    Sierra Pub - Chicken poplano

When going to a ski resort, you'd expect food to be a little pricier than normal, and not the same…read morequality as a restaurant...with that in mind, Sierra Pub is a good place to take that mid-day break and grab some bar bites and a beer. Stopped by here with Amy T. during a Tahoe snowboarding trip to Sierra and popped in around lunch time. We were able to order pretty quickly despite it being PACKED (football Sunday...). The folks at the bar were nice - I got a burger, fries, and a local Hazy IPA. The burger was super juicy and I scarfed it down immediately, being hungry from snow activities. Fries were pretty standard, and the beer tasted great. Again, yes it is expensive, and standards were lowered, but for what it is in the snowy conditions, it was a great meal.

If you are at Sierra at Tahoe for the snow you'll probably want to eat, and possibly have a beer…read more There are three spots, the Sierra Pub upstairs at the base, the 360 at the very top, and the cantina at the base of Westbowl. While the 360 is my favorite lunch spot - but it's at the top, so if you stop for a couple drinks, don't get too wild on the way down. The Sierra Pub is my end-of-the-day choice - the food is a bit overpriced ($11 for a decent sandwich), and the drinks about twice ($8 beers). The upsides are, decent beer choices (Little Sumpin' on tap for instance), a great view, and you can end your day there without a final ride down. The food varies. It's often crowded. The staff are great though. The better and more affordable snack shops are downstairs in the lodge, but be aware of crowds and large families.

One of the eateries at the Sierra Resort - we ate here during our lunch break from snowboarding…read more It's pretty convenient - you can either pick it up a la carte or order at the counter for the hot food. I got the loaded mac and cheese; it comes with jalapenos, fried chicken, and green onions. Solid portion size with lots of fried chicken pieces! I was bummed that the mac and cheese was slightly lukewarm. The cheese that they used was really creamy and good though. Can't really expect much from a quick lunch at a snow resort, but it did what it needed to do.

Ski resort dining is unpredictable... some are just overpriced, others leave you thinking just why…read moredid you spend 20 mins in line waiting to get served! To be perfectly honest, I can deal with limited options as long as it is fast, the food done well and satisfying after a solid morning on the slopes. So with great surprise that i found Mama's Kitchen (Sierra-at-Tahoe base lodge)... and this is the 3 reasons why I gave 4 stars; 1) They have some a-la-carte items but the 8 meal deals on offer is what did it for me. Because they're set lunches, they're able to process a large amount of people quickly... which means I get fed quicker, which means I am a happy skier:) The menu wasn't shabby either... things from the tried and true ski resort food (chicken strips, hot dogs) to things more diner like (speg meatballs) 2) The BBQ pulled pork sandwich KICKED ASS! They serve it on a garlic bread with fried onions (though a little 'slaw would have been nice). All served up with lots of fries. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised that their BBQ offering was good - given there is a BBQ restaurant on site. 3) Price wise the meals round out to about $13 for a big hot entree, fries and a large drink... I find that acceptable (for ski resorts). A similar mean at Memphis Minnie's SF would have cost $11. Accessibly good restaurant in a well priced resort. Great combo :)

What a fantastic breakfast spot!! This is a little out of the way from the main South Lake Tahoe…read moredowntown but is well worth the short drive or would be great to hit on the way in / out. I ordered the deluxe eggs benedict, which they kindly added chorizo to in lieu of Canadian bacon; my boyfriend ordered the sausage, biscuits and gravy; and we shared the coconut french toast because we just really wanted to try it! The servings are large but we ate nearly everything, and needless to say we were stuffed! I absolutely loved the chorizo--might be my favorite from a restaurant. The French toast was nearly perfect too, as it was thick and soft / moist but not soggy. I loved the coconut but feel the normal French toast would've been great too. Everything tasted fresh and house-made, as they say it is. The staff was incredibly nice and I believe the owner was at the front hosting people, which goes to show the service, thought and effort that goes into this place! Will definitely come back when in the area again.

What was good, was good: I had the eggs Benedict with home…read morefries. The home fries came out hot from the stove, lightly spicy and very tasty. The poached eggs were done perfectly and the English muffins were not burnt. (I have, unfortunately, experienced that before at another location.) My sister's breakfast was the corn beef hash, which really did look homemade, (unlike another restaurant in the area that served me what I believed was canned corn beef hash with almost soup texture.) her fruit was ripe. I do believe she very much enjoyed the breakfast. I may not be 100% correct on this, but I was rather disappointed in the hollandaise, it was a bit 'flat'. As far as I can tell, it was not true hollandaise. Most probably it was an egg Béchamel. It had a very creamy texture, a small tendency to congeal on the top, and lacked the bright zing of lemon and buttery texture and flavor of true hollandaise. Indicators, its lack of a slightly translucent and glossy finish, the lack of the acidity of lemon juice or vinegar, and did not weep butter, but instead seem to thicken and form a slight crust as I finished the Benedicts. The egg, Benedict were very tasty, but the hollandaise sauce with disappointing. (I really do like a good hollandaise.)

This tavern had a comfy, laid-back vibe with a full bar and video poker games along the counter…read more Our server was really friendly and took great care of us, which made the experience even better. The food was pretty solid overall. We ordered the Cajun shrimp salad, Tavern burger, buffalo cauliflower, and fish and chips. I'm giving 4 stars mainly because the buffalo cauliflower didn't actually taste like buffalo -- it leaned more toward a curry-style spice. It was still good, just not what we were expecting. The fish and chips came with deep-fried salmon, which unfortunately was a bit dry. On the bright side, the fries were SO good -- they tasted like they were fried in beef tallow and reminded us of McDonald's fries in the best way. Overall, a good spot with a nice atmosphere, and I'd definitely be open to trying other items on the menu next time!
