Sonic has really lost their touch. Went to Sonic yesterday to get 2 milkshakes and man was I disappointed. I ordered a banana shake and a strawberry/banana shake and let me tell you they were the worst milkshake I ever had. Okay so tonight they were packed! The drive through had about 6 cars, and the left side of the drive up menus was pretty much full. I knew we had to be patient! I get that.. We chose drive thru, and they were actually pretty quick! One thing I thought was cool that they did.. the car in front of us didn't order much so they came out and had them pay, gave them their food and pulled away! Double cheeseburger- it was okay but half the bun was soggy on the bottom. Not sure what was up with that? Tots- super good, crispy.. but luke warm! Not hot.. try them with honey mustard! So good! 2 Corn dogs- I absolutely love their corn dogs and have ordered them before.. The sad part is, this is what I ordered to eat, and had to throw them away! I will post a picture! They burned them SO bad, and I don't understand how they thought it would be okay to put into a bag! No, I did not pull them open, they were burned that way!! I am STILL upset about it! Every time I'm in Stockton, I gotta stop by Sonics. I think it's the tater tots & shakes/drinks that get me. I've only been to 2 different Sonics and this one is the better one, but not by much. Sonics has a great variety of food: burgers, hot dogs, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, fries, tater tots, etc. Any fast food junkie will find something they like here. The vast variety of shakes is what really sets them apart from other places. It seems like they have endless possibilities and at times their shakes menu outshines their actual food menu. This particular location is just meh. Sometimes it takes forever to just order thru the menu board at the outdoor patio area. They have two places to order, but usually only one works. However, I feel like the food comes out pretty timely. The food is pretty standard to any fast food restaurant. I mean it's not fine dining, so I can't say it's the best. But it definitely hits the spot when craving fast food. The service is hit & miss, sometimes the workers are great & nice, other times they are rude. It's mostly drive-in restaurant, but they do have tables for eating outside (pre COVID). But I remember the outside seating being very dirty. Same with the bathrooms. Lastly the prices are fair...I could end up spending $15 just for myself...but it would be more than enough food. Or I believe you can opt for pickup and you park and walk to the door and outside seating area to pick it up. I believe most or all Sonics don't have any indoor areas/seating. And of course they have a drive thru and you can order on the board from your car in a stall. A staff member brought us our food. I think they used to be on roller skates but they just walked over now. I had a quarter pound double cheeseburger, cheese tots and a strawberry limeade. My husband had the cheeseburger combo and added a chilli cheese coney. He also got regular tots as his side with a coke. My favorites to get at Sonic are the tots and the limeades. Their sandwiches and burgers are just ok. This was my first time having the cheese tots. For some reason, I thought it was cheese filled tots. But they had just melted some cheese over the top of some tots. While tasty, I don't need it. I think regular tots would do just as well. But we were filled up. All of this food with some discounts for $15. That's amazing considering fast food is getting so pricey now. If you have an online account or the app, there's always discounts and special offers so I suggest getting it. read more

They seriously need to iron out their whole process. Drive through on Monday 6/20/2022 took almost an hour from when I entered the drive through to when we received our order. Food was fine but the lines were crazy and how they manage the lines and get the orders to their customers need some reworking. Do not recommend coming here until they work out all the details unless you like waiting in line and using an hours worth of gas and moving 100 yards in an hour. Finally stopped here, but just for a shake. There were lots of cars parked and lots in the drive-thru lane. And there were rollerskating wait staff going to and from the cars taking care of their customers. Upon walking up to the menu board, I learned why all the cars were here. I found out that after 9pm, everything was half off! There's no indoor seating...but there are a couple outside tables. Most people eat in their vehicle. Favorite fast food chain restaurant hands down. Large selection of munchies and treats. This is the place you go to late at night when a microwave burrito or top ramen is not gonna hold you over and you're too lazy to cook or eat healthy. The chicken sandwiches are surprisingly good, tater tots are crunchy and warm and the frozen fruit limeades are the best! They're always busy but service is fast enough and they usually get your order right but with so many items on the menu that is to be expected. Very disappointed in their "medium" chili cheese fries which I paid $3.69 for! Looked like a good size tray and I pulled it out with it being not even halfway full and the fries were UNDERDONE!!! I eventually plan to order everything at least once. A worthwhile task, I know. There are some who care less about the hot food and are solely in it for the cold stuff. I can see that. For starters, they have Dr Pepper. Instant joy! Beyond that, all the fun is in the cold section. Personal favs are the chocolate malts and Cherry Limeades. I was driving down i5 and decided to stop at this Sonic for lunch last Sunday. We wee there a bit before noon. I've been to Sonics before but not this one. Oh what a disappointing experience. I'll start off with the positives. As we drove to the drive thru , there was a person that was washing down the outdoor tables. The outdoor dining area was clean and nicely shaded. The wait in the drive thru took about 12minutes to get 2 Chicago dogs and an order of tots . A young lady came out to take our payment before we got to the pickup window. That was odd. But as my husband reminded me that we are in Stockton. We didn't get our change until they handed us the food. Our orders weren't correct. The Chicago dog wasn't complete, they forgot the dill spear, peppers, and celery salt for both orders. So basically I got a regular dog but paid for a Chicago dog. It was nothing special, the quality of the meat and bread were just ok. The tots were great though, cooked to a golden crispy exterior...not oily. The 2 gals that helped us were sweethearts. This place just gets worse every time I come here. I really didn't want to come here again, but it's the only place nearby that offered a variety of shakes late at night. We went into several stalls one night and got no response or just a error/unavailable on the screen. If a stall isn't working, then put a sign saying so for people to know prior to parking. I ended up going through the drive thru and the wait was very long for how little cars there were. Paid for the drinks, got the receipt, and then received our drinks. If you like cookie dough milkshakes don't waste your money here. They put a tablespoon of cookie dough at the bottom of the cup and fill it up with vanilla runny ice cream. They don't blend it and even when you stir it up you rarely get a bite of cookie dough. Very rarely because the pieces of dough are tiny like rabbit food. The commercials definitely give a false impression of what to expect. I even took it back but they only confirmed that they put it at the bottom of the cup and the rest is supposed to be plain vanilla ice cream. Complete waste of six bucks. It's Friday night 6:30 and we couldn't get in a space due to the car show. Sooo drive through it is. Ordered: -one #1 Sonic Cheese Burger (ketchup only) fries and subbing a chocolate milk shake -one chili cheese dog (including fries) and subbing a strawberry shake -one #2 meal subbing a cheese cake milkshake. Totally almost $32 Twenty minutes later we are given our shakes & handed someone else's order. Thankfully I didn't leave before looking and gave it back after I looked through & touched the Twisted Pretzel. Five minutes later we are given the right order and I drive off to see the cool cars. Once parked we learn the Sonic cheese burger marked "Ketchup only" was not. It had everything on it. My daughter is willing to scrap it off. Then my son said his chili cheese dog tastes bad. I smell it and the hot dog smelled sour. Ok that's it! I return to Sonic asking for our order to be corrected, which they did. My daughters burger had ketchup only but my sons replacement corn dogs we not fully cooked & mushy inside! He ate my burger and I got to enjoy my milkshake in peace. I love their real fruit slushes! I usually get strawberry lime real fruit slush (you have to add in the "real fruit" or else you get syrup-based slushes). They're really amazing, but just not consistent. Sometime I'll get a really goon one with lots of strawberry chunks and sometimes I get one with hardly any flavor. And on a couple of occasions, they did not get my order correct. One time I ended up with a limeade AND a strawberry slush. But if you go for happy hour between 2-4pm everyday, all the drink and desserts are half off. Which means, a medium slush is like a dollar. Sweet deal! read more

I'm not a big fan of Sonic's, but I drive past this place every time I drive back and forth between San Jose and Sacramento. It's a convenient place to grab some food and take a pit stop. I get hungry, so I take the Eight Mile Road exit on I5 to get some food. The food here is good, but I love their tater tots & the slushies are yummy! I believe there's happy hour -- half off slushies from 2 to 5pm, but I'm not sure if that's still happening. The workers roller skates the food over to your car, so that's something different and cool :) You can sit in your car to eat, but they have a few seats available outside too. read more
