Considering they have waitresses and decently priced grub and booze, how bad could it be?

Looking to just grab a local beer, my husband and I ended up coming to South Lake Brewing Company…read moreon a Wednesday afternoon, a little before 3:30 pm. South Lake Brewing Company is located in the same plaza as Target, with plenty of parking available. South Lake Brewing Company is also dog friendly for those traveling with their pups When we walked in through the back entrance, we were greeted by an employee. After looking over the menu, we ended up ordering: Pilsner, $8- My husband ordered this one for himself. He liked it and had said he would order it again. Not really big on beer (although I do like German beers), I didn't have any. 2 Towns Huckleberry Cider, $8- I ordered this cider for myself and I thought it was fantastic. The sweet flavors of the huckleberry was prominent and excellent as a hard cider. --------------------------- (Total= $16) After my husband paid, the employee helping got our drinks right away. Then we just sat in the corner inside to just enjoy and relax for a while. The place itself was pretty empty, although a small amount of traffic was coming in. The brewery inside was pretty clean and so were the ladies' restrooms. Outside there was a corn hole for those that wished to play and also it was nice that there was some shade as well. If I was a local, I would definitely come back.

Thanks for the convenience. Even though you are only a block from the Heavenly Gondola, my wife was nice enough to drive to pick me up. So many conveniences. Fairly simple menu that is done well. The beer was good! Got the two best IPA sellers. Angora House WC IPA and Fog Nozzle Hazy IPA. Both of which were smooth, too smooth; I could have drank even more. Well I did, as we went to South of North Brewing for more beer! See other review. I almost got a flight here, just to get it on a ski board. It was very cool; see my pictures. As for lunch, we got the following: Sticky Fried Chicken Sandwich - Made to order. Good quality, but a little small and did not come with fries or chips. In summary, tourist prices, lol. Wings - Pineapple BBQ flavor. Good size wings. Order of 8 for $20; again, tourist prices, lol. Overall the food was good and complimented my beers well. Specials available. Kids menu. Ambiance - Decent size location. The place still looks new; I like your decor. See pictures. Indoor and outdoor seating, see pictures. Cornhole outside. Lounge, table, and bench seating. We sat at the bar for the best service, otherwise it would be counter service as the bartender was the only front of the house employee. After lunch, I opened a tab and we took our beers outside to enjoy the beautiful day and the live music from across the street. Open 7 days a week from Noon to 9pm. Plenty of 2 hour limit mall parking. Well it is the off season now. Events, food trucks, Thursday Trivia, etc - See their website. Service - Good. The bartender did a good job handling both us sitting on the bar and ALL the counter service. And she still had time to let me try a few tasters. Self service water, utensils, etc. Price - $62 + tip. Expensive for what we got. Beers were $9 each. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2003 and 2017 at this location.

I went here with a few others on a warm July Friday night and it was poppin'! It was super busy,…read morealmost all the tables outside were full between here and the cocktail place next door --which I guess the outdoor patio area is a shared space? We had to go inside and ask where we were allowed to sit because there wasn't any signage that indicated a shared space vs. one building's/another's. This space is kid friendly and dog friendly so expect an overwhelming amount of both. They had overflow seating way in the back, somewhat in the woods in a tanbark area - which was basically empty but far away from the stage so it was hard to hear the music as you face the back of it. Yes, music! I actually specifically chose this spot on this evening because I wanted to hear some country music. I literally just googled and found the Tahoe live music page that shows which artists are playing when and where. The group did some classic covers. We sat facing the band but towards the back tables closer to the parking lot. It was loud enough to enjoy without the ear-piercing decibels when you sit right in front. Also, speaking to previous reviewers, this is Tahoe (not the Bay Area), so it definitely has a more casual vibe, and the type of place is in the name, you know? Anyways--so in terms of the ordering system, the way it works is you find a table FIRST, then someone from your party goes to get in line and order food inside. I believe there were multiple spots where you could also get your beer card if you weren't ordering food, but I'm not fully confident on that. The physical menus (up to date) have a QR code that links to an old menu (not up to date, from 2019 I think it was?), so watch out for that - because I tried to order a speciality pizza from what I saw on the QR online menu and that's no longer available. You can also find the updated version of the menu online - so maybe, AleWorx, if you read reviews, you can update the hyperlink. Waiting in line took about 20 minutes. They have menus available to look at while in line, so I wish people didn't wait until they're standing in front of a staff member to start pondering the menu. The beer card is a cool concept, I've seen it once before in another city. You put a credit card on file and get a blank key card for the tap wall. You have to place the keycard in the specific beer's card slot horizontally and leave it in there until you fill up your glass (found on the lefthand side of the taps). The idea is you can serve yourself however many ounces you want and you pay per--so you could try a taster of a whole bunch before figuring out what to get a glass of. On that night, they had mostly beers from their own brewery but also a few from other locations, including cider options, a hard seltzer, and sangria. After you order food, you get a number and tell the staff member where you are sitting so they can bring food out to you when it's ready. I think we waited about 15 minutes? Not sure, but it felt quick. All the staff members we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Pizza itself came out charred quite a bit around the crust (which was a bummer because I couldn't eat those parts and crust is my favorite) but overall had amazing flavor combinations. We had the Mora and the Supreme at our table and enjoyed both. It's definitely wetter in the middle depending on your toppings so I folded the bottom half of the slice upward to keep it all together. It was super filling so we ended up grabbing some boxes to-go with leftovers. We oven toasted the next day and it held up--still delicious! You have to go inside the building over by the tap wall area in order to checkout with your blank beer card. I wish you didn't have to go back in and close out. The other place I referenced has key card drop boxes with different tip amounts on it. It is definitely easier and more efficient but I guess maybe people like to see and confirm their final bill? I've never been to the other locations, so I cannot speak to them, but regardless, this one at the Y was a really nice evening!

Service was completely reasonable, as a waitress took our orders and brought our food to the table. Even more coworkers showed up than I'd planned and that was not a problem. It's in a really cute little building. It's two stories, although I'm not totally sure if they do full service upstairs or if it's more of a grab a drink and hang out situation. We usually just sit downstairs. They also have a great back patio that's open in the summer, which is such a nice bonus. When you walk in, you seat yourself and someone comes over with menus pretty quickly. I almost always get the birria tacos and they never miss. They're so good, and the Parmesan crust on the outside of the shell is seriously delicious. The last time I went, the taco shells were different and a lot smaller than before, but the flavor was still there. Definitely my top recommendation. I've also tried the wings, burgers, and a few appetizers, and everything has been consistently good. They have a happy hour too, and it's actually a great deal. Overall, I just love this place. Good food, laid back atmosphere, and it's always a hit when I bring people.

It was okay, although the buns were a bit mushy and parts of the chicken were dry. The fries weren't crispy and didn't really taste like anything. We were seated almost immediately and had a very friendly hostess and server. As a group we ordered: Nachos with beef: 5/5 yes I'm sure they get the guac and cheese premade somewhere but the portion was generous, the spice level was decent, and nachos were flavorful. Pesto chicken sliders: 5/5 best thing we ordered. Fish and chips: 4/5 run of the mill fish and chips. The breading was a little thick and the fish wasn't particularly tender but it was alright. I usually feel like places don't provide enough tartar sauce but here I had sauce left over Bloody Mary: 5/5 I don't like blood Marys and I enjoyed this one which might indicate that it wasn't good but I really liked it. My husband said it was "more vegetal than usual" and I think I don't like the overwhelming tomato taste of a usual Bloody Mary so his observation makes sense Mulled wine: 4/5 pleasantly warm and interesting in flavor. Felt comforting after skiing If this was a random restaurant in the Bay Area this review would look very different but I'm comparing it to usual fare at ski resorts; to sit down to such a nice, filling, hot meal while wearing my ski boots was such a happy time, all three of us were thrilled.
