The restaurant here has always been very beautiful, but the food's been hit and miss and sometimes expensive for what it was. The new people running Kit Carson named it Aroma and it has a wonderful menu. The serving sizes are large, the food is super tasty the service is good although timing can be a little bit off. We had to wait quite a while for the tuna dish, which was one of our parties main dish. Also, it was kind of offputting to be served the bruschetta with three pieces when we had four people and then asked if we wanted a fourth one and we were super happy to say yes but then we got served a complete another $14 plate of three which was not our intention. The server should've made that more clear also I wrongfully assumed that they were refills on ice tea since I don't recall having a regular iced tea where there wasn't. However, When asked if I wanted another one. I said yes, and was charged another four dollars which did not make me happy if I was told that I was gonna get charged four dollars for a refill I certainly would not have got one. I chalk these up to an experience server and will not hold it against the restaurant when issuing the five stars that it deserves. I would certainly order the chicken marsala again. It was absolutely delicious and super flavorful, and the Mary's chicken is high-quality. Would I have loved to have it served on mashed potatoes instead of spaghetti? Yes, but still I have a very, very lovely dish and a large serving. The shrimp provincial was creamy and lemonade, not too heavy, but reaching enough to satisfy. It comes with four medium size, shrimp, and nice mushrooms. The burger was absolutely delicious cooked to order the fries or some of the best I've ever had. I don't even know how they make them. They're so good. The tuneup starter, which was ordered as a main course was incredibly large and so good highly highly recommend. Another plus is that they have several types of nonalcoholic beer and IPA Heineken, and another one which made us super happy. It was Saturday evening around 615ish, front of house was running around, but when she spotted us, showed us to our table, gave menus, and apologized as it might be a minute before our server would be able to take our orders because it has suddenly gotten busier than expected (large place but only about 1/4 full, but with 2 large groups, one of which was just seated before us) she came back with waters while we looked at the menu. Once our server came she was polite and took our drink order, promising to be back to take our food order. Understandably it took longer than usual to come back, so another man came to take our order. He apologized for the wait and said he would be happy to take our orders. We think he was the manager or possibly owner, really nice gentleman. We ordered the tiger prawns and Brussels sprouts appetizers, I ordered fish n chips, my husband ordered the rib eye with Mac n cheese and our friend ordered the salmon. The Tiger Prawns and Brussels came out first and the tiger prawns were amazing! 5 large tiger prawns, a couple pcs of toasted baguette, and in a type of white wine garlic Alfredo sauce type. The sauce was perfection, as I dipped each bite of prawn and soaked the accompanied bread. The Brussels were just as amazing, fried to have a nice crisp to it, but not soaking in oil, so they must've been fried in the perfect temp oil or something, and the glaze was just right (a lot of places just drench them in glaze as they're sitting there soaked in oil, but not the case here!) The ribeye was cooked very well (medium rare) and the hubby thought the salt level was PERFECT. It was a little salty for me, but I don't like a lot of salt. My husband almost always orders a good steak when available, and he thought it was great. The accompanying side of veggies were great too! Heavy on the garlic, but we love garlic so we thought it was perfect. The fish n chips were good, fries were ok, but not my style. They were more like shoe string fries, but that's their thing and a lot of people like that style. The lifts are not very convenient because to get back to TImber Creek you have to take "Homerun" and it's a bit hard to find and traverse back. Kirkwood is one of my more favorable resorts for skiing in Tahoe. I got some snacks on the last day at the eatery at Timber Creek. They had "colored chairs" to sit in and relax on sunny days here. I got a locker for $8 at Timber Creek. We stayed in a lodge at Hawkweed Road.
