Ahhh fast food hamburgers... Everyone has eaten them at one time or another in their life; It's a category in its own. I had never been to a Sonic prior to six months ago. I had however heard a lot of positive things about them from various people over the years, I just never got around to it. Now that I actually have had a chance to gorge on a burger and fries at this location I am no longer a Sonic virgin. The burger and fries were just... good. As far as junk food goes, I would rate it quality wise on par with Wendy's, but better than Burger King or McDonald's. The drive-through area/eat in your car theme was retro and cool but does not add any true value to the experience. That being said, if I had a fast food craving I could not imagine myself driving past a perfectly good Wendy's to make a trip to eat at Sonic . A drive-thru experience. The chocolate shake was excellent, topped with a big twist of whipped cream. Topping off the great shake was some excellent customer service. The car in front of us ordered everyhting on the menu and the staff brought the shake out to our car while we were still on the line heading to the pick-up window, saving us a bunch of waiting time. 1/2 price milkshakes after 8pm during the summer. They stay open pretty late here too. Need I say more? This is a drive thru establishment with a parking lot where you can order from your car. Service is slow at times, but the milkshakes are good and there are alot of flavors to choose from. Sonic frequently runs different kinds of specials for their food. So sometimes you can get food here uber cheap. For example, today - July 23rd, you can get an all american dog or a chili cheese dog for $1. read more

When J was driving to Garden State Mall, I saw a Sonic on the way there and though I have seen the commercials here in NY, but never came across any until NJ. I don't do fast food but I do have certain cravings for Taco Cabana and Chik-fil-a. On occasion for Sonic's chili dog and limeade! J has never heard of Sonic, so instead of going somewhere else for dinner, I convinced J to stop at Sonic. J ordered the Large chili & cheese tater tots, fish sandwich, popcorn chicken and I got my chili dog combo that came with tater tots and strawberry limeade. Tater tots were okay here, but the chili dog and my limeade were worth coming back. And I don't even drink soda but I love love love their limeade. After J finished eating, J said it was good, but you can't eat like this all the time. Duh, I am not trying to have a heart attack! Service was great and it's cute that the staff are on rollers here. I never saw any of the staffs in Texas rolling around in skates there. read more

Horrible experience. I drove to the parking spot to place my order only to find out they were only serving via the drive through. Ok, a sign stating this would have been nice! My first fast food review!!! and well deserved!! I don't think I could adequately describe my excitement for having a sonic within driving distance from my casa (oh less than 3 miles!!) - but lemme try -- YEEEHAWWW!!!!!! While yes there is a LONG wait - I'm totally fine with that - heck! New Yorkers and Jerseyites alike are super excited - and understandably so! :) (ew New Yorkers - I saw many an NY plate. Can we say 'bridge and tunnel invasion?' ick! ;) I will say the fries tasted a little strange to me - I dont know if it's the oil or what? But I got past that (for the most part). The first bite of the burger had me worried - I thought - too much bread? Not enough of everything else? But the next several bites allayed my worries in a heart beat! Perfectly flavored beef, amazingly spicy jalapenos, pickles, ketchup! Yum!! and yay!! I Love You Sonic! oh and the cherry limeade was decent too ;) I am not sure that the S. Marisol at the 156 NJ-17 location argued with us for 5 minutes about our pick up order. She kept saying we had to confirm our order, but apparently she doesn't know how to work the pick up system. You can see in the photos I attached that even an HOUR LATER they still have not marked it complete, it's showing as an active order, so how can I possibly confirm pickup?! I even called grub hub to tell them about the problem, they said it was up to the restaurant to properly update the order status. The app did NOT have a confirm pickup button, as it was still in the status "in the works." Without them marking in the system that they're FINISHED with making the order, how can I confirm pick up?! The button will NOT SHOW UP until they have properly entered the status of the order. This lady was so incredibly rude and unhelpful, saying she was not trying to argue when she indeed was, then laughing with another employee after the fact. I even showed her my phone with the receipt on it, she kept saying we might be trying to steal the order. I asked her how would that be possible to steal the order that's in my app on my phone that I'm showing her. She kept just repeating to confirm pickup. I showed her my phone and asked her where the button is, and she said she didn't know. That's because YOU failed to mark the order complete, so there IS NO CONFIRM PICKUP option. I worked in customer service for years and never was so rude with customers. Then again, we didn't have any issues with customers being able to pick up their orders. read more

I went through the drive thru instead of doing car service. Though, the concept is adorable. We were just craving some junk food. I had the regular cheeseburger with some onion rings. We then sat in the car service and ate (since it was pretty late at night and not a lot of people). First off, no napkins. Also, no ketchup or any condiments. The onion rings were really meh. They were dry and hard. It just tasted like rock hard breading. The cheeseburger was decent. I'd put it a little above Burger King but that's about it. Half way through however, I was already full so that is one positive. (Either it's that filling or I'm finally not as big of an eater as I used to be.) The meal is about $7.50 and I kept thinking, "I'd rather pay more for better." Also, I wasn't feeling great at 10 pm eating a greasy burger. My lips were still wet from the grease as we drove home. Love it! Went simple; got a double cheese burger and strawberry milkshake. First off- they give the burgers in little paper bags that make it super convenient to eat on the go- shoutout to Sonic for thinking of us car-eaters. The burger was great! Very fresh, didn't taste heavy and oily. It was satisfying and tasted great! Strawberry milkshake was really good too, little bits of strawberries and creamy goodness. Disliked the fact that I could barely read anything on the drive thru menu, but the guy helping me (Fahad) was more than happy to read off anything i couldn't see which I really appreciated. There were a few other signs which prompted us to order a few sale menu items. Well they had old signs up and would not honor the prices. The manager walked out to our car to inform us rather briskly that they would not honor the sign prices. After that neither one of us was interested in placing an order so we left. You know I want so badly to love Sonics. But the truth is I can't. Is there any indoor service? I can never read the tiny printed huge menus and think I'm getting a deal but I'm not. The corn dogs aren't even beef hot dogs :-( They are cheap "variety meat" on a stick, breaded and deep fried The very only saving grace to this expensive fast food chain are the tots. Sonic is somewhat of a novelty in northern New Jersey because we never had Sonic until fairly recently. Having said that, I think this location is hampered by an inadequate driveway and inadequate parking bays. I don't blame the restaurant chain. From what I've seen, it's around the same size as all their other Sonic drive-ins but they never anticipated the crowd. Even two months after the grand opening, there is still a queue and they still need police to direct traffic. Worse yet, there have been accidents with injuries. The food is fairly typical American-style burgers and shakes fast food. Prices are typical for fast food too, although there are posted specials sometimes. (I recently picked up their burger and shake special for not much more than the price of a regular shake.) If you manage to snag one of the parking bays with the menu and microphone, you can place your order there and a carhop will rollerskate the food out to your car. It remains to be seen how they'll rollerskate when there's a blizzard. read more

Very disappointing. I never write reviews, but I honestly couldn't believe that our drive through order was wrong. This is likely location specific (Hasbrouck Heights). Not only did we repeat the order a few times, but we screamed it cause the person taking the order kept repeating back the wrong thing (couldn't hear it seemed). I don't get it. If there is a speaker issue, then fix it, or if it's operator error, fix it! We had to throw away my son's burger cause it was not at all what we ordered, fries were bad. You just can't go back once you start driving so we went to Smash burger on way back - much much better - what a waste -pissed me off fast food has to be decent and correct otherwise what's the point? read more

Of course, some drive-thru has to be the slowest one in town, but why does the Sonic in Meridian have to earn this title so spectacularly? During that time, l watched various employees exit the restaurant, and exchange payment for food, with more than one car *behind* me. Once, someone tried to give me (and charge me for) the order of another customer. Then, having been taken care of, those cars, WHICH WERE BEHIND MINE, drove off. One might wonder at the complexity of my order, so l will elaborate. I ordered one footlong coney hot dog. That's it- not even a drink. How could they not manage one stupid hot dog, in ten minutes? I am unable to imagine that the customers behind me has *less* complicated orders. And they all had drinks. I know the answer, of course, and it's quite simple: They can be THAT slow, because they're Sonic. And Sonic *owns* the title of "slowest drive-thru in town." P.S. As a matter of fact, your representative (Khyla) did not even understand my issue! How difficult could it be to understand someone has hacked my sonic account on YOUR end and has used my account, spending all of the money except for .56 cents!? You had a major data breach in 2017 that resulted in a class action lawsuit settlement of $4.3 million; I would think you would've learned from that. OREO SONIC BLAST is absolutely scrumptious. 11/10 Avoid the hamburgers, however. For this particular location, make sure to bring a megaphone because of the poor acoustics/placement of the drive thru ordering platform. Prepare to spend the rest of your life in the drive thru. This rivals that of the Willowbrook Mall Starbucks. I can purchase all outstanding shares of Apple Inc with the amount of gas I wasted idling, waiting in this drive thru. read more

It's sad how locations vary. I would absolutely give a five-star rating to the location in Hudson Oaks, Texas, but the location on south Main in Weatherford has ruined that. What was ordered yesterday and what was received were two different things.
