I was on my way to pick up my WaveRunner from Bert's Mega Mall when I searched Yelp for a good place to eat nearby. Agnii popped up, and I'm so glad I stopped in! I ordered the lunch-special butter chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. It came with rice and plenty of naan--exactly what I needed. I told them I wanted it "Indian spicy," and they delivered! It came out straight fire, just how I like it. They also have a great selection of Indian beers. I tried Old Monk and Haywards, and both were really good. The butter chicken was creamy, rich, and perfectly seasoned, and the rice and naan went perfectly with it. The cauliflower was also packed with flavor. Finally tried this place in my local neighborhood. I really needed to relax after a long day so I wanted a glass of wine. I opted for the moscato. When the glass came I was shocked at the very little amount of wine that was in my glass. For $14 you could at least fill it 1/2 way, I got less than 1/2 and was disappointed. I ordered the butter chicken, garlic naan and jasmine rice. All the food was amazing in taste and freshness. This place is clean, roomy , and staff were friendly. My only complaint was the wine pour, next time I'll get a margarita. Oh and everything is sold separately there is no combination plates. They also have a Happy Hour menu which is a plus! read more

What can I say except everything is five star. Such a beautiful venue unfortunately so tucked away in a place that is pretty hard to get attention. But once you get inside, it perfectly decorated and lit! It is definitely a place great for meetings of any kind. I can see this being a very hit restaurant if it was situated more prominently, but with the amazing yelpers, I do hope more people will come here. You can pretty much sit anywhere you want when you enter because it's relatively empty. I always love it by the window, but for those who like more intimate seating area inside there is plenty of booth and tables. The color is very respective and reflective of the Indian culture and art vibrancy. I love the combination of velvet with glass and gold. Every item used including the silverware and plates and cups are very thoughtfully presented. I wish they can dim the lights a bit & it could be extremely romantic! The food is above five star. Everything is so fresh and delicious and perfectly season. The only thing I didn't like were samosas, which I felt was too big and thick crusted for the very little condiments inside. Perhaps mini samosas may be a better option. The service is just excellent and attentive. They always make sure you have water glass that's filled. When I am here, my cup is always overfilled in a good way. They even give you dessert at the end like Indian candies which are So delicious and unique! read more

Birthday Dinner Find Thanks to a Coworker This spot was actually recommended by a coworker and helped me decide where to celebrate my birthday after work with the group -- and overall I'm glad we gave it a try! First off, plenty of parking, which was a huge plus. Definitely drive around to the back because there are a lot more spaces there. The ambience was really nice and actually much more decorated than I expected inside. It felt warm and inviting, and made for a fun birthday dinner spot. Funny enough, when we first arrived, our party of 10 was literally the only group there... then slowly people started trickling in throughout the evening. It definitely never got packed though -- maybe because it was Cinco de Mayo and everyone was elsewhere chasing tacos and margaritas I ordered the Chicken Masala, and it was super flavorful -- rich, buttery, and especially delicious paired with the garlic naan. Definitely the highlight of my meal. I'd give it a solid 7.85/10. The portion was good and very satisfying. One thing that surprised me was that almost everything is ordered separately -- sides, rice, even sauces. At a lot of traditional Indian spots I've been to, basmati rice usually comes alongside the curry, so I thought it was interesting that here everything is an add-on. Not a dealbreaker, just something to know before ordering. My chicken masala was around $21. I also got my husband some lamb to-go and chose a 4/10 spice level, which he later confirmed was still pretty spicy... so definitely keep that in mind if you're spice-sensitive Service was friendly throughout the night, and everyone was welcoming. I came here for dinner with my family from a recommendation from my neighbor and we walked in to a beautiful restaurant! The decor here is so beautiful from the gorgeous murals on the walls, to the cushy seats at the tables and the fun lighting. We were greeted immediately and since it was pretty empty, allowed to pick our seats anywhere in the restaurant. We perused the menu and decided to try: Flame Kissed Tandoori Chicken Chicken Tikka Burger Agnii Cream Chicken Elegant Butter Chicken Garlic Naan Keep in mind that this is a more upscale restaurant so the prices reflect that. I was aware of this when reading the reviews prior to coming here, but It was still a shock when I realized the quantity of food that we got. The thing I couldn't get over was $6 for one piece of naan and $5 for one bowl of rice. Yikes! Everything we ordered was very good - Very tasty and full of flavor. Unfortunately our tandoori chicken came to the table not fully cooked and still bloody in the middle. We were able to send it back to have them cook it some more but it took a while and we ended up having to leave so we took it home. I was dismayed to find that the restrooms of such a nice restaurant were so ignored. It is obvious that no one checks on it, which is surprising since there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The first stall I went into had trash on the floor, no toilet paper, no seat covers. You know what they say, if the restrooms are neglected, it's usually a sign of how the kitchen is. The entire staff here is very nice but it's kind of hard to flag someone down if you need something. Not sure if I would come back here as the prices here are too much for me for everyday dining. I've been to this restaurant several times in the past year with my family and we always have a great time!. The food portions are big and the quality is perfect! They are very attentive to spice levels for those who are sensitive. I usually have the pleasure of being served by Sadhana who is goes above and beyond to make sure we are taken care of. I am not trying to be difficult, but there are certain things not to do if you are trying to run a restaurant business. The restaurant appeared to be clean already, but a staff member swept the floor and piled all the dirt and debris directly in front of my table, then started mopping with strong-smelling chlorine water across the entire floor. The chemical odor and the pile of dirt is not something I wanted for my lunch dining experience. Cleanliness is great, but this should not be done during peak lunch hours. Almost flaky, layered skin and i think different potatoes mix inside. The green sauce was spicy but all good. The eggplant was very flavorful. The rice was great. I think I finished the meal in under 5 minutes. I'm not a huge eater but this really did not feel worth it. 20 $ for 5 pieces of chicken when I could've had a chipotle and a 5 dollar foot long or something is insane The only reason this place didn't get a 2 star for me is because at least the butter chicken was well made. This place has an extensive menu and the food is cooked to order so it's fresh and hot which means it takes time. But the food is amazingly good and the flavors are delicious. Our server was kind, helpful and friendly. Too many choices and it's nice they have a lunch menu that's available everyday. Nicely decorated with Indian themes and nice music in the background. We tried three palate pleasers which I consider appetizers so we could have a variety. Each was delicious and served with a spicy green sauce and a yogurt based sauce. Chicken was tender and the fish was nicely fried and not great. We liked the sliced radishes, micro greens and spiced onion slices. For dessert with enjoyed the gulab juman but without ice cream. I highly recommend the Cheese Naan! ​We ordered the "Classic" Butter Chicken and the sauce was great, possibly one of the best I've had. On Sunday evening, we were looking for somewhere still open after 8pm. With not many choices, we went to our Empty Nesters list and found that Agnii was just the place. Not too far and open Sunday night. As fans of Indian food, we were hopeful Agnii would be a good choice. Of course it wasn't busy when we got there, but since it's a holiday week, we weren't sure. There were a few other tables seated. Walking up, one thing to note was the brightness. We walked into the front and nearly left due to the atmosphere. It always surprises me when restaurants don't realize that fake bright lights are not pleasant for dinner. But, since we didn't have many choices at this time on Sunday, we figured we'd give it a try nonetheless. We sat in a back corner where it wasn't quite as bright. But, honestly, super not a fan of the lighting here. Way way too bright. Certainly takes away and although I'm going to give Agnii a 5, I wouldn't go back unless the lighting was changed. On to the service and food... both of which were fantastic. From our Veg Samosa appetizer, which was Gwen's fave part of the meal, to my Indian beer and Paneer dish, we loved all of it. The Butter Chicken was quite good. Not the best I've had but very solid. The Paneer was surprisingly my favorite. Full of spicy flavors, it was amazing to enjoy with the rice and with the naan. Also, our waitress was very friendly and attentive and helpful when we had questions about the menu. Maybe others like the lighting, I really don't. The shapes look cool but dim it. And if they don't dim, change it. My two cents but I'm guessing there are others like me. It kills the atmosphere of an otherwise fantastic experience. read more

Tried this place for the first time last week, and overall we had a great experience. The restaurant is very clean, modern, and beautifully designed. It was also nice and quiet, with the music at the perfect volume, not like some restaurants where it's so loud you can barely have a conversation. We were seated in less than two minutes, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. The food was delicious. I ordered the Elegant Butter Chicken and asked for it mild. It ended up being a little spicier than I expected, but it was packed with flavor. One thing to note is that everything is ordered separately. The butter chicken (around $22) came in a medium-sized bowl, and the plain Fragrant Basmati Rice (about $8) was a separate order. For my drink, I had a Moscow Mule. Instead of the traditional copper mug, it was served in a martini glass with a dried fruit garnish, which was a nice presentation. It tasted great as well. The only downside for me was the price. Our bill for two people came to about $148 before tip, which felt a bit expensive for what we ordered. I am so happy to finally find some good food in downtown Covina that isn't just another beer pub. I came here with my husband craving for some Indian food, and we're glad we finally got to try it out. We started with the Papadums. The spice powder had a little kick to it with a nice sweet and spicy balance. We also tried the Pani Puri, which came with 8 pieces. I honestly wish there was a bit more filling inside, but I really appreciated the little jar of sauce they give you to pour into the cups yourself. For the mains, we split the Butter Chicken, garlic naan, and basmati rice. This was such a unique butter chicken because it had a subtle sweetness to it. I've been to Agnii a couple of times now and ordered takeaway and eaten in the restaurant itself. I'm really surprised that it's not more crowded because Agnii's food, service and ambiance are DIVINE. The servers are attentive and so kind, and the menu boasts some amazing selections of tandoori, stews, and desserts. The interior of the restaurant is beautifully decorated and with a keen attention to detail down to their plate settings. The first time I picked up a to go order, I got palak paneer and basmati rice along with a mango lassi. I'm used to a creamier lassi, but it was still very delicious and tangy. The palak paneer was delicious, and I asked for a medium spice level and they really came through with the flavor! This time around I was able to dine in and take photos of the meal. I got the chili garlic naan, pani puri (I wanted to order this to go last time but they don't offer it for takeaway unfortunately), and the malai kofta at medium spice level. This meal was so comforting and I could pop the pani puri every day if I could. The chutneys and spiced water it came with were so so good, I could probably take shots of them no issue, haha. I do wish the naan was a little bit spicier, but it was a perfect supplement to the sauce of the malai kofta. The malai kofta is like a potato and cheese dumpling with a creamy sauce (think like an Indian alfredo sauce but SO MUCH BETTER). I'm not sure tho if it's worth it beyond that one-time experience, as there are definitely Indian locales out there that serve just as good if not better food, larger portions at a lower price. I awkwardly told them I was interested, trying to prompt more info. The lady said to look online as there were too many to name over the phone, which I understood, but the phone call was still odd. Then when eating, the same lady who answered the phone was serving us. I asked about the Desi coffee and how it was made iced v hot and the answer was "im not sure..." and left it at that. I again had to awkwardly as if there was someone in the back she could ask and get that info for us. We ordered the garlic naan and basmati rice to share. The food took a while to come out even though there were only two other tables in the restaurant. Nonetheless, the food was tasty! The spices and flavor in the curries were there and no complaints at all. The garlic naan was also perfect texture- crispy yet also soft. The interior is huge and very colorful. The restaurant is tucked in the heart of downtown Covina and right next to city hall. The restaurant was only open a few weeks when we dined in. The restaurant is designed very elegantly and the aesthetics are incredible. Agnii has modern artwork, vibrant colored chairs and an awesome tiger mural by the entrance. There is also a bar with TVs for sports. The city doesn't have many options for Indian food so it's great to see them have a home in the city of Covina. Staff was very attentive and checked in with us if we were familiar with the dishes or Indian cuisine in general. We like Indian food and their curries and the menu has an extensive selection. The table and the table setting is very upscale. Almost felt like a table at a wedding reception. We decided to order the Rustic Karahi Chicken ($20) , Veggy Samosas ($6), Plain Basmati Rice ($6) and Garlic Naan ($6). The food took time to come out but all of it was worth the wait. All of the orders were delicious! The portions sizes are adequate and enough to share for 2 people. Samosas and the Naan were flavorful. The Karahi Chicken was great and my wife enjoyed it very much. A delicious experience here at Agnii. Jessica was our server and was very accommodating and informative. We ordered Pani Puri, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka, Charred Chicken, Amritsari Kulcha w/ Chana Masala, among other dishes. Everything was really good! They're still working out some kinks in terms of service (for example, we had to ask for place settings after we got a couple of the dishes), but that's to be expected at any new restaurant. Ok so second time going ! Yes yes yes I LOVE this place everything is delicious so much flavor and the service is excellent. They have genuinely sweet waitresses working here. Feels like the owner or manager loves his people. I say this because they treat you so good so they must be treated so good. So far I've tried maybe 8 different items on the menu and everything is delicious! So last time I tried about 4 things and this time tried 4 different things. I like good food and this is going to be my new go to spot!!
