I lived near this Sonic for almost 11 years and have only tried it twice. Now I my opinion is again reinforced on why I don't go there. I thought I'd give it another chance, but what happens? Sonic charged me $0.60 for a measly slice of lemon for my coke. No where does it say on their menu that lemons are an extra charge. I love their real fruit slushes! I usually get strawberry lime real fruit slush (you have to add in the "real fruit" or else you get syrup-based slushes). They're really amazing, but just not consistent. Sometime I'll get a really goon one with lots of strawberry chunks and sometimes I get one with hardly any flavor. And on a couple of occasions, they did not get my order correct. One time I ended up with a limeade AND a strawberry slush. But if you go for happy hour between 2-4pm everyday, all the drink and desserts are half off. Which means, a medium slush is like a dollar. Sweet deal! read more

I'm not a big fan of Sonic's, but I drive past this place every time I drive back and forth between San Jose and Sacramento. It's a convenient place to grab some food and take a pit stop. I get hungry, so I take the Eight Mile Road exit on I5 to get some food. The food here is good, but I love their tater tots & the slushies are yummy! I believe there's happy hour -- half off slushies from 2 to 5pm, but I'm not sure if that's still happening. The workers roller skates the food over to your car, so that's something different and cool :) You can sit in your car to eat, but they have a few seats available outside too. read more

Wow! I'm surprised by the low ratings review. Maybe it's the timing of arrival of the location or base on an employee who serves you. It was our first time here on March 3rd around 11am and we took awhile to order our food. Since Sonic is not avail in our location in Sac. Twisted pretzel with cheese: 5/5 the pretzel was firm and soft on the inside. The cheese sauce was cold (fridge) we end up not using it. Bacon Cheese Toaster: 4/5 thick bread, slightly toasted, patties with cheese and bacon. Pretty good, only complaint is that it needs to be toasted/grilled longer. Tater tots with honey mustard sauce: 4/5 not too salty and crispy outer layer. Mozzarella sticks (small) with marinara sauce:5/5 cheesy and weren't soggy. Ched 'R peppers with Ranch sauce: 3/5 not spicy at all. Stuffed with cheese. Jalapeños were too then for my liking Jumbo popcorn with BBQ sauce: 3/5. They are okay. Wished it was a lil more crispier. You get an option of crispy or spicy. Pretzel dog: 4/5 my kid approved. He ate only half of it and was pretty much full from his other snacks that we ordered. Cheesecake milk shake: 5/5 super delicious. It took me awhile to drink it because it was so thick. Service was fantastic. Tiffany T. is super friendly and bubbly. Gave us extra napkins and even help us swipe our card because the one that we have didn't work. She even wiped the drips off my milkshake and have an excellent customer service. Our second time leaving, I started eating my "chicken sandwich" and told my husband it's not what I ordered! That I was indeed eating a FISH sandwich. When we finally finished they brought us the wrong order, and when we corrected them they brought us half of our order and said the other half was the previous order they brought us that was wrong. We love the Happy Hour Drink specials. The drinks are half price everyday from (2pm-5pm). You can't beat the price especially when there are hundreds of ways to create your own drink. They do serve food as well, I'm just not a fan for tater tots or hot dogs (something I could microwave myself at home) so I stay away from the food items. It's hit or miss , I've been there when it busy as heck and the food and service was good . This is the second bad experience I had had there . The first was , I went and ordered food at the pull up ordering stall . I placed my order and paid then I waited ,and waited ,and waited after about 40 minutes I pressed the button and spoke to the cashier and they stated they tried to bring out my food 20 minutes earlier , and they would bring it right out . I don't think so after they let it set around in a bag and get cold . I didn't move my car at anytime . They refunded my money as I asked . Second incident occurred today I ordered a breakfast burrito combo . And when I went to eat the burrito it was hard and mangled . Looked like it was quite old . Not a fan of Sonic foods. I only go there when they have special deals. Today's deal was a "grilled" cheese sandwich for $.50. Sounds great, doesn't it? Well, the way they make the grilled cheese sandwich, it turns out to be a warm mess. I ordered the maximum of five sandwiches and I paid extra for double cheese... $.80 per sandwich. The first time they brought out my order it appeared to be just bread with a little bit of cheese in the middle. Not happy, it was not grilled. The second time they brought it out it had barely been toasted. At that point I asked to speak to the manager whose name was Manuel. Manuel brought the order out again it did not appear to have much cheese on it much less double cheese like I paid for. Manuel went back and re-cooked the order himself and brought it back out. This time it look passable. The corporate ad and picture clearly states and shows a grilled cheese sandwich. In the picture it appears that the bread has been buttered and then grilled for a golden brown toasty look. In reality, it certainly does not turn out that way. I appreciate that Manuel tried to make it right. He definitely went the extra mile to keep me happy. But it appears that they are not set up to make the grilled sandwiches properly. I cannot recommend their grilled cheese sandwiches. One star for their sandwiches and food. And an extra star for Manuel. Thanks again Manuel for trying! read more

I keep coming back hoping this restaurant gets better...then I am reminded the lack of quality here. I don't understand because this place is constantly busy. The positives: this chain has creative and interesting shakes, floats and drinks. Where else can you get a drink with Nerds candy? They also offer different kinds of hot dogs, while some chains don't even offer hot dogs. I also like that they offer tater tots as an option. Sometimes fries can get boring, you know? It's a nice twist to the fried potato paired with a cheeseburger. The negatives: because this location is small, be prepared for a long wait for your food. I have tried the drive-up and the drive-thru and either way, it's a longer wait than other chains (even In-N-Out). I was so disappointed with the chili cheese tater tots. Chili lacked flavor, cheese was skimpy and there were maybe 7 tots in my dish. I know the items are cheap, but you don't have to make it look cheap. I want to like this unique chain with the roller-skating waiters like the '50's but...it's not worth the money or calories. read more
