Junior was excellent; there was no wheeling and dealing or trying to sell me on some crap I didn't need.

Ashland Tire & Auto

Overall, I had a good experience with Ashland Tire & Auto. I brought my car in for exhaust repairs,…read moreand they completed the work the same day. The repair cost seemed fair, though on the higher end of the expected range. One issue came up afterward: when I picked up the car, the tire pressure light was on. I initially assumed it was nothing serious, but by the following evening, one tire was completely flat. To be clear, I understand there's no way to know for sure whether the tire was damaged while the car was at the shop or while I was driving it home or the following day. I genuinely acknowledge that uncertainty. That said, the timing concerned me. I took the car to Just Tires, where I had purchased all four of the tires in 2022. I was told that the flat tire could not be repaired and needed to be replaced. Replacing two tires, which is fairly typical (depending on tread wear and matching) was recommended. The total cost, including tax and installation, was about $575. I discussed the situation with Ken Papas at Ashland Tire, and I appreciate the way he handled it. He didn't dismiss my concern, but he also fairly pointed out that neither of us could pinpoint when the damage occurred. He offered $150 toward the replacement cost, which I accepted. I think that was a reasonable, good-faith gesture, even though covering the cost of one tire would have felt more satisfying. I'm leaving a positive review because the exhaust issue has been resolved (so I assume the original repair was done correctly) and because Ken handled an uncertain situation professionally. I'd consider using Ashland Tire & Auto again.

Many other folks had the same idea, so I knew this place was reputable (in addition to all its great online reviews) They gave me a call by 10:30am letting me know they could fix the whirring with a new belt. Also identified my brakes were at their end of life and offered to replace. Their quote for 4 new brake pads was extremely reasonable. By 1:45 my car was done being serviced and I went back to pick it up. Easy check out. No line. Very nice staff. A complete success. Definitely will use Ashland tire and auto for all future car needs and will recommend to all my friends

I had taken my car to this shop twice before with no issues, but after my most recent experience, I…read morestrongly encourage everyone to get a second opinion. Rey quoted me $1,594.36 for a repair that another shop fixed for just $180. That is clear price gouging. On top of that Joe was very aggressive and attempted to blame me and my wife for the issues he had missed. My first visit was in June last year for an oil change, which was done quickly and without problems. The second visit was in February for a heat issue with coolant leaking under the car. The repair was completed within a day or two. However, after I had already paid, Rey mentioned an additional $200-$300 repair needed for the AC to work properly in the summer. I found it odd that he waited until after payment to bring this up. When I asked questions, he became defensive, repeatedly emphasized how busy they were, and told me not to touch the AC button because if I did I would not be able to turn it back to the heat. He suggested bringing the car back in the summer when I needed the AC. In early May, my wife and I brought the car back to fix the AC issue and address the check engine light so we could pass emissions. We dropped it off around 8 a.m., and it was ready by early afternoon. Before paying, I asked to speak with Rey, who now said there was no AC issue and that the heat and cold were both working fine. When I questioned the inconsistency from February, he again cited having 20-30 cars a day and not remembering details unless noted on the intake sheet. I told him that we had sent a clear email with our requests, but I guess that wasn't properly transferred to him. I asked to check the car together. Rey complained multiple times about being too busy but confirmed the AC and heat worked. I then confirmed with Joe twice that the charges covered the AC repair and check engine light fix before paying. After leaving, I noticed the engine light was still on. When I returned, Joe immediately tried to blame my wife for not communicating the emissions request. I showed him our email, and he agreed to waive the inspection fee and fix it. However, Joe was extremely aggressive, swearing at me and demanding a "yes or no" answer even though I had already agreed to leave the car. After a brief cooldown, I addressed his behavior, and he eventually apologized. The next day, Rey called and quoted $1,594.36 to replace three parts (canister, fuel valve, and pressure sensor) for the P0456 code. I asked Rey if he had done the EVAP smoke test, he confirmed and went on to say that all 3 parts were leaking and all had to be replaced. Skeptical after all the previous issues, I took the car elsewhere. The new mechanic fixed it in about one hour for only $180. He said the problem was a very small, easily fixed issue in the canister, and that Rey had likely not performed an EVAP smoke test and was not truthful about all three parts leaking.

What is there to say that hasn't been said in other reviews? Incredible service. Incredible work…read more My HRV acquired a couple of scratches over the years that didn't concern me. Then a side mirror battled a dumpster in an alley over the winter - the side mirror lost. So I had it all fixed at once. This shop was great. I've had some very bad experiences at other shops over the years (though largely at dealers) so I'm a huge car cynic for everything from buying to repairs. But I would totally go back to Armitage Auto without hesitation.

I took my car in because my sunroof was stuck open. They gave me an estimate to fix it and I agreed to have the service done. Ultimately they were not able to fix it and I still had to take it to the dealer for repair who told me the damage that was done would result in an even more expensive repair. Overall, I had a horrible experience with poor communication throughout. They had my car for several weeks and I had to chase them for updates. After the first week with no updates, I finally reached the shop manager and the response I got was to "be patient". This was the state of my car when I picked it up, which was not the state I dropped it off in. Although my car was over 10 years old it was in nearly perfect condition when I dropped it off. The car was hit while parked on the street outside the shop. When I saw the damage I went back into the shop and they sent me to their body shop to have it buffed out. Much of the damage came out but not all of it. Nothing was offered to rectify the damage done to the interior of the car. I sent emails to the shop with the pictures below, but got no response.

I then took it to another shop, and they told me they also couldn't fix it, and directed me to Reliable Auto Repair Center. I was impressed when I called Reliable and the man I spoke with was confident he could fix it. The first time I brought my car in I had to leave immediately and bring it back the following day, because I was told they wouldn't be able to look at it until then (there were a ton of cars outside and they don't take appointments: first come, first served). I dropped it off the next morning and by early afternoon I had a diagnostic report and estimate. They also found a few other issues with the car and fixed everything for me by the next day. Communication was great, every person I interacted with was professional and kind, the cost was reasonable, and best of all my car finally works properly again. I will definitely be bringing my car to Reliable for all service and repair moving forward.

Then after a number of phone calls, my price would almost always quadruple and the problem would never be fixed. The last time I paid almost $4k for some suspension work and it was never repaired. DO NOT COME HERE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS…read more The short version: this shop pulled a bait-and-switch twice, lied about pricing, and refused to release our car unless we paid more than the agreed quote. The situation escalated to the point where we had to call the police so we could safely leave with our vehicle. The full story: We live in the neighborhood and have been paying customers of this shop for 3-4 years. Most recently, we brought our car in to replace a side mirror that had been chipped overnight. We spoke directly with the lead mechanic, who explained that the replacement mirror might not be an exact color match but guaranteed--both verbally and on the written quote--that it would be a similar shade. He also said that if the part arrived in a completely different color, it would be sent back. We agreed on a set price. A few days later, he called to say the mirror arrived and that it was dark silver (our car is white), but told us he would cover the cost of painting it so it would match. We asked multiple times on that call to confirm there would be no additional charge, and he confirmed there would not be. When we arrived to pick up the car, the shop demanded $250 more than the agreed quote, stating that we either had to pay the higher amount or they would remove the mirror and return the car in its original damaged condition. We explained that we had been long-time customers, lived in the neighborhood, and had clear proof of what was agreed to. None of that mattered. The lead mechanic refused to involve the owner or management, even though we had a recording of the call confirming the price. He stated that he "couldn't make $10 on this job" and tried to undo the work instead of honoring the agreement. The situation became so hostile that we had to call the police to supervise the interaction. The mechanic showed up outside of his shift, became aggressive and loud, and had to be calmed down by the police while they waited for us to safely leave the lot. This experience showed a complete lack of honesty, accountability, and leadership. There is no clear management presence, no concern for customer service, and no willingness to stand by written or verbal agreements. If you value transparency, professionalism, or basic trust with your car, do not bring it here
