    Lunch Menu
    Ian A.

I am genuinely happy that I revisited Venus (Covina). It improved. I ordered the House Special Pan Fried Noodle ($16.95), the Salt & Pepper Fish ($16.95), and Side Order Steamed White Rice ($1.50). Although its portions are not huge, Venus (Covina) puts sincere effort towards its dishes. If ordering, I recommend the dishes that highlight shrimp and/or fish. Venus (Covina) is not an upscale, fancy location; however, it's a small business that works extremely hard to provide satisfying Chinese food and kind service. (Quick Note: In addition, the Lunch Special menu offers competitive deals. Lunch Specials are offered from 11AM to 4PM.) I arrived at Venus (Covina) on Thursday (around 6:10PM). Instantly, I was surprised with its busyness. I observed about seven groups of customers dining inside. Venus (Covina) is short-staffed with lengthy wait times, but staff (only two hosts) is welcoming and very friendly. After two minutes of waiting, I was eventually brought to a table. I noticed that the host forgot the menus, so I eventually walked to a nearby table to fetch one. Strangely enough, another table also mimicked me since their host also never offered a menu. Thankfully, I was quickly offered cold, fresh water. I was delighted how it tasted crisp and clean. Venus (Covina) avoids the common pitfall of serving old, melted ice water. After five minutes, a staff member eventually asked for my order. Please be aware that the wait time is lengthy. I waited 11 minutes for the House Special Pan Fried Noodle. At the 18 minutes and 28 seconds mark, the white rice arrived. At the 22 minutes and 27 seconds mark, the Salt & Pepper Fish arrived. I appreciated how the food arrived freshly cooked. I enjoyed the Salt & Pepper fish. It contains a thin, lightly seasoned crust. It has a crisp crunch. When bitten, moist & hot fish immediately arrives. The dish is not the prettiest, but it's packed with hearty freshly cooked fish. Regarding the House Special Pan Fried Noodle, it's a confusing experience. Pan Fried Noodle dishes are typically tasty when crisp; however, Venus (Covina's) House Special Pan Fried Noodle tasted better when it's soggy. The sauce is not savory; rather, Venus (Covina) uses a sauce that's sweet similar to teriyaki sauce. If eaten early, the crisp noodles taste a bit burnt and some vegetables taste a little raw. Only after the sauce had thoroughly been mixed into the dish for a few minutes, I began to enjoy the dish. However, the huge winner of that dish are the plump shrimps! Oh my goodness!! The shrimps are fresh and very flavorful & delicious! The variety of toppings on the House Special Pan Fried Noodle really highlighted the different tastes. The chicken is tender and flavorful. Unfortunately, the beef tasted a little rubbery and somewhat artificial. I'm not a fan of its beef or the occasional raw-tasting vegetable. Lastly, the steamed white rice arrived fresh and clean. Compared to my last visit (eight months ago), the rice now tastes much better! Concerning ambiance, Venus (Covina) also dramatically improved. The location continues to be very clean and shiny; however, it now has beautiful scenery played via flat screen monitors. Also, the location consistently plays soft, soothing music. I especially appreciated how Venus (Covina) felt airy and ventilated. As I sat, I'd repeatedly hear staff saying kind words to customers. Also, I listened as staff happily agreed to the many alterations and requests from its patrons. And most impressively, staff consistently offers to wrap and bag your leftover food for you. Overall, Venus (Covina) is a location that works hard to create a good experience for its guests. It's a location with heart that learns and improves. I enjoyed my meal, and I left Venus (Covina) with a bright smile. If nearby, I recommend. 4.5 out of 5

The sizzling rice soup is to die for!

Cindy is the absolute best! The sizzling rice soup is an absolute must order dish. I'm so glad I googled "Sizzling rice soup near me" and we ran... and boy was it worth it!! The braised garlic string beans are sooo delicious, with tons of flavor! And super crisp!! And very green and blistered! But delicious!! We seated ourselves and our food came out quickly!! We will definitely come back for other dishes!!! Very beautiful and clean restaurant too, with a well deserved A rating to match.

We came for my husband's birthday and ordered the orange chicken, the garlic edamame, and the vegetable egg rolls. The food here is so good! I asked Cindy the owner what the sauce was on the edamame and she said it was their house secret sauce. I don't know what's in that sauce but it's magical! It's such a relaxing atmosphere as soon as you walk in. They really treat you like family here

Absolutely incredible. Great food, great customer service. The only place I've found that will do a honey glazed fish filet for me instead of shrimp. Thank you. Will definitely recommend and be back.

I ordered tofu and eggplant in hot pot. I expected soup, but pleasantly surprised. Service friendly and quick. To go order, so didn't stay, but atmosphere is satisfactory, nothing special.

One of the best lunch deals around! Friendly staff and fair prices. We just keep coming back.

This is our 3rd time going this year and they are very consistent with their dishes as far as taste and quality. Their customer service is top notch! I like their tables and big screen with nature scenes. What has changed: I did notice they now have a B rating. The salt and pepper fish did change and I preferred the previous version with breading and jalapenos. The new version is slightly breaded with more pepper, grilled onions and mushrooms. Too many flavors for my taste but still delicious. Their orange chicken is more crispy and has less sauce which I liked. Their hot tea is so good; the tea pot and tea cups are classy. It remains my favorite Chinese restaurant. For 5 people with leftovers was about $135.

"If you're looking for incredible food and great service, this spot always delivers! We usually stick to takeout, but since they recently remodeled, we decided to dine in--and it was a fantastic experience. This time, we enjoyed the fried pork chops, dumplings, and combination chicken, shrimp, and beef chow mein. The fried pork chops were perfectly crispy and full of flavor, the dumplings were tender and delicious, and the chow mein was packed with fresh, perfectly seasoned ingredients. The portions were generous, as always! The newly remodeled space is bright and welcoming, making it a great place to sit down and enjoy a meal. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed. Whether you're dining in or taking out, this place is a top pick for consistently amazing food. Highly recommend!" Oh yeah I forgot to add they have beer which I didn't know. Big plus!!!

Cindy was the nicest host/server! They are the new owners. We went for the first time and will def be coming back. The food was so fresh and the portions were great.

Cream Cheese Wonton, BBQ Pork Bun (Cha Siu Bao), Honey Walnut Shrimp, Kung Pao Shrimp, beef chow main.
    Sandra C.

Home-cooked-comfort food, who said me? Every time I visits it never disappoints and always hits. The staff is attentive, portions are on point, it is family style sharing which is great, accommodating for large groups and clean. I want this restaurant to be around for many years to come, so, needless to say, I will always be back.

The spicy shrimp wontons are also good, but I think the flavors don't quite hit as well - big pieces of shrimp are enclosed though! The Peppered Beef Udon was great the beef pieces were tender and juicy and great textured noodles. Overall fantastic spot to get some freshly made soy products - milk, tofu, everything made with tofu and some random things like frozen dumplings. Being your own shopping bag or box to carry your goods.

We came here for their afternoon tea specials! It's a great deal! We ordered the following, 1. roasted duck and cha siu vermicelli, 2. stirred fried seafood udon 3. stirred fried beef rice noodles 4. ground pork and egg over rice (forgot to take a picture of this one) 5. French toast ($4 only if you ordered $40 worth of food), 6. red beans with milk ice drink. ( they also included drink with every dish) All the food was pretty good overall. I would rate it 3.5 stars for taste of food. but up the .5 for the very reasonable price and good service. I would definitely come back again!!

I googled for any TSC locations on my way home. Bingo! There is one TSC in West Covina right next to Tokyo Central. I was on my way... I phoned in my order for a few dishes for both my daughters and me. My youngest daughter loves their Shredded Pork Chow Mein (crispy style) and BBQ Pork Chow Mein (dry style). They both tasted delicious. I got my eldest daughter one of her favorites, Honey Walnut Shrimp. Tons of big shrimps, but too much mayonnaise. I had the Taishan Chinese Broccoli wth Fish Filet. Lots of broccoli and fish filet with great flavor and taste. I love eating it with white rice! Parking is plenty. Good and bright inside space. They also have a BBQ deli. Staff was friendly. Prices were a tad higher than norm. My order was ready upon arrival so no wait time except for paying the bill. I was in and out of here under 5 minutes. Fantastic! I will be back. Thank you TSC!

Their HK style food is authentic and delicious. We started with the hot and sour soup and it is literally the best version we have ever had. It had a bit of the Szechuan numbing spice and was a huge portion so we took half home. We also ordered their steamed rice rolls with shrimp and chive and you can tell it was made fresh by the wrinkles in the rice paper. The last item we ordered was their chinese sausage clay pot. It was exactly what we were craving. Crispy rice all along the edges with perfectly steamed rice, chinese broccoli and crispy chinese sausage. It was hard to choose because their menu was huge and we came late so we missed the pineapple buns but definitely need to try it next time. I also saw everyone ordering the lemon iced tea and realized it's because they do free refills! That's another need to try. I felt the value was really great and we definitely are coming back. Service was also great. The waiters quickly came over when you waved them down and they checked on you just the right amount of time. The decor inside is very cute and I love the retro style. Only complaint I would have is that we sat on the left side of the restaurant and there were quite a few mosquitos on the booth so we ended up sitting on one side.

It took about ten minutes for us to get a booth table, but we were waiting inside. The staff member called numbers firstly in Cantonese then in English. After we sat down, the waiting line persisted past 1 pm. Similarly, the bustling loudness continued on during the course of our meal. Food arrived quickly, however. The price point for the delicious food is competitive. We got French-style filet mignon ($18.99), braised tofu in brown sauce ($14.99), chicken chow mein ($14.99), and a steamed rice noodle roll with barbecue pork ($5.99). A pot of rice was included in our meal. The steamed rice noodle roll with barbecue pork was a nice appetizer that arrived first. I enjoyed how the French-style filet mignon was garnished with Thai basil, black pepper, and ginger. The meat was flavorful and tender. The braised tofu in brown sauce was consistently hot on the inside. The delicious brown sauce soaked throughout the vegetables. The chicken chow mein didn't have a lot of sauce, but it was still delicious with a lot of meat included. Overall, it would be nice to visit again outside of a peak time because the food prices are competitive. The menu is expansive, and the breakfast selections look interesting. The atmosphere during the Sunday lunch peak time was consistently bustling. I think the restaurant started to play Chinese music loudly at random points so that people could finish dining more quickly.

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm and welcoming--nothing overly fancy, just a cozy spot that lets the food speak for itself. The menu has a great variety, but what really stands out is how consistent and flavorful everything is. The portions are generous, making it perfect whether you're dining solo or sharing family-style. Service is also a highlight--the staff is attentive, friendly, and makes you feel right at home without being overbearing. To start off, there was only one person at the store and he was handling everything with zero time management skill. Pickup time continuously got delayed and I had to wait over 30 minutes at the store from the initial pickup time. Then the porridge, omg-- seriously what happened? It was so bland and looked as if they have poured water over some rice powder... like they don't care. As others have mentioned, this location really is not even worth a star.
