Muffins from Something's Brewing - downtown Grayslake This is my favorite place to get muffins. They are always delicious and huge! This evening I was walking past there and noticed that there were a lot of muffins still in the display area. There didn't seem to be any type of cover over them. Does anyone know if they still sell them the next day? Day old muffins sitting out overnight doesn't sound too appealing. Hopefully they donate or toss them out the next day. read more

Cute as a button shop packed with all sorts of treats from pies to cookies and cakes, muffin tops, along with packaged goodies of all kinds. A sandwich area with fresh breads is also tucked in here. Jammed packed but cozy and comfortable. I could linger for hours. My sis and I ordered coffee and split a large portion of cherry pie. The menu of drink options is endless and both of ours were very good. She ordered a Cupid latte something and I did a drip coffee - both were great. Pie was outstanding. read more

Quite possibly the best coffee shop in the area and one of my favorites when visiting downtown Grayslake. Every square inch of Something's Brewing is covered by candy, baked goods, coffee & tea, pastries & muffins of every imaginable ingredient. Their drip coffee is the only thing that is a slight miss; it's a medium to dark roast, which can be bitter and over-roasted. That's not discrediting enough to remove a star or not order it, but I wish they offered multiple roasts. There are unbelievable variations of mixed coffees and teas on their large menu -- visually the most complex I've ever seen. During my visits, the service has been pleasant but a bit rushed, and the seating area is crowded. This place is popular, and I enjoy coming here. read more

We've been to both locations in Grayslake many times. They have a wonderful selection of baked goods, fresh sandwiches, and salads. Indoor seating is limited however, both locations offer outdoor seating during warmer months. We live in Lindenhurst and there is an empty bank building downtown. Every time I drive by it I think to myself that it would be the perfect location for a third Something's Brewing location. Just putting this out there as I hope at some point, they will consider a third location. read more

This is my favorite cafe in the area. The menu is HUGE I spend most of my time just trying to figure out what I want. The banana chocolate chip muffin is my current favorite with the cheesy chicken baked potato. I can't wait to keep coming back to try more. This little coffee shop/cafe is larger than I expected when I arrived. I also didn't realize they sold prepared foods--I thought it was simply a coffee place with maybe some pastries. They did have the coffee and a nice selection of pastries, but also smoothies, cakes and sweets, and food items for breakfast and probably lunch. Their menu is huge and super crowded--a little difficult to read. I was almost overstimulated when I was here just because there's so much stuff and so many food and beverage choices. I landed on a chocolate covered strawberry latte and a caramel apple cider (I think for that second one that's not what it was called, but is essentially what it was). Both were good (so I'm told about the latte since I don't drink them); I've never seen something like the chocolate covered latte on a menu so that was an interesting find. In addition to the coffee I picked up a cheese danish and cinnamon bun. The danish was for me and it was huge. I don't know if it was made differently than other danishes?... it was several inches tall and I've never seen that before. It wasn't bad but it was too big for me. Look no further if you are looking for a cute and cozy little coffee shop that is conveniently located in downtown Grayslake. I typically go to their other location near CLC due to convenience and easier parking but if you have plans in downtown Grayslake make sure to add them to your itinerary. They have a huge selection of sweets and many different drinks to choose from whether it's tea, coffee, or Italian soda. This is an order at the register and pickup type spot which is super normal for a little cafe. Great for Gf too! Everything is delicious. read more

But today was especially enjoyable because I ate for free with a gift card I received last week for my birthday. Thanks Tom! Today I had the Chyna Wrap (grilled chicken, veggies, and chow mien noodles, drenched in their delicious "sweet heat peanut sauce"). It is one my favorite items on the menu. There's coffee and bagels of course, but you can make a meal for breakfast or at lunch. A pretty cramped coffee shop from the looks of things inside. It also functions as a gift shop. There's lots of cool stuff to get someone for whenever. It's about $4 for a medium coffee. The best one that I've had so far is the Maui Latte. Has a Hawaiian theme of course. This is almond and coconut milk with pineapple, toasted coconut, and whipped cream but I leave this off. Also there's food. It's about $9 for a sandwich. Has a few vegetarian choices. Veggin On The Border has cheddar cheese and sour cream which I leave off, guacamole, hummus, onions, rice, romaine, salsa, and tomatoes. Filling for lunch. There's also lots of handmade sweet treats. Get some breakfast and get some gifts. It's a great local business that's good in the morning or at lunch. There's bagels, sandwiches, and whatever. read more

Rude person first thing in the morning. I ran into Something's Brewing to pick up a few bottles of syrup for coffee. The blonde little girl at the counter tried to stuff the 3 glass bottles of syrup I bought into a white paper bag and when I asked for a second bag she said "we don't have anything else ". When I asked again for a second bag she said "I guess" and rolled her eyes. DO BETTER! I am a regular customer but haven't been in for a while. To the owner (who is awesome) please don't put a grouchy and moody kid in to run your store first thing on a weekday morning when it's going to be busy. Food is great but the service is just horrible. At the time of my experience there were two workers behind the counter. One was "Josh" and another young lady on her phone. After ordering I went to sit down and realized there wasn't a clean table in the place. I asked Josh, who had taken my order, to kindly wipe down a table as there wasn't a clean table in the place. He said he would get to it later because he was busy mopping the area behind the register. I asked him if he expected me to wait for him while he mopped and did his side work and he responded "this is a cafe not a restaurant and I'm 20 minutes behind mopping". I spoke to the owner about this later over the phone and she explained that this shouldn't have happened but really didn't give an apology. She actually opened the conversation by asking if I had had a personal experience with this individual. Almost to insinuate I might have had something to do with her employees behavior. It just blew my mind. Then she followed up with that this employee was a little "off". As though I needed to make certain allowances for his behavior. I stopped the conversation as I didn't feel it was right for the owner to tell me about behavioral problems of her employees. If I was the owner I would have apologized profusely. Coffee really good. I went there two mornings while in the area and just shows to go you can have very different experiences. First day i got loaded or wild tots or some such. Which were potatoes, not tots with bacon(2little bits, cheese, melted to a crisp) and lots of bell pepper and onion. Pretty good tho. Their coffee is excellent. Got the classic brew or some such which is plain coffee. Not disappointed at all. Second day in short, disappointing. Ordered an omelette with bacon cheese and tomato. First they brought me a quesadilla or something .. then 3others got their order that came in behind me. Then a young lady got my omelette. I saw her close the lisd and go to take it back and inquired. It was my order after ifd asked i assume the manager if my omelette was up. So i got my omelette the young lady got her keto breakfast but wow. Time is precious imo. And the potatoes were seasoned totally differently, actually doused in something herb-wise im not familiar with and some kinda chipotle like orange seasoning. So anyway i asked at the counter if they had refills on their small, 2.59 tasty brew, nope. I said even if my order was wrong then given to someone else? Nope. Ok ...... just 3 stars. read more
