Food was yummy! The restaurant recently had their grand opening and the owner was super friendly. My friends and I got a spread of different menu items. I got the pozole which was delicious and and my friend got the Sombreros Platter where we got to try a little bit of everything. Some of the meat and tacos could've used a little bit more salt, but I thought it was all well-made. The service was great and it was filled with a lot of people enjoying their dinner. Salsa and chips were provided and were refillable. I also loved that their drinks were refillable as well. Unfortunately, one of my friends had waited for their item, but the kitchen forgot. Unfortunately did not enjoy Sombreros, and thought we'd have another staple to our rotation. First- the individual who took our phone order had a bit of attitude. I had asked about their menu, and their tone was already off-putting. With the phone on speaker, my wife and I both thought the tone was annoyed with the order. Second- the food itself was frankly disappointing. We got tacos, menudo, shrimp cocktail, and taquitos- and they were fairly bland and/or clearly manufactured glop. The menudo tasted canned, and the shrimp cocktail was clearly a pre-made mix with frozen shrimp. I give the business credit for a nice aesthetic and the food packed to go had flowers/generally nice aesthetic. We order the food as the restaurant makes it (no changes or add ons). All the food tastes fresh and good portions. Friendly service and kept making if we needed anything. Was clean and good music playing in the background. Now based on the taste of the beans n rice I can say they're culture fusion because the beans taste like the way Central Americans make their beans. Before leaving, the gentleman that served us asked how was everything ( we did leave some of the food behind)? We said everything was good and that we didn't know how much onions was in it ( we wanted to taste everything the way the make it w no changes). He even offered to redo everything to our liking. This is the worst menudo we have ever seen. I should have read the reviews as someone had said the same thing. I asked for it without hominy and the server did say it cones with it but would take most of it off. Well look at the picture nothing but hominy!! I swear it had like 12 small pieces max of tripe! A new restaurant in Covina is located in a small shopping area and has free parking. I stopped by for a quick bite and ordered taquitos ala carte $9.99. It's also available in a combo with rice and beans. The guacamole was handmade on the premises and very good. I feel this is important to mention as other places use "avocado sauce" sold by the gallon. This tells me that they take pride in the quality of the ingredients they serve. My plate also came with a cucumber and radishes garnish and chips. This is more than your typical "ala carte" meal. I liked the decor and layout of the restaurant. It can accommodate about 30 people and is very clean. The owner was nice and friendly. I will definitely return to try more items on their menu. Stopped by the other night on a Tuesday to grab some tacos and I was blown away! The food was prepared beautifully, I a mean just look at the photo The man at the register was incredibly kind and generous with the salsas as well. We got 3 green and 3 red to try and both were delicious. The green was flavorful and had a small kick to it while the red had a fiery attitude! I enjoyed combining both but favored the red slightly more because I love spice. For the tacos we got 2 asada, 2 pastor and 2 carnitas. Every meat was well seasoned and juicy! it was so good my bf and I ate two tacos still standing in the kitchen saying to each other "MMM SO GOOD" haha We eventually made it to the couch with our other tacos but the aroma was too much to handle and we quickly devoured the rest I'll definitely be returning soon to try other menu items :) read more
