Constant issues with this location over the past 3 months. First the blast machine wasn't working but ordering ahead via the app didn't show this, which led to us receiving soupy milkshakes. Car hop didn't say anything but we immediately noticed the error at first sip. When we asked for the blasts to be remade we were told the machine was out of order and there was no way to notate this on the app (We received a refund). Most recent issues have also stemmed from the app - for weeks (3-4) the Solomons location shows offline in the app and they will not honor the deals nor prices listed in the app. The establishment has removed the ordering equipment from several stalls although it mostly looks clean around the ordering areas, it makes you wonder if this location is on its way out. read more

Never thought I would be writing a review for Sonic but I went to this location today and there were no employees. The doors were locked, lights were on, but nobody was working. I love Sonic's milkshakes. They are so thick and tasty. I wish they would bring back the Classic Yellow Cake Batter. It was the best milkshake ever. But in its absence, I love anything banana flavored. I love that their food is made to order, so it is hot and fresh. I've been to this locations a few times over the past month. I'm amazed that people actually go there to get some of the worst fast food I've ever had. What am I missing? My hamburger bun was dry and tough. They same was true for the chicken sandwich. On top of that, the chicken sandwich was TINY! It was 1/3 the size of a normal sandwich. I wanted to try the s'mores milkshake. They were out of the chocolate pieces so they used brownie pieces instead. I'm sure it's better that way. It's a good milkshake but it doesn't really taste like a s'more milkshake to me. I could definitely taste the graham cracker crumbs & chocolate. It's lacking on marshmallow taste for me. The marshmallow whip on top wasn't enough. Next time, I would ask for some marshmallow whip in the milkshake. Don't get me wrong, the shake was delicious. Not worth the heart disease anymore. Sonic used to be a rare treat because of its location. However now it's almost not even a thing. Overall, we've been second guessing our decision to go there a lot. We've had frequent wrong orders and mixed up orders, payment processing issues where we would order online, pull up and them telling us at the LAST MINUTE they don't accept Apple Pay. Our last visit (this past week) yielded the wrong order (cheese fries instead of cheese tater tots) which were not good at all. Now, I will say they are currently understaffed and that could be a cause; however it not an excuse for poorly prepared food. Today, after several recent visits to the Edgewater, Maryland franchise, I decided that I need to submit my recent disappointment in service, product, and personnel. For years, I have enjoyed the Sonic product.  The Edgewater, Maryland franchise is located in an easily-accessible location; the service, historically, fast; the product, well-prepared and packaged. Until about six (6) months ago. Today, I sat at the Drive Thru microphone for up to five (5) minutes.  When I drove to the window, nobody recognized I was there for several minutes.  I knocked on the very blurred window. Then, was met by [what my receipt documents] Carhop:  Pat with a nervous "The next time, just wait.  We will get to you.  We have a line." Then, when I ask how they knew I was at the microphone box, "Pat" advised me that am audible and visible signal.  Then, added that they were training a new Drive Thru employee. I would have been more sympathetic, except, my recent visits at the franchise Drive Thru so similar, but different. Please, do not let this franchise fold under bad service and/or product.  Word travels fast. read more

We drive 30 minutes to get to a Sonic. This last visit to the one in Edgewater will be the last. Worst drive through experience ever. They are out of several items and the employee was rude about it, as if we should know they were out of onion rings. When we got to the window the order was amazingly incorrect. Over the past year, we have come here a few times, and the pull-up windows are always closed. We are always told to go through the drive-through instead. We aren't given a reason why, either. What's the point of being called a "Drive-In" if you can only use the drive through. The moment we see the drive-in is closed, we leave. We have even gotten there, been told it's drive through only, then see some people getting serviced at the drive in. I had never been to Sonic (shocker!), so we headed here one weekend for me to try it out. The menu layout was a bit overwhelming- things would be suggested to me (e.g., "how does the corn dog sound?" or "how does this flavor milkshake sound"?) and I wouldn't be able to quickly find it on the menu because things were in all different places. Obviously not a problem if you've been to Sonic before, but I was a bit overwhelmed for it being my first time. We ended up ordering tons of food, and it lasted us for multiple meals. You park, order, and pay by card at your parking spot. Then someone brings out the food and your receipt. Our food came out within a few minutes- it was pretty quick. My favorite items were the mozzarella sticks and the real fruit slushie. I would go back for those two items alone! The milkshake was pretty tasty as well, and I'd say their burgers were average, but probably above average for fast food. I also tasted the corn dog, and it was pretty solid. I wanted to try some items from their breakfast menu, and the internet says they serve breakfast all day, but there was no breakfast menu displayed, so we were a bit confused and ended up not ordering anything or asking the server. My only other complaint was that it was hard to hear the person I was ordering from over their system- I had to ask her to repeat things several times. Other than those two issues, I was a fan! If I could add something to my dream wish list, it was that you could order on the board similar to how you would order online- add one item at a time and then submit electronically. I had to write everything down we wanted to order on my phone as we were discussing the menu, and it felt a little silly. Overall, two thumbs up! I get why people love Sonic now. STAY AWAY! Very unsafe food handling practices. Around 7:30 yesterday evening we decided to stop at Sonic on our way home from Annapolis. As we pulled into the parking lot we saw all the runners were wearing masks which made us feel as though Sonic cared about the health and safety of their customers. However not wanting to be face to face with a food runner we opted for the drive-thru. Pulled up to the menu, placed our order, and drove around to the window. This is where things got bad. Through the window I could see at least three people in the food prep area not wearing masks. I decided to cancel the order and when asked why I told them the food prep people are not wearing masks at which point they all put on their masks. So I know now they have been told to wear masks, I guess management just doesn't care about the health of their customers. I can only assume managements policy is, as long as the customer can't see you, then you don't have to follow the safety protocols. When I voiced this concern to the manager she simply offered to give us our COVID-19 food for free. Please, for the sake of your health stay away from this place! read more

My friend ordered a CHERRY LIMEAID SLUSH (so good btw) but when we saw the long haired skinny white boy approaching our vehicle with our midnight snack, we knew that something had gone awry. How did we get to this point? What had happened in this young mans life to attribute to such dissatisfactory service? Tyler rudely hands us our beverages and had gotten my friends order wrong. Solid. That's a pretty good summation, I think. You know what you're getting into with Sonic. It's drive-in fare (pseudo-fast-food, really), and it's not what most would call 'healthy.' BUT! It is tasty. Sometimes, that trumps everything else. The problem is consistency. I don't know how, but I have managed to have a myriad of experiences in the few times I've been there. Most are in the middle, but there is the occasional forgettable or unforgettable one, as well. Issue: food quality. Sometimes the tots are overly greasy. Sometimes the dogs are swimming in liquid bun. Other times, everything comes out perfectly. It's a crap shoot, and not something one looks forward to (the guessing game). Still, we don't have many in Maryland, so we make do with what we have. When they are spot on, the boneless wings are amazing. Same with the hot dogs and burgers. Stopped in with my husband looking for a junky little treat after a disappointing afternoon. We ordered a chili dog, large mozzarella sticks and a large brownie/cookie dough BLAST. I'm here to discuss the blast. What arrived appeared to be a massive foam cup of delights. There was a crack in the side of the cup, and it was already spilling. We were willing to overlook that: Topped with a generous swirl of what I'm pretty sure is Cool-Whip, and sprinkled with 3 brownie chunks and 4 sketchy little nubbins of cookie dough-- the domed top offered a tantalizing hint at what lay beneath... We had high expectations. Too high, as it turns out. I don't know if I am more perplexed by what WASN'T in the shake, or by what WAS. Each spoonful was indeed a mystery. We quickly realized this was a bunch of blended vanilla ice cream. And precious little else. Eagerly hoping to stumble upon another chunk of brownie or dough, we soldiered on. During the hunt, I uncovered a sizable wad of paper, and, later, a red string. Why continue? You might ask. Well, in this family we don't quit. Unsure of what was to follow, (A paperclip? A finger? What happened at that blender? We may never know), our spirits filled as the cup emptied- we laughed at the ridiculousness of it all. We made it to the bottom with less than two brownie chunks and a dusting of dirt-like specks of what was hopefully dough. North Carolina SONIC is still tops! This location isn't half-bad though. Opening Week was booming, of course and went without any major hitches (service-wise). However, my order was correct, but the food wasn't piping hot. Can't say I'm ever OK with lukewarm tater tots, but...I gave them a break because it was Opening Week and everyone was trying to get acclimated and be accomodating to customers at the same time. It's Sonic so when you go you know what to expect: burgers, hot dogs, fried food on top of fried food, ice cream, shakes. I personally like Sonic as a fast food option. I think I like the novelty of it, being that there isn't one in my immediate area (yet). The food is ok, nothing amazing. I prefer the hot dogs to the burgers and the fries aren't anything special. They do sell tater tots which is unique given that most places don't. What I really like is that they serve their full breakfast menu all day, that's something that hardly any other fast food place in this area does. In fact, I can't even think of one besides them that does. Also, they offer a huge variety of drink options with their slush menu AND half priced shakes and slushed after 8. SCORE! I don't have super high expectations when it comes to fast food restaurants. As long as the food comes out as I order it and within a reasonable amount of time, the staff is friendly and the place is clean I'm typically ok. If I want a fine dining experience I'll go somewhere nicer, but for what it is I'm satisfied. I'd recommend sonic to someone looking for a quick, cheap, tasty bite. read more
