Our take-out tonight was delicious! We got a bottle of their ranch to take home, and it's the best! Everything was great all the way down to the pickle accoutrement for the sandwich. We can't wait to go back!

You just can't beat this place for brunch, lunch or dinner!....And, the nostalgia of it all. How many restaurants can you go to where almost everything you eat is homemade, even the ice cream!?? Located in the seafood, laid back small town of Urbanna, Va......Something Different does not disappointment and keeps me coming back for more when I come to this town to visit family. The smell of fresh out of the oven, raisin bread, calls your name, to take some extra back to DC. Something Different cooks all their sauces, dips, ice cream, breads and beautiful pies in house. Peanuts are roasted there too. In houses roasted coffee is served in a french press with fresh cream. We came here on a Sunday for brunch. We enjoyed beignets with our fresh coffee for starters and fresh, buttermilk biscuits. I couldn't help but to notice huge BBQ smoke out back and so I definitely knew I was going to order the rib plate. It was outstanding!! I mean everything was delicious, even the cold craft beer! In addition, we tried the "Southern Comfort" Sandwich which comes with tender, mouth-watering brisket and pimento cheese--slathered in BBQ sauce. We also tried the Crab Cakes and Soft Shell crabs with sides of spicy hoe cakes, green beans and mac & cheese, fries and onion rings. ANNNNDDD, if that was not enough food, we tried a plate of smoked wings! Being from the DC/Maryland area, the crab expectation was high. Well, this place...knocked it out of the park. It was all great...Thumbs Up!! Now top it all off with homemade ice cream from the Bakery attached to the restaurant....one word....HEAVEN!! A brunch fit for a king and nap worth for sure. We all left satisfied and.....enjoyed both the food and friendly service. If you are ever in vicinity of Urbanna VA or on a road trip passing through.....Something Different is a must and worth a visit for sure!!

Shortly after we sat, one employee came and cleaned our butter-laden table. The stench of the rag used to wipe the table was stomach turning, and the smell lingered throughout our stay. After several minutes, another employee approached the table and asked what we wanted to drink, then walked off to fill our glasses. Then, another came to us with menus, then said she'd be back and walked off. A while later, the first employee came back with our drinks and said she'd be back. Almost fifteen minutes went buy and yet another employee came over to take our orders and asked what we were drinking. We placed our orders and then NOTHING. For over half an hour, we sat nursing our water and soda...after forty-some minutes, one of the employees said in passing it shouldn't be much longer for our order to be up. After another five minutes, we got our food. In their defense, there were two larger groups in the restaurant, but geez, the place wasn't THAT crowded. The food: standard fare, fried seafood, sandwiches,...it was OK, but the portions were huge. The pricing: pretty average, about $12-15/pp. The atmosphere: bleh. Outdated, sparse bathrooms, and the nasty smelling wash cloths......I don't want to think what the kitchen is like... The service: chaos. Nice employees, some were friendly, some acted like they were forced labor. But man, we didn't know WHO to ask about anything, so we just kept to ourselves as the clock ticked into the afternoon.... Overall? We won't be back. Why? I can still smell that washcloth. ICK.

However, I would not recommend the brownie and chocolate sundae dessert. The brownie and cookie were cold and hard, which made the dessert disappointing. On the positive side, the carrot cake was huge and definitely worth sharing -- easily enough for 3-4 people. The service was excellent as well. Our waiter was very attentive throughout the meal and made sure everything was taken care of. Overall, Second Street American delivers great food variety, strong service, and a family-friendly atmosphere, with just a few misses on dessert.

We had great conversation and service all evening with the bartender. This spot is definitely more of a pub type place. Food is American bar food with a coastal flair. I got the potato skins and my husband got some fried fish. They were both good but nothing to call home about. The bartender also came up with some pretty good drink options, I was surprised because I expected a standard bar with well drinks but she definitely experimented and had some great menu options to choose from. This is a sizable restaurant able to accommodate large parties with indoor and outdoor seating. Service was very attentive and staff very friendly. There is a big selection of food from seafood to burgers, pasta, pizza, bbq, salads, steaks, soups, and always specials of some sort- if your not sure what you want or your party can't decide (and even if you can) then this is your place because there is something here for everyone We have tried a bit of everything across the menu and didn't have a dish we didn't like. In fact I was surprised at how good they were given the variety. Add to that, that this is scratch cooking it makes it a bit more special. I particularly like that the restaurant makes note and practices using less salt to support its patrons health. I didn't find anything bland and certainly not anything over salted either. The restaurant offers a big beer list with many craft and micro brews along with full bar and wines. We tried the lemon cello cake for dessert and thought it was spot on- well balanced and not too sweet. Live music at times- check the web for who and when. A fun place to eat at and the food very much compliments to the fun. Definitely worth your try for a laid back restaurant experience with options for everyone. As a cafe, Willabys is a solid choice at 4+ stars in my opinion. Happy eating!

We loved Randolph's On The River. It was clean and nice with a wonderful view, nice people, and…read moregood food. Yesterday was different. Sadly, very different. Randolph's is expensive. It is a seafood restaurant and we expect to pay more for good, fresh seafood. We cannot do that often and it had been a year since we had been there. Our experience yesterday was so disappointing, I doubt we will be back. First, little things: there was no beer on tap, the cold cases were not labeled correctly with dessert names holding wine and other unknown items. The sign outside with the name of the restaurant is long past time to be refreshed. It was barely readable. The number of tables had been reduced and there were pieces of tables outside and in the dining room. It appeared that there was only one person in the kitchen and the TV blared some "reality" show instead of music playing. It still was cute and clean but it felt like something that was nearly ready for the final lap. Second, the food: the pictures shown here are "before" pictures. The crab cake sandwich, for example, was the cheapest crab meat you can buy (yes, bordering on "goo") breaded and fried. It had more binder than crab. Unlike the pictures, you could not see pieces of crab and you could not taste crab. Let me recap in order. We ordered steamed spicy shrimp. They came out and looked great. Something was wrong. I've never needed so much effort to peel a shrimp. Husband used a fork to split the shell off of the shrimp. I ended up chewing a lot of shrimp shells because I could not get them peeled off. We also ordered the Captain's Platter to share. It is huge and that's the best thing I can say about it. They were out of scallops so we substituted fried oysters and picked catfish and our two sides. The catfish, oysters and hush puppies were fine. The crab cake was, as mentioned above, terrible. Not 'disappointing.' Not 'not good.' Not 'room for improvement': terrible. Embarrassingly terrible. Our meal came out without the sides. Our waitress was busy with the one other seated table in the place having a long conversation about tattoos and tattoo places in Fredericksburg and was heading back to the kitchen when we flagged her down. By the time our sides were out, we had finished the main course. The mac and cheese and the twice baked potatoes had just come out of the oven so the were blazing hot. Let me be clear: they cooked our main and sent it out and then started firing the sides. Actually they probably cooked some else's food and then fired our sides. The mac & cheese was fine, the twice baked potato skin was so charred, it was inedible and the inside of the potato was, well... mush. It looked like they had put it in a blender resulting in a tasteless paste consistency. And then the too-hot-to-eat food was presented to us after we had finished the main. Hubs ordered iced tea, I ordered water to drink. They were nearly the same color. To describe his tea as "weak" is a kindness. Something nice: The person who waited on us was very nice and did her best. Here's the best part: we dropped $60 for two people sharing app and entree. For $60, we could have had a nice meal served in proper order that had texture and taste. Instead we got unseasoned, tasteless gruel (with the exception of the catfish) that was way below "not good." Randolph's On The River will now just be a fond memory and not a special place to go. That makes me very sad.
