Newburghers have been taunted by Sonic commercials for years. I say taunted because most of us have never seen a Sonic before!!! It's in the Walmart parking lot so it's easy to find. The deal is that it's all drive thru. It's kind of like a gas station. The server ACTUALLY rollerskates your order out to you. (Our guy didn't really know how to stop but hey, I'm not there for the graceful service.) I wasn't hungry (I had just been to FIVE GUYS BURGERS AND FRIES) so I ordered a milkshake, since they are BUY ONE GET ONE FREE!!! How amazing is that??? For $2.91 I got a vanilla shake for my mom and the most delicious, sweet, creamy, fresh peanut butter and hot fudge shake for myself. When they say real ice cream, they mean it. The guy taking our order sounded like he hated his job. He cut me off several times. We waited a long time for food even though the drive in was empty, and it still came out cold. Probably won't be back, Sonic is expensive for fast food and we could have gotten better quality from a dollar cheeseburger at McD's. read more

Worst drive thru experience in my life. We pull up the car hop at 7:45pm. I press the button when I'm ready, girl on headset goes , "pull through to the drive thru." She said it so quickly I barely understood her. So We get in line and sit there for 10 minutes waiting to get to the speaker. I am in the middle of saying my first sentence and the same girl interrupts me saying "ok." And every single sentence I'm saying from then on was interrupted until I was done ordering. Which took so long because she wouldn't let me finish saying anything. I had ordered 2 cokes and 1 strawberry sprite. So we pull up to the window and she goes okay here's one coke and the 2 strawberry sprites will be right out. I say "it was 2 cokes, one sprite." The kid filling the drinks throws his hands up in the air like it inconvenienced him in the slightest. If the drive thru girl had actually LISTENED to me and let me speak there wouldn't have been any errors. So then they hand me another coke. No sprite yet. They come back and hand us our food, I ask for marinara and ranch. The tall kid goes "marinara is in there." He gave us two marinaras for three mozzarella stick orders. So I pull away. Forgot my sprite. So I pull back around (after waiting 20 more minutes in line) and say I just ordered and didn't get my sprite. Girl gives me an attitude and says "someone will be right out with it." The tall kid walks out and had the nerve to say "you didn't want this but I'll give it to you anyway." Continues to argue with us saying "you didn't order three drinks." And then says "we gave you the sprite already." And is just a total prick. Totally immature and a waste of my time going here. And not to mention there were 4 people in the building. The tall kid, the rude drive thru girl and two other kids just standing in the food area watching them be rude. These kids will be the reason this location shuts down like the rest of them. read more

This Sonic in Newburgh by 300 by Walmart has the nastiest,curliest employee's ever. First of all the lady who took our order was very rude was very inpatient just over all wasn't friendly. Then she got our order incomplete and wrong. On top of that the cashier was also rude and lacked understanding. So he refused to retake our order right at the window so our experience was not good at all. Very disappointing. This was not the first time this has happened. read more

Best onion rings EVER ..tasted like doughnut onion rings .. so awesome !!!! Chili dog was good , hubbys cheesteak was delicious , had a bite of that .. his ice cream sundae ice cream wasn't the greatest but he ate it .. all in all very good drive through food !! read more

I have never made it out of there in under 30 minutes. It always takes so long. I watched the drive thru lane sit there not moving at all and the car next to mine at the pull up order spot was there even longer than me and seemed to be going nuts. The servers are always really nice and and ice cream is decent but I always regret going because it takes SO long. read more

Blah, what can I say about Sonic other than dry burgers. I think it's great that they make your food to order and they stick to the old school theme of 1950's drive ins but dry burger? No thank you. The tater tots were pretty darn good though. read more

Ridiculous wait times, truly subpar fare and inattentive wait service (I assume from under staffing) plagued my one and only visit to a Sonic. Let's be honest, I never assumed the quality of the food would be high, it is, after all fast food. That said, it wasn't even enjoyable as a guilty pleasure. TERRIBLE SONIC. Went to this Sonic twice in the past few months both times I was unable to order because the employee kept Interrupting and talking over me while I was trying to place it. Last time, I asked her to stop talking so I could order but she continued to speak over me. It's obvious that the employees don't want to be bothered with customers. Not being able to place an order, I left and went to McDonalds. I had no problem placing an order there. Looking at all the negative reviews, I doubt this place will be in business much longer. So my Dad and I really wanted to get Sonic, but the one in Wappingers closed a long time ago (it was managed terribly). We read the reviews on this one and weren't expecting much. But were pleasantly surprised. We ordered at 6:09pm and the food was out by 6:16pm (less than ten minutes). The food was really good (it was nice and hot as well). We had 3 meals (with drinks) and 3 shakes. The only thing they forgot was mustard and onions on one. The only other thing was the card reader didn't work, but the server didn't even bat an eye, took the card ran and rang it up and was very nice about it. The server himself was extremely friendly! When we asked for ketchup he said there should be some in the bag, when we checked again there wasn't any and he said he would make sure got some, sure enough, he sent the girl out with plenty! I went to Sonic on Monday February 8 on a whim before I started a new diet. I purchased one hot dog with mustard and kraut. I proceeded to park my car and eat it and when I looked down, after I had been eating, the bread underneath was covered in mold!! Yes, I drove to the drive thru and got a refund....my compensation? A token for a free drink and no answer from the 2 emails I sent to corporate addresses found on line. YUK! read more

I live somewhat close by to sonic so I do enjoy going there during the nicer weather. Their burgers are very good and it's really fun having the servers Rollerskate up to your car! Just don't go there if you are a little pressed for time .. The food is very good though for a fast food chain! read more

Came with family to eat a late meal around 9:30 pm. We parked the car in the lot and made our way to the outside table areas to order. We were met by a young lady who told us that since we drove there we had to order from the drive through or our car in order to eat at those tables! The other people trying to order were ok since they walked over from the Walmart parking lot. I asked if we could order from the outside table if we were in the Walmart parking lot and walked over and she said "yes". We absolutely thought it was a joke and absurd. The other guest that were ordering outside couldn't believe it either. At the time no one was sitting at outside tables, only 4 cars in drive through, and most outside spots were open. It was so bazaar that we left to eat elsewhere. We will never come back. read more

I have been to many different Sonic's, but this is the first time I have ever experienced such rudeness and incompetence. My friends and I were up in New Windsor playing Airsoft and needed some quick food before we made the trek back to New Jersey. We thought that Sonic would be a good choice. But the woman who was taking orders was very rude. She was rushing us and kept interrupting while we were trying to order. She also cut us off the speaker early before we finished ordering and didn't even give us our order total. I ordered the jumbo popcorn chicken with tater tots and a cherry limade, one each for my brother and I. The chicken was decent. The tater tots were not crispy at all and very soggy. The cherry limades were TERRIBLE. If you have ever ordered a cherry limade, you know that its sprite or sierra mist or 7-Up mixed with cherry syrup. Our cherry limades were water mixed with cherry syrup. It tasted horrible and disgusting. When I tried to tell/explain to the car hop about the cherry limades, all she did was give us so much attitude and brought back exactly was we had before, water and cherry syrup. It was so disappointing to have to pay for food and not get what you ordered, plus the car hop giving you so much attitude. This sonic is no longer getting our business. read more

You gotta understand the workers frustration with dealing with a lot of orders daily, over the fact some people tend to ask stupid requests at sonic, asking for stuff that aren't on the meau..from what I hear when I go their to eat. They don't mean to be rude just overwhelm by the people who ask for to much along with being impatient. If there is a line behind you then you gotta understand that others are waiting for their stuff too..other thing I hear people are always adding stuff at the last mintue so ya don't think they have other orders to take care of for other customers not just you..It's rough at sonic I feel bad for the workers..It's not their fault they work there, they need money to support their family or themselves. It's hard these days for some people, you have to understand that. Life is hard and the world we live in isnt nice place to those who work hard at a shitty job, trying to please people with the food. So next time you get upset at a fast food restaurant think about how the workers feel as well, cause they are people as well..have a wonderful day and try to be more open minded on people's lives instead of yours. read more

Second time I've been to a Sonic and this was as good as the first....quick service, friendly staff, tasty food. Would come back.

I was so excited for a Sonic to open in Newburgh, but I've been dissapointed every time I go! The first time I went, they had a LOT of trouble understanding what we were ordering, and when they FINALLY brought our food out to the car almost everything was wrong. Every time I've gone since, I use the drive-through to try to save some time but it also takes sooo long. The only time it's worth going to Sonic is during happy hour for a half priced drink, as long as there's no drive-through line or you'll be waiting forever! read more

Read some negative reviews, but since I'm rarely in the area for a Sonic I thought I'd give it a try anyways. It was actually my first time ever at a Sonic. Got there and the car park area wasn't very busy but the drive-through was packed. We parked and took a while just trying to decide what to eat from the giant menu. Put in our order, which was very long, and everything came out correct without too long a wait. Very polite service. Made a second order as well! Maybe I got lucky and went at a time where the employees were better, but I give this Sonic my full recommendation. Going to think about that epic meal I had there for some time to come. read more

The burgers are tasty but at $3.89 plus tax, you're better off ordering a McDouble for a $1. You'll get more. The Sonic fries are average and the limeades that are diet-flavored taste far too artificial. The Texas toast Philly cheese steak is flavorless. Add the tip for the car hop and the bill for two adults and a child was $25. That hit me like a sonic boom. It caught me off-guard. It's not worth the cost, especially for fast food. This sonic is the WORST one in this area. The employees here are terrible and the wait for the drive thru is ridiculous. I ordered a simple burger with no cheese or mayo, received it and decided to open it up in front of the employee to find that there was cheese and mayo on my burger. When asked if he can fix it, he laughed, slammed the drive thru window, came back in 7 minutes and told me it was fixed. It was not fixed. Called and asked to speak with a manager here to only get rudely told that I would have to call corporate. Never again. read more

I stopped at this location on the way home from work for a quick dinner to bring home to my husband. There was only 1 car at the drive-thru window when I pulled up to the ordering kiosk. After being told "I will be right with you" I waited for a minute or two and then ordered a chicken sandwich and a small diet coke. I then pulled up behind the car that was still at the window. And waited... Finally the car moved and I pull up with my money in hand. I expected to be acknowledged but no. So I sat there - watched the cashier play with the screen in front of her, another worker was standing with her - they were talking and then bumped each other as they laughed and he then walked away. Not my cashier though - she kept hitting something on her screen in front of her - but wasn't looking out the window at me to either collect my money or apologize for the delay. So after a couple more minutes and watching the woman in the red shirt finish filling the chocolate syrup in her station, I waved my arms and the cashier looked out and then opened the window. Did she say sorry for the wait - or sorry I didn't see you??? Wait - how about Hello????? No - She just stated the amount due. So I asked her - "No sorry for the wait?" She said - Oh - Sorry. I said me too and handed her the money. She took it and closed the window - no other interaction. Not even to give me my change. So I waited some more, the red shirt woman came over and looked at her screen and at this point I am done. So I waved for attention. They wouldn't open the window but instead looked at me. I said I changed my mind - they said something to each other and they gave me my money back - without even a word. I drove away, went to Wendy's and had a great experience. Next time I am coming home from work in that direction - I will take this experience into account when deciding where to spend my money. read more

I have been to this sonic a couple of times, but yesterdays lunch was a complete disaster. The ocean water route 44 had lumps in it that made you gag when swallowed and one of the hot dogs roll was so soggy with relish juice, that you couldn't pick it up. The grilled chicken sandwich was dry and rubbery and the tater tots were so over done that they were only crunch with no tater inside. My daughter and I were there yesterday for lunch at 11:51. Just left Sonic in Newburgh, very disappointed. Ordered 2 large strawberry shakes and after about 1/3 of the shake there is only vanilla ice cream! Plus server was given a $10 bill and said he would be back with change this is frustrating to have to wait plus the last time here I had $5 in change coming back from an order of 2 medium soft drinks and the server never returned with my change. I pushed the red button and ask for it, was told just a moment after another 10 minutes server never returned with change so I left! That is sooooo wrong! read more
