Of course I was not expecting much, however I had a party of 6 and we were in a stall. The person taking my order was absolutely Obnoxious. I felt rushed and when he read our order back to us, he was like is this ketchup or did I cut my finger and his tone was like he was annoyed. If you don't like your job, get a different one . We spent over 50.00 and the fries were cold, soggy and halfway filled, if I up grade and pay for the up grade I think I should get what I paid for.. Visited a few times. Each time was slightly disappointing. To what seemed like microwaved hot dogs with dry hardened buns to milkshakes that weren't mixed properly. Almost every menu item that I've tried was a disappointment. The lines are usually longer than the DMV. And just as slow too. The only possible saving grace is the tots. read more

Without fail, EVERY SINGLE TIME we have come here, it takes 30 minutes to get anything!!! Literally anything! Sonic blast? 30+ minutes. Meal? 30+. Half the menu? Good luck! Don't be deceived by the 10 employees milling around inside; it will never help. Whether its two cars in line or 20, hopefully you don't show up hungry or in a hurry. For whatever reason, this problem only exists at this location. The one near Poulsbo or in other states are fine. One thing I can say is every employee is really polite and tells us their name right away....so courtesies are not where improvement is needed. read more

Basically I have cancer in my throat and it's hard to hear me at times. The drive threw sensors weren't working so I could not place my order. It was after hours so you couldn't dine in. It was raining and I had to get out the car to buzz them but they couldn't answer, so I sat in the line for 20 min. When I explained to Justin what happened he gave us our meal free. Went with my daughter. They were out of lettuce and other things. Parking lot was almost empty. The beef patty tasted old, or well aged. The flavor of the meat was so off, she couldn't finish. I worried about getting sick after the meal, but didn't. Will never go there again under these owners, or managers. Will not recommend. I got the Chicago dog. While it had lots of stuff, the dog was about as big around as my pinky. Like smaller around than a Bar S dog for .99 for 8. The dog was so small that all those great toppings meant nothing because I could not even, in a single bite, taste them with the flavor of a hot dog. Coupled with the fact that we had to endure Radar Love while we waited in the extremely slow drive thru makes for someone who will never return. Beef up your dogs yo. They should be the star of the show. Hook us up with a 4 to one at least! And no more Radar Love...no one wants that! read more

This is my first time coming to this sonic, and I was pleasantly surprised over the customer service. The reason I gave this 1 star is because first impressions are a lot for me. I have ate across the country at different Sonics probably about 8-10 different states and this is the worst food ever. I ordderrs a. Breakfast burrito with tater tots #14 on the menu. I also upgraded my drink to a large add extra ice. My drink came first and it tasted just perfect. I then waited about 2-3 min for my food anticipating it to be fresh and warm. I was given my food in a normal bag and drove off. About a mile down the road I went to grab a tater tot and they were cold. So cold as if they had not been under a heat lamp even. I think they didnt want to make fresh one at this point I couldn't even eat them. So i open my burrito and try to take a bite, it feels warm to the touch, but when Ibite into it its very luke warm and wrapped terrible. I usually pull extra tortilla shell off just bc there is so much I did just that and noticed when I did that my cheese isn't melted, my eggs are crunchy like scraped off the grill crunchy. It too is also luke warm. I cant believe this and I didnt get a chance to go right back due to an appt I had to get to. At this point I am frustrated and I will not go back to this sonic. read more

What can I say about Sonic? If you've visited one, you're familiar with the menu. These and Dairy Queens are all over Texas so yeah, I'm well acquainted with Sonic. I've been to this location for a couple of times when in Tacoma and the fare was as I remembered. Both times I went with bacon chili dog on a pretzel bun, small tots, and a cherry limeade. The food was exactly as I remembered it. My friend ordered a bacon Cheeseburger TOASTER, cheese-covered tots, and a strawberry cheesecake shake. Total health food, I know. You don't come here for good choices, right? The employees were friendly enough but service was slow. read more

Meh is right. I can't remember the last time I went here and had no issues. How hard is it to listen to what a customer is saying and type it into a computer? How hard is it for a cook to look at a ticket or the order screen and read ADD ONION and ADD MUSTARD? Coneys without onions are not the same. Sure it's food but I don't like it that way. Ordered SPICY Popcorn chicken at the same time. The ticket just said "Popcorn Chicken." The spicy chicken was being promoted. I said we wanted spicy. On other visits we got burgers that were cold. We stopped ordering them. Trying to find something they don't screw up. We really like the drinks but 44 ounce slushies alone don't make a meal. I've been to Sonics in other states and have had awesome food. I don't know what it is about Tacoma that makes employees not give a crap about quality or service. I know minimum wage is only $9 and change but what gives? I made $3.35 per hour at my first job at a burger place and I took pride in my work. I worked in food service for ten years and I NEVER put out a meal that I wouldn't eat myself. Sadly, quality food and service is a thing of the past. read more

I love Sonic. I feel when reviewing chains I should be reviewing the location itself, not the chain. That being said, this Sonic has been a HUGE disappointment. I was thrilled to see a Sonic open in Tacoma. I loved Sonic when I lived in AZ. I've now been to this Sonic 3 or 4 times and each time I've been disappointed. The last time I was there I got a BLT. Well, really, I got a BL. That's right, on a BLT they forgot the tomato. Funny thing is, the other person in the car with me got a BL too....really they forgot the tomato on 2 sandwiches!?! How do you make a BLT and forget one of the letters!?!?! The best part was we buzzed them to ask them to bring us some tomatoes and it must have taken them 5 minutes to bring them out. By that time my sandwich was cold. Major bummer. The time before that I got cold tater tots. Clearly we all know their frozen and not made fresh, but it's a shame when I bite into one and am clearly reminded of that. The staff here is not so attentive and one time forgot what car they were going to. If they were busy, I'd understand, but I think there were 3 other cars in the entire place. I really wish this Sonic performed better since I'd eat there way more often. I hope they get the message and start improving soon. And I hope they hire staff that can remember what goes on a BLT! read more

I went to this Sonic location today, the 1st day masks are required in all public businesses, employees and customers. I went through the drive-thru foa a drink and the woman who took my money and made my milkshake wore her mask around her neck the entire time. I was wearing mine in my car while the window was down, but she never put hers in place. Won't be going back here. read more

Its fast food, so I think anything more than 3 stars is a bit much. But I do love sonic, the burgers are good, they have sweet potato tots, which i love, and they have chilli-dogs, awesome!!! My fave is all the drinks, between the soda, the limeade, the shakes and the blends of anything you want, its frickin awesome! (If only I could add vodka to some of their fantastic mixes!) The only disappointment, we came here with the little one to show off the whole roller skate part, and they weren't rocking the skates, BUMMER. read more

I used to love Sonic for their innovative menu with tons of combinations. Then, they took away some of their staples, like a chocolate peanut butter malt and cheese curds, and it was kind of disappointing. They still have a fun concept of either drive thru or drive up and they bring the order to you on skates. Pretty good food for fast food. I recommend trying a cherry limeade and tots. read more

To be honest, I was a little disappointed in my Sonic experience. I have only been to one before and wanted to see if it was worth the hype. From the moment I drove up I had good expectations. I placed my order off the menu board and got a burger, fries and a drink. Nothing special but it was more about the experience. The carhop brings me my order in a bag as if it was a drive-thru. I asked "don't you bring it on a tray that sits on the window?" and her reply was "only if you ask for it.". Kinda defeated the whole purpose in my opinion. The burger was good but drippy. Great location, great food and great service! My boyfriend and myself came here for a late night slushy run! Typically when it's late some places have slim to no staff available for people like us. However, this was not one of the places. Even with a line of cars and a social event across the way the wait wasn't long at all! Everyone was super friendly! They made sure, since they had a long line, to have an employee working the outside of the line as well as the cashier! Which made this a very short stop! read more

This is always the slowest and most disappointing sonic I've ever tried. I just sat in the drive thru for half an hour waiting for food that came out wrong!!! Not only that, but the kitchen was DISGUSTING. I looked through the window and was tempted to tell them to keep my order. There was garbage everywhere, and a layer of mud on the floor so thick that I could see tracks from the kids skates. The first Sonic I've had in 8 years and what a complete disappointment,the burger was cold and looked as if someone had taken a bite out of the patty, I ordered a bacon ranch hotdog and got a bacon chili dog instead, and the onion rings that cost 80 cents more to my combo meal were burnt and like rocks. Very disappointed. First, they are very "proud" of their food. Their food is terribly over priced for what it is. It took the operator almost five minutes after I pressed the button before we were even helped. When the food cane, the fries were HORRIBLE. They were cold and soggy. I ended up throwing them away after I couldn't find anyone to bring it to their attention. The burger was also dry and flavorless. My kids ordered kids meals which did not come with the toy advertised. Hey - it's burgers! Not much more to say... I had the bacon cheeseburger, but they mistakenly gave me the double - WAY too much fried burger for my taste. They're fried, not flame broiled - and decent, in the way McDonalds is decent. Tastes very much like a mass-produced burger. When ordering from the covered "drive in and eat in the car" area it's VERY hard for everyone to see the menu - small print makes it hard to see. Fries were good. I like this Sonic, but there are a few things they need to get straightened out. If you look at the picture I have included, you'll see there's a delicious BBLT (Bacon bacon lettuce tomato) sandwich and tots combo for $3.98. What a deal, right? Well when I couldn't find the deal on their app, I pressed the ref button and asked. Usually the wait for a response is minutes, tonight I was pleasantly surprised when they responded right away, but only to say that that combo deal was only a promotion for a short time. TWO MONTHS AGO!!! She said the picture is stuck on the screen! I'm adding the exclamation marks to indicate my disbelieve and confusion how an image from a promo two months ago could still be on their screen. If you've never been to Sonic, I should tell you the screens are usually a live slideshow of specials and information about them. This screen at this stall I parked in (20), was not rotating through images like a slideshow. It just had the BBLT combo that I wanted on it. How crazy is that? I've parked in other stalls there too that also have non-functioning screens. Sometimes they are just black/blank. You think they would want to get them fixed. Anyway, enough about the screens. Let's talk about the food. I LOVE CORN DOGS and Sonic has never disappointed me, but tonight I felt like having a burger instead ( like the BBLT that was not available). So I ordered a crisp chicken burger and tots. I wanted to order the onion rings but they never have those because onion ring making machine was broken. IT'S BEEN BROKEN FOR MONTHS!!! I hear the same story every time that the part is on order. Yeah right! Back to the chicken burger. The chicken patty was overcooked and tough. It's supposed to be crisp, not rubbery. The tots were good. They always are. I'll be back, and probably even try the crispy chicken burger again, but I'll probably get a corn dog the next time. I'll start off with saying that Sonic is a really cool concept and what they offer is very expansive. But MAN, their products DO NOT look like those 2 buffoon's food in the commercials. The food is tasty...at times... and leaves you indisposed in the restroom for awhile after eating it. Anything ice cream related is hard to digest, even for the lactose-tolerant! The only saving grace is the low prices of Happy Hour and the fantastic drink menu. After long workout, or day in the sun, a 44oz powerade is ideal. I wouldn't recommend this place for the food or a first date, unless you want the powerade thrown in your face. read more
