I walked into this store for the first and last time today. I was excited to purchase new bras after healing from surgery. I watched a sales associate excitedly greet two women who were also shopping for bras. I waited for her to come out of the fitting room to help me. She did not help me or even acknowledge me. Nor did the other two sales associates who were there. Two other women came into the store after me and were also greeted in a friendly manner. I don't want to think that I was ignored because I was the only person of color in the store, but I can't figure out any other reason why I wasn't shown the same courtesy. This Soma location left me feeling incredibly disrespected. An Asian sales associate sized me and started discussing bra options. However, she abruptly abandoned me mid-conversation to help two customers who just walked in, without asking me or the newcomers to wait. There was another associate available, so it was unnecessary for her to abandon me so abruptly. I stood there awkwardly for a few minutes before feeling completely ignored and frustrated. I informed the cashier about the situation and left. This is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful service. Am I the only one that's noticed they have changed the vanishing back bra? It no longer has any give in the main strap. It's the most uncomfortable thing I've put on my body. I have loved Soma for 10 years and I have had to send all my bras purchased in the last six months back. I have not changed weight but they changed the material. Just had THE WORST customer experience ever thanks to Pyonna . . . over a $5 item. After ordering over $900 in 30 days, 1 pair of panties had the elastic not sewn on for about 3 inches. They would not make it right because it was outside the return window. I let them know I was not trying to return, it was a manufacturing defect which has no time limit. Never a bad experience. Their quality is about the same as Victoria's Secret (if no, juuusst a little better). The prices are a lot better than other places, solely because this place is always having a sale or a really good deal. The first time I walked in was about 1year ago. The sales ladies were extremely friendly & welcoming. I've never experienced being locked out or ignored. They seem to have the most informed staff around. I like to play the "I don't know anything about bras/underwear" game every place I go just to gage the staffs honesty & knowledge. Safe to say this place passed. They're also well organized & clean! Let me tell you, the difference of wearing a bra from Target to getting a bra from Soma is absolutely amazing. My friend and I were window shopping and on a whim I decided to stop by here. We were greated right away by a friendly sales person. I told her I was looking for a bra that was supportive and attractive. I'm a larger size in the bra department so she offered to measure me to get the proper fit. After measuring me she tells me my size. It was completely different from what I was wearing. She brought me some bras in my "right" size and they were amazing! I bought two bras. I love them and they fit so incredibly well! I purchased 5 pair of the 360 vanishing underwear in my normal size. They fit the first time I wore them, but began stretching out. I just left the store and had a really amazing experience! I've been wearing sports bras for so long, I had no idea what size bras I needed. As soon as I walked in, Charity was right there to greet me and she was SO helpful! She took me back for a fitting, which was so easy, just a sports bra that fits over the bra you're wearing, she turned on the Bluetooth and BAM! My size showed up on her iPad! Totally easy, no embarrassing fitting situation at all! She brought me a few options in the wireless styles I was interested in, I loved them and bought them! One style I wanted was buy one, get one 1/2 off, they didn't have the color I wanted in store but they ordered it for me there so I could still get the sale price! I'm a 40D and most places don't keep that size in store, so I was really happy I was able to walk out with 2 of the 3 I purchased! Poor costumer service and rude workers. I asked if I could exchange brand new bras that I received for Christmas for the correct size. That was not an option even though they still have the tags on them just no receipt. The woman I spoke with on the phone was incredibly rude right away when I told her the person that bought them lost the receipt and was not a loyalty member. In my entire history of bra shopping I have NEVER had a satisfying shopping experience. Until today. I haven't even driven away yet - I'm literally sitting in my car writing this review! The manager and the employee helping me were totally amazing! I am 33 weeks pregnant and have grown 4 inches under bust alone and my current bra is trying to crush my ribs. I also needed to get nursing bras for the very near future. They didn't have my size in store and offered to make the purchase online and have it shipped to the store. One of the bras I wanted was regular - not nursing - and was in stock so I was able to take it home with me. However the store was cut off on certain items due to limited stock. So they found a way to make the order online using my info and still get the in store item without losing the 2 for $59 deal! These ladies treated me with so much kindness and really went above and beyond to get my the help/bras I needed. I am a very satisfied customer over here!! (Also worth mentioning I had called the Folsom Soma as well as this one before deciding where to drive. I have had the worse experience with Soma customer service. I returned an item that I had bought online more than a month and a half ago, and I am yet to get a refund. I emailed them over 4 times and got only 1 response saying my return is on its way - that was a month ago. I have to admit, I was a little embarrassed to write this review because it's about BRAS! But, after much debate with myself, I reasoned that I must share and spread the word about this place to help my fellow females! So, gentlemen, please move on, this one is for the ladies (that's right, I said Bras, not Bros)! Did you know that 8 out of 10 women are wearing the wrong bra size?! 8 out of 10!!! I'm one of the 8, and I only realized this after a visit to Soma. I was instantly greeted upon entrance into the store and helped by Joanne. First, she took me into a dressing room and measured me. Yeah, it's a little awkward, but just relax because it's the key to getting THE bra for you. And, as I mentioned above, I was wearing the wrong bra size! So, we started from scratch. Joanne was lovely! She showed me all the styles they carried and listened to what I liked and didn't like. She pulled tons of bras for me to try and laid them out on a table in the dressing room. She stayed very close to the dressing room and checked on me every few minutes to make sure I was okay and to observe the fit of the bra. She was incredibly helpful! She kept getting more bras if the fit wasn't right. And, I just wanted to hug her when she helped me find a strapless bra that was actually comfortable. Yes, comfortable! I thought that a comfortable and perfect-fitting strapless bra did not exist prior to my visit to Soma. After I had found several bras that were worthy of my bosom, Joanne then showed me which of those picks had the best deal. She even went above and beyond to search for the styles I liked in the sales rack to see if I could get one on sale. And, she found one and I snatched it up for $20 (normally $50!). As I checked out, Joanne also pointed out how to store the bras so that they'll last longer. Wow, I learned so much about bras! I also like that Soma isn't covered in pink and sparkles like their competitor (which carries overpriced undergarments that are of poor quality and are not comfortable). Overall, I had a bra-tastic experience here! No woman enjoys bra shopping, but at least you can do it right and leave with the appropriate fit for your body. I ordered 2 bras online Aug 2020, I returned the bras the same day I received them because I didn't like the way they fit. This was my first time ever ordering from Soma. After 2 weeks of not receiving a refund, I emailed them. They told me that it was taking longer than usual to issue refunds. So, I waited and emailed them back after 3 weeks and they said they had my refund but hadn't issued the refund that it takes 6-8 weeks! So I disputed the charge with my credit card co. After almost 2 months, my credit card co sent me an email siding with Soma and stated that I would be responsible for the charge. So I called Soma, they asked me if I had a receipt where I dropped the return off and I said no but I have an email from one of their customer service reps stating that they had received my return on Aug 20th...they wanted me to forward the email as proof so I did..at that point they had no choice but to issue me a refund...even then, they said it would take up to 9 days to receive it!! This has been going on now for almost 3 months!! I will never ever order from this company again!! The worst experience ever! I've ordered online from Soma though it's been a while since I visited a store. But they have a donate a bra promotion for those women in need and I ordered one online that didn't fit so I thought it was time for a visit. I needed a re-fitting too so I went. The experience was great. Joanne was super helpful and I felt comfortable and really they attended to my needs for a great fit and new bras. I bought matching pajama pants and top from this company in November 2018. My confirmation provided no notice that the pants were on back order. Sometime later, I get a notice that the top has shipped. Again, no mention of the pants. After the top arrives, I go to the Soma website looking for a customer service # and, in that process, notice that the pants indicate that they are on back order until January 7, 2019. So, I think, that'll be okay and don't make the phone call. After hearing nothing from Soma for the past six weeks, it is now January 14, 2019 and I make the call asking about the status of the pants. Now they are unavailable, but still not one single communication about any of this from Soma! So, now I have a top and no pants! Great. First, they offer to send a pair of "ankle" pants (too short for me) in the same pattern which I definitely don't want, and which are available in my local store, hence the reason I ordered on-line in the first place. Next, now this was the real clincher, they offer to send me a new top and pants in a different pattern and, of course, charge for both pieces!! I'm unclear how this was helpful to me and, of course, I'm not giving them an extra $40 bucks due to their misleading practices! So, I'll live with my top that has no pants and never do business with these people again. read more

I had a horrible experience here today. I was trying on bra after bra and was completely ignored by the staff for 45 minutes. If I hadn't been in desperate need of a new bra,and I had a gift card, I would have left. At one point I thought I was going to be helped. I explained to the woman, who spoke to me first, what problems I was having with some of the styles I had been trying. She informed she couldn't tell without seeing the bra on and told me to go to the dressing room put it on and she would be able to help. So I went to the dressing room with the foolish notion she would come check on me. NOPE. I then proceeded to try on several more in varying sizes. At this point it had been an hour and I was getting more and more frustrated. Finally someone else asked me if I needed help and actually took care of me. She was friendly, even though I was clearly beyond irritated at this point, and helped me find one that I hope will work. I am not one who expects people to wait on me hand and foot nor am I someone that is afraid to ask for help. I was clearly in need of help and they were asking everyone around me if they needed assistance ,even women who, and very obviously, arrived after I did. I would have thought they would have at least spoken to me. They would start helping the other person and walk away with them. The woman who ended up helping me had been working the register the whole time I was there until she spoke to me. She is the only reason I even bothered with 2 stars. read more

So, I never intended on actually buying anything from Soma. I admit it, I wanted to take advantage of their free fittings, in a pink-glitter-free environment, then scurry next door to Lane Bryant to take advantage of their semi annual sale. What ended up happening? Not only was I completely impressed with the sincere customer service, u actually really REALLY liked their bras. Not every one of them worked, as different bra styles are for different ladies, but u appreciated the fact the associate listened to my past bra "issues" and gave me a variety (thankfully, not an overwhelming amount) to try on and see what worked. Turns out, I had been wearing the right size group, but the wrong "sister size", which is surprisingly common. I really couldn't believe the difference it made... I'm super comfortable, AND look more svelte in my clothing. As a surprise bonus, the bra I selected was happily on sale, regularly priced at $46 (which I've never spent for a bra before!), on sale two for $59. I just couldn't pass it up. The 2 star rating does not reflect how I feel about the brand, but how I feel regarding the quality of merchandise I have purchased within the last 3 years or so. I have been a Soma customer for close to 15 years as I require extra support to accommodate size 38G breasts. I have been extremely happy with the durability and quality of the bras in the past. I ONLY hand wash and air dry my bras and they have lasted quite a while. However, the more recent purchases have resulted in broken underwires that I had to replace with porcelain ones from Amazon. At $65 a piece, I expect them to be very high quality. Also, the clasp that is supposed to keep the brastrap in place constantly slips and the strap hangs down my upper arm. This is very annoying as I am constantly adjusting the strap. The craftsmanship seems to have deteriorated considerably. With these issues, I should be paying half the price! This is what I would expect from a less expensive bra. Soma, you need to do a quality control check and resume constructing the high-quality merchandise you are known for. I am highly disappointed with my 3 broken underwires and the flimsy clasps that won't hold the straps in place. If you don't care about your brand, then your prices need to reflect the subpar quality of your merchandise as of late.
