This place is a jackpot. As soon as you walk in the door, the wonderful scent of baked goods hits you. Everything is freshly baked, you can see the glistening on everything. The chocolate in the babka and rugelach is amazing. It's so smooth and honestly one of the best brand of chocolate I ever tasted from a bakery. I already tasted everything and I'm so impressed! My husband was passing one day and stopped in and got a cinnamon roll and he saved a piece for me to taste how delicious it was. So here is the story. I have been going here for years. Never had an issue. Always seemed like a nice place with nice owner. I live across the street so I go pretty often here. Today my sister bough a Challah and when she got home and opened it up for shabbat it had a piece of hair in it. Since my sister lives far away I took a picture and went back to the bakery with the receipt and a photo. The owners mom was beyond rude and spoke very disrespectful. She said where is the challah, I told her it was with my sister in Lauderdale. She said well here is your $8 back you are not welcome here anymore. I have owned many restaurants in my life. If I ever spoke to a customer this way they would have thrown tomatoes at my windows.If you want kosher bakery go to Kosher Kingdom or Sarahs Tent. They are a lot more polite then them! NEVER TRUST THIS BUSINESS!!! ‼ . I ordered special order, ceremonial challahs for my son's Bar Mitzvah and THEY DID NOT FUFILL THE ORDER. Being that the date would be just before Pesach I brought it to the owners daughter attention, and she said it would be no problem. She said they would be open through that Friday before. She insisted I pay in advance and we set a pick up time and date. I put it in my calendar and checked it off my list of important things prior to the Mitzvah. I called a few days before just to confirm and I did not get an answer, I called several more times left voicemails and even drove 45 minutes to the bakery only to discover that it was closed with no notice and no one had called to let me know they would not be making my order. I met up with several unhappy customers at the door who said this has happened to them before and they will stop doing business with this bakery. I simply cannot understand why they did not make a simple phone call to let me know. Apparently they decided to close a week earlier than planned and just closed.. without any concern for my orders placed three weeks earlier. Either they do not keep good records or they don't care, either way it is no way to run a business. It was simply horrible to be left in the dark and have to scramble to find somewhere else to get multiple ceremonial challahs in a days notice one day before the Shabbat prior to Passover. I never received a phone call, responding to my multitude of messages or the note I left in their door, when I called them back AFTER THE BAR MITZVAH and Passover, they left me on hold as if they didn't know who I was and had to look up my order. Could not have cared less that they left me high and dry for one of the most important days in my family's life. Apparently they decided to take an additional week of vacation without concern for any outstanding orders. When I asked for a refund, they told me I had to drive to the store physically which is nearly an hour from my house , when I went there again, she seemed very insincere and just said "oh sorry accidents happen. No one's perfect." I own a small business myself, and if I ever made an error that caused someone so much angst, I would certainly have been more apologetic and sincere. I will take it up with my credit card company and if I can save someone else the trouble of expecting this place to follow through on what they say they will do than this review will have been worth my time. read more

Went there today to pick up pastries, while at the store I saw a baker (don't know the name but wore a blue shirt and had black hair) was not wearing a mask and gloves. This baker kept on shuffling from the back (where the pastries are located) to the front with customers, still without a mask. This is the best kosher Bakery ever! The challah is absolutely delicious sweet and moist. The baked goods, rugelach , bobka are amazing! We got souvganiot for Hannukah yesterday and were back for more today. They have jelly, dulce de leche, chocolate. We tried the jelly and dulce deleche. The jelly was spilling out of the doughnut. A long time ago, when I lived in this area I knew of all the great kosher places. As I moved further North, and it off touch to a while. I spent too much time chatting with old friends in the area, and found myself in a bit of a bakery emergency- I had been in my way to a family gathering and wanted to be polite and bring dessert. Without any hesitation Sonny's was recommended, with an aside that if I brought the chocolate bobka I'd be considered a hero. As I didn't have much time, I hurried over. When I arrived, I first walked into the chocolate store next door by accident. Through the correct unassuming doorway into a bakery previously described as "no frills, " the sweet irresistible scent of fresh baked goods flourishes. This is no French bakery full of pomp, circumstance, and 4 dollar macaroons (though I do love macaroons!!) this is the real deal for authentic kosher rugelach, challah, rolls, etc... And of course the chocolate bobka. The baker greeted me immediately and assisted me with my purchase. He was especially nice and welcoming. My favorite part of this adventure was eating the rolls I bought (couldn't help myself) on the way to the gathering. They were amazing! read more

I've lived in this area for quite a while, and I've never heard of this place until recently, so I thought I would go check it out, and wow, I wish I knew about this bakery sooner! They have essential baked goods, such as rugelach, challah bread, and best of all croissants (I'm not 100% sure these are kosher, but they are darn good!). Their rugelach is very chocolate-y without it being overwhelming sweet, and they sell these miniature ones in a box (I think there are 14 of them) for around $7, which is pretty reasonable. Don't let their small size fool you: they're absolutely delicious and very fresh! They are flaky and delectable on the outside while also being soft and packed with chocolate on the inside. Their challah bread is very delicious as well: it is slightly sweet, but also fluffy, aromatic, and almost cloud like. Overall, it's a fantastic bakery (though it is a little pricey) and I would highly recommend! read more

Ahh, heaven! As I type this, I am lounging in my stretchy pants because I am full of rugelach. The chocolate rugelach is swirled with bittersweet chocolate and glazed with syrup. Sticky and crisp. It is divine. Chocolate croissants use similar flaky pastry as the rugelach. These are big croissants stuffed with more bittersweet chocolate gold. Mine was a little underdone in the middle. However, by Miami standards, it is an excellent pastry and folks in and around my Aventura neighborhood rave about them. Now the challah: I've been eating it unadorned- so good without anything! Pillow soft, toothsome, sweetly glazed. I had both sesame and whole wheat. I have decided that I want my final resting place to be inside of this bread. Please, save on the cremation costs and just bake me into a gigantic loaf of this bread. If they bar me from heaven for the sin of gluttony, that's ok. I'll be buried in Sonny's challah, which has got to be a close second. Notes: they close by 3 PM on Friday to observe Shabbat, and they re-open on Monday. This is purely a bakery-- no tables, coffee service, or bathrooms. I went on a Tuesday morning and the selection was limited. I spotted the babka dough in their workroom. The gentleman working their (I presume this was Sonny) informed me that it is available Wednesday. They also sell Sonny's bakery nearby at La Fruteria. This is an excellent bakery. read more
