It was topped with their signature pickle relish. The bun was nice and soft. The taste of the burger was a symphony in my mouth. The fries were fresh and perfectly salted. Eating at Dick's is line going back in time. Feels like an old school drive in where you beat on the trunk of your car. It has a great ambiance. Service was quick and very friendly. This location was the closest to our airport hotel so we placed a delivery order on their site (DoorDash) for a late dinner (around 10:30). Simple menu with 6 types of burgers ranging from $2.45 to $5.30, fries, ice cream, shakes and sodas. No combos, all a la carte. Okay so I lived in Washington for my first 25 years and never tried dicks. I know, don't judge me. I just never got around to trying it and didn't care to go out of my way. With that said, I have a few thoughts. I personally think the burger itself is over hyped. People have told me it's one of the best fast food burgers in the greater Seattle area, and I think they were saying that based on pride. Like it was good, but not the best thing I've ever had. With that said, I do think the bang for the buck is pretty darn good. The deluxe is a solid amount for $5, especially these days. Compare that to other fast food places and it's right on par with what you'd get. Plus, dicks does a lot for the community and always gives back. It's a worth a visit just because of that. I'm glad I tried it and if it was next door to my hotel I'd try it again for convenience but I wouldn't go out of my way again. If you are a fan of Dick's Drive in (and many people who live in Seattle definitely are) then Kent is your destination!! From the SeaTac airport, drive down southbound I-5, and hang a right on exit 149, then southbound again on Pacific Highway. Keep driving until you see the Dick's Drive In sign! Yes, you will go out of your way, like I do. And, oddly, it's not as far away as you think. You do have to some street maneuvering to get there, as it's not a quick turnaround to get there if you are driving southbound, but it's manageable. I'm not sure how busy it is on weeknights, but for sure, it can be crowded on a Friday or Saturday night. And it won't fail you if you want to get there before 2am if you are needing that Dick's Deluxe burger with special-fry sauce. And make sure you time your journey accordingly, because when you order your fries, you want to make sure they are still nice and hot - the draw back of making fries with fresh potatoes every day. I personally don't get shakes with my burgers, but like all other locations, they have them and they are efficient when getting them out, and they are just as tasty in Kent, as they are in every other location that Dick's has a store. This is an FYI, we purchased over $30 worth of food, only to come home and find that they didn't pack one of our deluxe. I was too tired to drive back and decided to call the next day. Rude impatient staff. Ordered food and told I needed to wait for an item. I waited by my car parked directly infront of their counters. It's a NW/Northwest thing. Only we get it? Another aspect to food is the atmosphere and it's employees and how they're treated. Dick's has been well known to support their staff like only a few other restaurants. Another is their events like yesterday. So much fun to be surrounded by humble talented innovators and sculptures. We celebrated cars from the 40's to the 60's. They also provided us with food and memorabilia. The merchandise for Dicks is super awesome and I suggest the cool blue hats and shirts. The entire parking lot is full of drag racing kids with loud cars. I am unable to leave the place because they're everywhere. Somebody opened their car door and slammed it into the side of my car. As a transplant who has been living in WA for 7 years now, I was told that I had to come to Dick's because it was a Washingtonian thing. It's unlike any place I've been--you place your order outside at one of the stations and the order gets turned around in minutes. The servers and cooks must work very hard!
