My family and I chose this restaurant over all the steakhouses in Little Rock to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday. We've dined here for birthdays in the past, so we expected another great experience. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We had a party of 14 (11 adults and 3 children). I arrived at 5:30 PM, ahead of our 6:00 PM reservation. The birthday guest arrived shortly after at 6:10 PM. Initially, we were greeted and served water while waiting for the rest of the party, which was appreciated. However, once everyone arrived, the service quickly declined. Despite having two waitresses assigned to our table, it took 10 minutes to receive just two alcoholic beverages. Our appetizer order was taken at the same time, yet it took 20 minutes for them to arrive--and when they did, the crab cakes and cheese dip were barely warm. The spinach dip was brought out without chips, which we then had to request, adding another five minutes of waiting. After placing our entrée orders, we waited over 40 minutes for our food. While the steaks and salmon were hot, all of the sides were lukewarm at best. My sister-in-law sent her plate back due to the temperature, but when it was returned, nothing had improved. Throughout the meal, the waitstaff checked on us only about every 20 minutes, which was unacceptable for a party of our size. To make matters worse, I was informed of a $20 cake service fee. This was never mentioned beforehand, despite my clearly stating that this was a birthday celebration. When I questioned it, I was told it was in the contract--but after reviewing it myself, I found no such mention. I then requested to speak with a manager and had to ask three separate times before one finally came over. When she did, she spoke over me, offered no real explanation of the fee, and simply said, "I've taken it off," dismissing my concerns rather than addressing them. At the end of the evening, it took an additional 15 minutes just to receive our checks. Overall, the experience was horrible, staff was inattentive, and disappointing. It seemed as though the guaranteed $200 or more gratuity for a large party led to a noticeable decline in service quality. Gratuity should reflect excellent service--not excuse poor performance. This was not the experience we expected, especially for such an important occasion. I hope you take this feedback seriously and use it as an opportunity to improve both service standards and communication with your guests. read more

Had dinner there 5/4/26 for our 30th wedding anniversary. I remember when this was a premier restaurant in Little Rock. The hostess was in gym shorts and sloppy shirt. Salads were great and my wife really enjoyed her filet. I had the Ribeye. It was grissley (spelling) and tough. For the money spent, there are many better steak houses in Little Rock. The crab cakes were good, the spinach dip was bland and not good at all. I have been wanting to try the Butcher Shop for years - I've always heard it was a LR dining icon. So when the nephew said he wanted a good steak for his graduation meal, I was excited to make a reservation. Then I started reading reviews and got nervous. So many people complaining it had gone downhill, it wasn't like it used to be... It is worth remembering people are far more likely to leave a review when they have a negative experience. Because our group of five had an amazing evening. The evening started when we walked in and there were no issues with the reservation I'd made months earlier online. Our table was ready and we were seated immediately at 7:30 on a Friday night. We started with chips and cheese dip and salsa. Excellent flavor and a great shareable. Half the table had salad before and half had soup - both were very pleased. The rolls were fresh out of the oven and we had to remind ourselves the main course was still coming. All five people ordered a different cut of steak and each was cooked - and rested - perfectly. Every bite was delicious. Exactly what you think of when you think of a great steak. Aged beautifully and my rib eye was fork tender. Melted in the mouth. We finished it off by sharing three desserts - the death by chocolate cheesecake, the bread pudding, and the apple pie skillet. The 13 year old at the table inhaled the cheesecake in three bites, so I'm going to assume it was as awesome as the other two desserts. We were there 90 minutes, talking and laughing and sharing stories. My name is Sterlin Woodard and I had a horrible experience at the Butcher Shop on Saturday October 5, 2024. My family and I traveled from Florida and Texas to attend a special event for my daughter that Saturday. Our daughter planned the event for over 6 months and spent a considerable amount of time and resources to ensure that the event was a success. It was. We had planned to celebrate the success of the event by making reservations for our immediate family members at the Butcher Shop Steakhouse in Little Rock Arkansas. The reservation was for a party of 14 at 7 pm. We arrived on time and were seated promptly and met by a waitress who was courteous and friendly. While it took about an hour to receive our entrees, we shared several appetizers, and didn't mind the delay because we were enjoying the family conversation. Eight (8) of our party ordered the 12 oz ribeye steak dinner, including myself, my wife, daughter, and her boyfriend. The other family members ordered either the porterhouse steak dinner or a seafood dish. While my steak was properly cooked, it was ordinary and didn't quite measure up to the $35 cost. My wife commented that her steak was simply ok. However, one family member who ordered the ribeye steak dinner immediately commented that something was wrong with her steak causing her to immediately become nauseous. So, she didn't finish the steak. The family member informed the waitress of the problem, but declined another steak. We finished our meal and left the restaurant right after 9 pm as it closed. However, by the time we arrived back at my daughter's apartment, she had become extremely nauseous. She had a severe case of diahreah and spent the rest of the night vomiting. Her boyfriend called later that night and informed us that he had become extremely sick and nauseated. He said he had to pull over several times on his way home due to diahreah and vomiting. In addition, another family member who had ordered the ribeye steak dinner informed us that she had similar symptoms. The Butcher Shop is closed on Sundays and didn't re-open until the following Monday at 5 pm. So, I called the restaurant around 5:40 pm, and asked for a manager to complain about the service. I was directed to a manager named Maria who promised that she would look into the cause and call me back after informing the owners of the results of her investigation. After not hearing from Maria the next day, I called the restaurant and asked for Maria. I waited on hold for almost 20 minutes and was told that Maria was extremely busy bartending, but I could speak with the manager for the night Terry Deese. I reiterated to Terry my concerned about some type of food e-coli contamination and Maria's lack of follow-up and refusal to speak with me. Terry promised that he would speak with Maria and the store owners and call me back that evening. To this date, no one ever has. My family of 14 spent over $800 at the Butcher Shop and was extremely disappointed with, not only the quality of the food, but the horrible customer service after informing management that there may be a serious health issue at their restaurant. Based upon my experience, it appears that no one at the restaurant really cares about its customers. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone and suggest that you avoid them at all costs. My opinion is the Butcher Shop is an overrated, high priced, low class restaurant. read more

The "au poive" sauce had 1peppercorn, literally, on each of our plates. The only decent steak at our table was the 20oz. King Cut Prime Rib. The service was ok, but only satisfactory. Definitely not worth the price here in Little Rock. One big problem is the wine list. We ordered an inexpensive, Pinot noir and it was $40 and barely drinkable. I know not to expect much from a $40 bottle of wine, but this was really bad. There's no reason to have such a tiny list and not offer even one bottle below $80 that is good. We were a party of 7 friends on 2/15. My friend and I split the calamari for an appetizer. The first surprise was how little we got for $17. I'm no cheap skate, but it was clearly an appetizer for one person, not two. It was clearly half leftover dry pieces that were fried much earlier, and half fresh fried pieces. You could tell visually and by taste. I cannot believe a chef would put this out. The waiter should have refused this. The old pieces were not good. The fresh hot pieces were rubbery. We were with a group and didn't want to seem rude, so we ate it and mentioned nothing. The cut of medium rare prime rib I had was very good. The only thing that could have improved was the exterior rub. There could have been more flavor in the outside rub. Still, I would order that again, as the flavor and texture of the grade of beef was good, and I enjoyed it with the creamy horseradish. We ordered dessert, and everyone else received theirs. I figured mine would come, but then the checks came out. The waiter apologized and tried to take my check to put the order in for the dessert. I told him I didn't want it anymore. Overall, my experience was a three star experience. The prime rib brought this up from what would have been probably close to a 1 star experience, which almost never happens to me. I was blown away by the hospitality and service I had at this establishment! I sat at the bar and both bartenders were on point with my bourbon pours. They both spent time taking to me with interest not just surface and could not have been more attentive with their service. That option still appears to exist, but not a single person used it when I was there this weekend. That was part of the charm of this place. Cook your own (or) pay a small surcharge for them to cook. That language is now off the menu. I miss that time. But, my steak was fine. ( a bit undercooked and over peppered) and the sides are generous. We had to send one back for more cooking because it was too rare but they got it just right the second try. But the rest of the food was poorly done. The salads are not edible. Just cold chunky pieces of tough lettuce and drenched in dressing. I ordered a caesar salad with shrimp as my entree. Caesar salad is ROMAINE lettuce. Always. But this was green leaf lettuce and it was mushy and gross, drenched in dressing with about 30 croutons. Dessert too was a disappointment. We ordered creme brulee. It came HOT. First mistake. I left a review on google, that somehow disappeared when searching for it. Hopefully, the same does not happen here: I was a huge fan of their chicken Alfredo pasta and their service. After a recent pick up order, I will not be going back. Their prices have increased drastically and the quality of their food has diminished. While I write this review, I am still on hold (25 mins and counting) waiting for someone to return about a $6 Caesar salad that was literally a handful of lettuce and nothing else. It's supposed to come with Parmesan cheese, capers, shredded/dried egg, and croutons. The dressing is chunky and does not move in the container. Think of spoiled cottage cheese. The chicken in my pasta was chewy and unseasoned, expect for the burnt pieces, and the sauce was lacking its usual flavorful notes. Needless to say, this was a more than underwhelming experience, with a hefty price tag attached, and I'm still on hold. They also did not give us the rolls and butter that are supposed to come with each order. read more

Yummy!! I have celiac disease and our waiter listened and got the orders perfect! No croutons on the salad rolls are served in a basket rather than on the side (I didn't know that at the time of ordering) and the fries were amazing I ordered the sirloin.
