I went here with my mom a few days ago. We came in I ordered some ribs with Mac and cheese and corn on cob. The fork I received wasn't clean so me and mom had to ask for plastic forks. And the waitress I had want too good. She assisted my mom with finding something on the menu and while she was holding it up she was kinda smacking my face with it. I even looked her to kind of give her the look like ummm I'm right here. But she looked at me and continued to like have the menu in my face she didn't even apologize for it. I thought that was kind of rude. The ribs were AMAZING!! They were the only thing that was good the Cornbread was cold. Mac and cheese tasted like Kraft Mac n cheese I can cook in microwave by myself in 2mins . I would come back here only for the ribs!! This place is not anything extraordinary. It's right next to Great Wolf lodge, so we thought we'd give it a try. Service was mediocre and food average. We came for the first time at 7:00 on a Saturday night. They were out of their Sonny's Amber draft, then ran out of the draft Shocktop. They were out of Mac and cheese and baked beans. Really, on a Saturday night? The restaurant was about 2/3rds full. I ordered the all you can eat ribs for $15.99. Great deal, right? 15 minutes later, I got 4 ribs. This is my family's go-to BBQ spot. The portions are always plentiful with always loaded sandwichs of smoked turkey, pork etc... I recommend the "Egg Rolls" as they are huge, juicy and flavorful. They also serve tasty hotdogs for the kids, so I'd say this place is a safe bet for kids. I can't speak for the the dine-in experience due to always using their drive-thru option, BUT don't expect fast food speed of service as this place isn't that and it does take a moment to get your order(s) together , but it's SO worth the wait. read more

Came here on a Saturday. Service was decent but not very good at handling our complaints. We ordered two entrees, 1 turkey dinner and 1 beef brisket dinner. The turkey came out mildly warm with a pretty decent amount of meat. The brisket however, came with fairly cold, and with the meat amount for a 5 year old. I do not enjoy paying $13.99 for 5, 5-inch prices of brisket. When this was brought up to our waitress, she just said, "Well you ordered the dinner, that's what you get." Not very helpful at all. Been to this place many times as it is a favorite of my wife and kids. Although this may not be award winning barbecue it is still respectable and the all you can eat portion fits even the largest of bellies full of what ever item you like unless you like ribs or brisket. Four sauces to choose from to keep the flavor changing and plowing throw the tiny plates of meat refills. You can really give the waitress a workout as you reorder plate after plate of approximately 2 ounce portions of meat. Sure they have small lunch portions and the not all you can eat portions but where is the fun in that. For some reason they brought out two sides as a sort of garnish for the true meal....the meat. Bread was pillowy soft and buttered, meat was flavorful and onions rings and Mac and cheese made this sandwich very good by itself. The fries are run of the mill crinkle cut, I didn't like some of their sauces but the sizzlin sweet is hard to stop eating. I had a bad feeling when I saw the salad bar. To me, a salad bar usually means it's targeted to seniors: people who choose where to eat based on everything except the taste of the food. I ordered the pulled pork platter w/ mac n cheese, slaw and garlic bread. The mac n cheese was good, not great. Same with the slaw. The pulled pork was average. It definitely needs some sauce. I do like Sonny's' sauces, especially the Sizzling Sweet. Now, the garlic bread, to me, is still the star of the dish. Take that for what it's worth. read more

My husband and I decided to eat some lunch at Sonny's in Concord. That was a big mistake! We asked the waitress what was on the $5.99 lunch special plate and she said you get two pieces of chicken, white or dark, french fries, slaw and garlic bread. She or you can have any meat of your choice. We chose the white meat chicken. When our meal came there was a small wing and half of a chicken breast! You could see where the breast was cut in half. She tried to tell us that sometimes the pieces are small. I told her don't even go there. I know the difference from a small piece of chicken and one that has been cut in half. I have cooked chicken all my life and I know what I am talking about! They refused to make it good and we will never ever go there again because they are cheating the customers and we did not get what we paid for!!!! My favorite Bbq in Florida! A must try!!! Very filling portions. I don't eat pork,and love the beef BBQ! My husband loves the pork. The fried okra is definitely a southern favorite! I always get an order of beans as the sauce is amazing. You can use the various sauces to dial up the heat or sweetness of any dish as you prefer. All the sides are terrific. Well we get seated and there are 6 black young men sitting right behind us as loud as ever and one louder than all of them decides to yell this macaroni is so good I'm about to finger f**k it. My blood began to boil. Their waitress didn't ask them to quiet down or any thing. Then another family with smaller kids came in and I looked up at the boys and then one looks at me and says what you gone do? And kept repeating him self I ignored him. Again the waitress was near and never asked them to respect others around them. Then I hear the loudest one say " if they axe me what problem is I'll tell em i gots turrets" and kept repeating it. Unknowingly my son has turrets and he looked at me like he could flip out any time so I said it's time to go. I let the kids go to the car I asked to speak to the manager. She said sorry but acted as if she really didn't care how disrespectful, and disruptive these rude boys were. Noone in the restaurant had any peace. Then I had to explain to my son that kept asking mom why would they make jokes about something that people can't control. The only reply I could give him is you can't fix ignorance, or stupidity. I hope they get some management with a back bone in that place. Because I'm sure the cooks could hear that loud mouth boy and no one offered to say a word. My sister had issues with her ribs...I tried one bite and it was aweful, rancid. Tasted like it had been cooked the day before and left out overnight. The pulled pork and beef brisket sandwiches are great. Especially the beef brisket, it was very tender, juicy, and had a delicious flavor. Their sides are horrible. They taste just a tad bit better than cafeteria food. Yuck! Another issue with the food is the portion sizes. While the sandwiches were great, they hardly had any meat on them and for the price I expected a larger amount of meat. I had heard about the Redneck Eggrolls and we're very excited to try them. I was terribly disappointed. They were fresh I know because I could see the steam coming off of them, but they tasted awful. I also thought they were overpriced. (and I'm no cheap skate by any means) but for this type of restaurant I thought they were high, just like everything else. If the sandwiches would have had more meat, the prices would have been worth it. The girl at the drive-thru wasn't rude, but her customer service skills could use some polishing up on. Prices have gone up and the portions have gotten smaller, especially at the Concord location. I can get a great steak for the same price. R&R beats Sonny's in price, portion, and taste. Something is different about the Fries at Sonny's and they are NOT as good as their fries over the past 30 years. The food comes out warm to cold. i use to love Sonny's and I'd eat there a couple time s a month. Now it's months between visits and it's going to take longer this time. Don't waste your time or money the kitchen is kept in unsanitary conditions and the staff is extremely unprofessional and rude especially the management. I visited this location Aug 13, 2016, I called my order in and went to the drive through to pick it up, looking at all the trash on the floor I decided to bring it to the manger's (Justin) attention he asked me "why was I eating there" and said they would rather get the food out than stop to clean up. I then called on Aug 15 to speak to the general manager (Randy) who was unapologetic about Justin's behavior and defended the mess. So long story short they take short cuts on sanitation which will eventually lead to food born illness. I will never eat there again. read more
