Definitely a hit or miss. I rarely go here because of this. One time picking up a DoorDash I was sitting for over ten mins just for them to forget to bring me out their order now it's cold. Today going there confirmed I won't be back. I sat at the speaker for a total of 30 mins. The person in front of me didn't get to order for like 15 minutes then I spent another 15 at the speaker myself just for them to wave me up to the window.. I asked what was wrong with the speaker and he said it didn't beep when I pulled up so they didn't know but clearly you had to know because you guys looked at my car at the speaker multiple times.. people were getting out their cars to order because the stalls nobody was answering .. multiple employees were there . Sanitation rating being a 92.5 .. no thanks. Also the window person just wasn't listening, anyways two small root beer floats, cheese fry and onion ring was 18 until I told him double check that order then it was 11.. whole order was pathetic I mean look at it read more

Bald head guy didn't take my order properly and he didn't let me finish my order. I had to go to the window to get my second order. He then proceeds to give me my change back and I find out he gave me the wrong change. Then when I get my drinks and food, I was missing one more drink and I almost drove away without it. This Sonic is horrible. Several drive-in screens were completely dead and I waited over ten minutes at another without any employees coming up or my even being allowed to order. I also waited several minutes in the drive-through line with nobody responding to my repeated greetings. The lowdown: Not sure if this was a bad day, a new employee, or what, but I ordered 3 things: grilled cheese, mozzarella sticks and a diet Dr.Pepper. only one thing came out correctly, the grilled cheese. I tried this sonic because it's near my work AND I get a Yelp kick back! (Woot woot) I have to admit that I was disappointed. I love the sonic in Rolesville and Wake Forest( off stadium Dr). However, for some reason, this one on Atlantic couldn't get it right. They forgot my marinara sauce for my mozzarella sticks, and at first didn't even give me my drink. I have been to this @SonicDriveIn several times, as there only a couple in Raleigh. Sometimes the carhop will even come out on roller skates here. Make sure that you sign up for their email club, as they frequently have specials, and coupons. I like their burgers, fries, tots, dogs, and slushes, but their shakes are not as great as Cook Out in my opinion. You can either dine-in your car, go through the drive-thru, or sit under the covered area to order, and enjoy your food at this location. They even have free Wi-Fi here. #393 read more

I thought for sure the rating was incorrect so I drove the 15 minutes. It is absolutely accurate. After a painful maybe seven minutes trying to put in an order for a number six adding chili cheese to the fries, asking if I could add a sundae with a small up charge, being told yes and then seeing it was in fact full price the person accidentally deleted my entire order and we had to start over. They didn't remember one single thing and also ask questions about things I had never mentioned like did I want tater tots this time. No. We have just discussed chili cheese fries at least three times in the past 5 minutes. This was painful. This location seemed out of date. The parking spaces were really tight. The waitress could barely hand us our food. The card reader was not working and the young lady had to go back in and swipe the card which took a while. The order was two big scoop ice cream sundaes and a order of hotdogs for my other half. I placed an order via the app at 3:32 PM for a 3:40 pickup. I arrived at 3:40, checked in and the app informed me that my shake was on the way. 5 minutes went by, then 10 and then 15 so I finally pressed the red button to ask about my shake and they claim it never showed up on their end. When the carhop finally brought me my shake, I asked to speak to a manager, waited 10 minutes for the manager to come out and they never showed their face. Sonic Drive-In is a novel idea, but the service and food on Atlantic Ave are terrible. There appeared to be only one person working while three others were standing around talking. She was taking orders inside and out. Although she was obviously new, she was polite. No one answered the intercom. I and the car ahead pulled forward to the window after having sat there for over 10 minutes without acknowledgment. After pulling forward, I still had to wait for at least 30 minutes to get my order. The footlong wasn't how I ordered. I was charged for two footlong combos even though I ordered only one. I figured I could eat the second later, so I did not make a fuss because, again, the young lady was new. The food was sloppy, and the onion rings and jalapeños bites were burnt and inedible. The lemonade and cherry drink was tart. It wasn't lemonade with a mix of cherry but cherry with a splash of lemonade. Customers left because they were tired of waiting. I asked if I should pull forward but was told no. The manager didn't care. He came out and talked to a person on the passenger's side and, after a while, actually got into the car. I called later to speak to a manager. The female manager apologized profusely and offered to remake my order. She asked if I could come before her shift ended at 1 on Saturday. I agreed. The male manager was on shift, and he was as rude and non caring as before. I showed him my receipt and told him what the female manager said about redoing the order. He barked the order to the cooks. Once again, the food was sloppy, the onion rings and jalapeños bites were burnt, and they forgot my drinks. I actually enjoy their food but this specific location has butchered our order every time we have been here. Each of those mess ups include missing items, cheese on my burgers when we've been very clear about wanting no cheese on them, and didn't make their blasts properly. I normally try to be patient and understanding but as a pregnant woman with a severe craving for a sonic burger without cheese and it comes with it, it leads to a severe break down and depression which seems ridiculous but if you've ever been pregnant than you will understand what I mean. The food here is not the problem. They apparently have an issue with the Sonic App though. I've tried four different times to order Sonic burger combos online and through the app which were all declined because that location could not fulfill the items requested.
