Brought my kids to try sonic for the first time, for a little something special, while my wife was away at a work conference. This was my 3rd time ever trying Sonic in my entire life, because there just weren't any near where I grew up or have ever lived. I know that they are famous for their drinks and my vague memory about the food was that it was just okay. Nevertheless, a milkshake for the kids was a fun idea, so I went for it. I pulled in to the lot, and there was quite a line. I eyed the outdoor patio, but didnt know how things worked, so I pulled into stall 25. After 2-3 minutes, we decided on what we wanted to order, so I pressed the button to be helped. The wait time was exhorbonant! The screen told me that someone would be with me soon, but I just kept waiting and waiting, WELL over 10 minutes. I kept my eyes glued to the screen and then abruptly, the notification about someone being with me soon disappeared. Was it so long that it TIMED OUT? I then had to depress the red button AGAIN. Once again, I waited. I am not talking a simple 3-5 minutes, but it took a solid 8 MORE minutes for someone to acknowledge me and take my order. The ordering process was great. The woman who took my order was friendly, didn't rush me, repeated my order back, and overall gave me very nice customer service. I asked if I could leave my car and take my kids over to the patio to eat as to avoid a mess in my car and she told me that would be no issue, so that's what we did. I have awarded 1 star for her! Little did I know that we would have to wait some MORE. It took 35 minutes for the food to arrive and at that point my kids were HANGRY. The young woman making the food deliveries was a sweet as sugar, so 1 star for her. The food: EHHHHH, totally not good. The fries probably took the cake for being the worst part of the meal. The burgers were absolutely average, the cheese (not the bread) on the grilled cheese was burnt, and the hot dog was presented very sloppily. Even the milkshakes (we tried strawberry, cookies N cream and peanut butter) were totally average, or even a tad below average, to be honest. It was fun to take my kids out for something new, but I do not plan to head back anytime soon. read more

I've been to Sonic on many an occasion. The other day, my wife and I decided to stop in for some beverages - nothing more. But we would soon discover that this was no ordinary afternoon jaunt to a local fast food establishment. Oh, no, dear reader... we were about to face a situation as unique as the flavor combination possibilities of a slush. What on earth would drive a man to write a review about a standard drive-in experience to purchase a frozen beverage. After all, dozens of times I'd made a similar trip - ordered via the Sonic app (for 1/2 price drinks all day, y'all) - and waited patiently for the carhop to bring my order to me. Always it was timely, always it was correct... and that didn't change on this fateful day... no. But something was definitely amiss. Welcome back, Matthew, the display read as I checked in... prompting the team inside to ready my order. It was simple - a large limeade and a medium limeade. Each customized to fit the palate of myself and my beloved. It didn't take long... and our world would soon be turned on it's head. A carhop approached. Out of consideration, I donned a mask. Safety first! Our interaction was brief - but left a lasting impression. She walked quickly, drinks on a tray, straws at the ready. As she approached I noticed she wore make-up. Silently, I wondered... was she wearing make-up on just the upper part of her face, or where her mask covered, too? How does one navigate that complication into the run of the mill getting ready routine of a trust Sonic worker? I rolled down my window, primed to receive the limeades balanced precariously. I read her nametag as she spoke. "Hi, welcome to Sonic. I'm your carhop, Jasmine. I have your large limeade and your medium limeade here." That was it - that was all she spoke - but my wife and I sat, stunned... that was all that needed to be said. I placed the drinks into cup holders, said thank you, confirmed I needed nothing else. She turned and walked away - I rolled up the window. Removed my mask. Turned to my wife. We both were in awe. "There's no way that was real," I said to her. My wife was shocked - still speechless. We'd both noticed something different about the normally ordinary spoken words of a carhop delivering items to a vehicle. Jasmine had just faked an extremely obvious, majorly drawn out, Southern accent. "Hah, welcome to Sahnic. Ahm your cahrhop, Jaysmihn. Ah haive your lahrge laaimaid and your meediam laaimaid heeah." We just stared at each other - not pulling our sedan out of our spot, not touching our drinks... just staring with amused grins at one another. Then, our minds started racing... "That was a fake accent, right?" "Why would she do that?" "Is she acting - maybe she's acting... like she is a CSUF drama student." "Maybe she's trying to mask a different accent." "Why... just why though?" "Is her name even Jasmine?" "Does she even work here?" "Maybe she just moved here from some Southern state..." "Does she try different voices with different customers? Or, is it always Southern?" "Does every worker try out different voices, or just her?" We sat there for far too long... we finally began sipping our drinks and I readied to leave the parking lot. The limeades were good, as per the usual from Sonic. But we were unsettled... and the mystery of the fake accented carhop puzzled us for the remainder of the day. "Is she actually Southern, but just bad at speaking?" "Like, does she get nervous? Is she trying to hide something?" "What happened in her life that would make her deceive strangers?" "What kind of life choices is Jasmine making? Why would anyone do this?" "That was definitely a fake accent, right?" All told. A fine experience - for a good price and we got exactly what we wanted. I'm pretty bummed with my experience today. The lady got my order wrong, set the stall to another one, then they didn't cook my food. I sat there waiting for 25 minutes before I had to go up to them & ask where my food was. Honestly, the food should've been free at that point. Not sure if it's this location or a state problem. I first tried Sonic's in Utah and have been there several times in two locations there. The cherry limeade is my go to, but this location I can barely taste the time, but I did see a lime wedge inside. The tater tots is still good, but would prefer to have more than 2 ketchup packets. Kind of stingy with the sauces here. The classic cheeseburger tasted different too, not sure if the patty was made a while ago or whatnot. read more

No matter how well I tried to communicate through the speaker box, they got the order wrong. Drove up to the window and spoke to the young lady to insure the order was correct. Try as I may, the order still came out wrong. This is the closest location. Will probably try the Pomona location which is a few miles further. I do not recommend this location. read more

The only reason I'm giving this place one star is because my son liked his slush with nerds. It was our first time here. Came around 1:45 on a Saturday and it wasn't busy. We parked in a stall and ordered two #2 combos with tots and slushes. . It took over 30 minutes to get our food. I had to use the speaker button to try to remind someone we were still here and waiting for our food. It came out - room temp and not even warm. No napkins. No condiments. If you are looking for fast, affordable, and delicious food, Sonics definitely is the place to be. With a huge menu that provides everything from burgers to chicken strips to ice cream to so much more, you cant go wrong. I will do a pros and cons for this one as there are quite a few Sonics Pros - The food is actually much better than you would expect. The burger is on point and the tots are really good. - Oceanwater.: my goodness.. and with that ice.. make sure to get it. - The grilled cheese from the value menu is really good. Make sure to get extra toasted - That cookie dough shake is a must for dessert - The service is actually quite fast at this one compared to others and I love how there's a digital screen to see order Cons - It is next to CSUF so it can get busy at certain times - the bathroom was out of order which was a bit of an issue Other than that, this Sonics hits all spots when it comes to enjoying a good meal read more

ZERO STARS I cannot believe how awful the service was at this location. My boyfriend and I couldn't make it to in n out because it was over crowded & this was right next store so we thought okay! No problem this should be fine ! Right? WRONG First off we placed an order at the parking menu station and we waited for 50 minutes!!!! With no communication from anyone on where our order was , whatever When we get out food it's stone freakin cold and out drinks aren't even filled to the top! Our shakes were completely melted ! We literally had to go home and microwave all of our food & put our shakes in the freezer because we couldn't possible eat that garbage. So bad! Ordered food on the app, sat around 15 minutes fighting with the app the manager was completely useless and I've been charged for my order. After 7 years, and before moving out of the area where there are no Sonic restaurants, I wanted to give them a last try since my last review was 1 star. The last 2 visits here in the last month were okay. The customer service improved a LOT. This place isn't filled with hateful employees who will close the window on you to chat w/ their coworkers like what happened last time. Drinks were good, food was good. They have coupons though advertised on the site to use in the app, but are nowhere to be found in the app. Disappointed because it could have saved me a lot of money. Also the last 2 visits here they REALLY skimped on the tater tots. I ordered a medium size both times, and it was only filled at the BOTTOM of the little cup, I could literally count out like 6 tots. I had a craving for a cookies and cream shake. What I got was just the chocolate cookie crumble itself. The inside of the sandwich filling was missing. And the cookie crumble was dry and had a plastic taste to it. Maybe it's been sitting there for too long. Very disappointing. I hate when places cut corners. I've loved Sonic for as long as I can remember!! This review is strictly for this one location which has sadly deteriorated in quality especially over the past few years. I've never seen the car hops actually function properly here...last year I came with some friends and after waiting 15+ minutes and re-pressing the button several times to order, we just went through the drive through and were in and out quickly with our food without any problem. Since then, the drive through wait times have increased and now it seems like the quality of the food is also decreasing. My SO and I waited over 45 min tonight in the drive through for 1 slushie & 1 order of onion rings. When we finally reached the speakers to order we were informed that there was no ice cream. That's fine, appreciate being told that before ordering at least. While in line we noticed several cars pull into the car hop spots and then leave without receiving any food..it seems that they are severely short-staffed at this location. The slush we got was delicious, the onion rings were not hot or crispy like they used to be and we only got 4 of them even though we ordered a medium. Kind of disappointing after such a long wait. Employees were ok. Overall, if you're willing to wait 45+ min for a slushie it's ok I guess, but I recommend trying out a different location to get a better experience ‍ read more

I always mobile order at this location and it must just be severely understaffed and have a huge management issue??? It takes 30 minutes on a GOOD day and they do not answering over the speaker. Would have given zero stars if possible. The employees rude, and stated that there was nothing they could do, for having a system that automatically up charges the customer on a combo. I ordered the sauced popcorn chicken large combo and was told all prices at all local Sonics are reported incorrectly at the menus vs what they charge. And that they were not able to do anything except for me to call the hotline number. There was no offer to remove the charge, was not even apologized to. I would give this place zero star's if I could. Make a complaint to corporate (866) 657-6642, they ask if you want a coupon instead of actually fixing all the issues this location currently has. Do not take the coupon you'll still have to wait 40mins for your drink again. Horrible staff, the manager informed us he gets paid $15 an hour and everyone else gets paid $14 an hour. The drive through stalls are always closed, Do not order from the app because they will not complete your order and you'll just wait an hour to find out they skipped your order. read more

quite literally the WORST experience ever from a fast food place. i ordered three shakes and three slushes on the mobile app for pick up at 9:40 and only received two of the shakes that were fully melted (like literally water) after waiting 20 minutes (after check in) i called and informed them about the state of the shakes and that one was missing and they said they would bring out new ones and the missing third shake immediately. after 25 minutes and no shakes in sight i had to drive through and pay AGAIN for the three shakes i had already paid for in the beginning. when i arrived to the window all the workers were talking and laughing and completely disregarding the orders from the drive in and joking about it. the wait was so extreme i had seen multiple get out of the car in the drive in part and go in to complain and receive their orders. disgusting service all around. after receiving the new shakes from the drive through, they were not what we ordered and just three random shakes. read more

Honestly I hope that you take the constructive criticism as a tool to improve your business. Customer service has not been a priority for this location since they've opened. I get that some people don't work hard because hey "it's just Sonic". Maybe it's the pay scale or the leadership. My guess it's a bit of both. You can look right across the street at In-N-Out and see a team that's really cares about the customer experience. Sonic does not care about that same experience. This is evident by the way their California stored operate. Time and time again they put forth half effort and sub standard quality products. This is not Oklahoma and those half hearted approaches to the customers experience won't work here. After 4-5 bad experiences with this Sonic I will have to go somewhere else in order to have a great customer experience. read more
