I showed him a video of my adult tricycle that wasnt working. He said to bring it in that he'll fix it. I had to pay someone $40 to transport the bike to his shop. After a few weeks he said he couldn't find the part or fix it. I had to pay someone to help pick up the bike again. When I got there at 5 pm to pick up my bike he was closing up his shop and according to his work hours he was supposed to close at 7 pm. He said he had something to do. I told him If he could help me load the bike in the car because Ive had surgery on my shoulder... he said "no" he's in a hurry. Waste of time, money and rude. Never coming back here read more

This bike shop is the reason why so many other bike shops get a bad rep. It is a very messy and dimly lit space, with bikes in various states of assembly crowding the sales floor. But all of that could be excused if the customer service was up to par which it is definitely not. The couple who runs the shop are very nice and friendly yet they didn't seem like the most competent people to run a bike shop. I called a week in advance requesting a fixed gear rental bike for a day. We agreed upon a reasonable price, and I was promised that one would be ready for me upon opening the next Tuesday. Yet when I arrived the mechanic was not there, and had seemingly "forgot" to build up the rental bike the night before. I then waited 2 hours for him to show up and another 45 minutes while he assembled the bike. He struggled to get the rear wheel tensioned properly, and later upon closer inspection I found a stem bolt and pedal to be loose. I was then sent out the door at nearly 2 pm (3 hours after opening) with a bike that had neither brakes nor reflectors (a lawsuit waiting to happen). Luckily I am an experienced fixed gear rider and can skid, but they didn't know this at the time and it could have ended with a trip to the hospital for someone with less experience. I really want to like this shop since they do carry some cool brands and are primarily a fixed gear shop, but between the messy and unprofessional appearance of the shop, and the absolute lack of anything resembling professional service I can't justify more than 1 star. read more

I live nearby and for a few months I was reluctant to bring my bicycles for a repair. I have a rickety old mountain bike and my wife has a rusty beach cruiser. My daughter actually has the best bike out of the three of us. My experience at other bicycle repair shops did not sit well with me. The three or four other bicycle shops I've visited in my life gave me the impression that cyclists sort of look down their noses at people with inferior bikes, which I admittedly have. This is not the case at SOLO. They were professional, friendly, and their prices were very reasonable. Better yet, they didn't guffaw at our shabby bikes. In fact, they were very eager and happy to fix our bikes. I usually try to do my own maintenance, but I recently stripped some screws holding my wife's beach cruiser tires in place. It was an old bike that we had bought at a yard sale. Having stripped the screws, I didn't want to operate on it more for fear of making it worse. I already had the tires and inter-tubes when I took it to SOLO. They did the hard work of dealing with that situation, and replacing the tires and inter-tubes, for a very good price - all under 10 minutes. They later fixed my mountain bike, which was having problems with its gear-shifting, chain, and seat. Again, they fixed it quick and at a great price. So, I highly recommend these guys. You can tell they take a lot of pride in their work, and their prices are competitive with nearby bike shops. My wife and I now regularly go on bike rides, thanks to SOLO! When I went there, they didn't have a sign for their business, so you'll have to do some searching. Just pay attention to the address and if they're open, you'll see bicycles out front and tires in the windows. read more

Solo Cycles is so great! Ricardo and the very nice woman (his wife?) who helped us yesterday have made a great impression. We called at 6:45 to see if they're open while we hurried down the 405 from Torrance. Ricardo said they'd wait and stay open till we arrived! (Wow) Then he offered to do the work (replace a flat tube) while we wait! (WOW) I assumed I'd have to pick it up in the morning.. so I'm extra thrilled at this point. Then, he takes a look at the front brake alignment and decides he can tweak it while his in there anyway. Mind you, this is after hours. (Double Wow) THEN, he says the back brake has issues with the housing a just REPLACES the housing ... all while I wait. (HOLY SH$#) I won't tell you how little he charged me, because I don't want him to get flooded with people hoping to get the same deal I got. But I'm telling everybody I know who rides bikes to go to SOLO. Best I've ever encountered. read more

I went to this shop today to get a cargo rack for my bike. The man working there was happy to assist me, made sure the rack fit before buying it, and offered a lot of good advice about installing it. I wanted to get a basket for the front of my bike as well, but he recommended against it because the design of my bike wouldn't fit one in a sturdy manner. He could have had an easy up-sale with me, but was honest and I really appreciated that. I understand times are tough for small business due to covid, and these people were very friendly, honest, and helpful, and for that I will absolutely be going back! read more

Came Saturday morning for tubes. The owner is very helpful and will not up sell you. He is obviously busy everyday but made sure my bike is taken cared of while there's no customer in the store yet. I asked him if I can put a disc brakes on my not-so fancy Walmart bike, and he said don't spend money for an upgrade because it is not worth the expense. Will be back soon for all of my bike needs.
