we ordered the sampler through Uber eats and Sonny's was only a mile down the road. I'll give this 2 stars just because the ribs were nice and flavorful. Not exactly meaty or large, and just on the cusp of being cooked a little too much, but at least it had flavor. More than I can say for the chicken, thigh and leg that were dried out and the brisket, again no flavor. Pork, the same thing. And in fact it seemed all of these meats were cooked just to the edge of being overcooked. Mac and cheese was okay, nice and creamy, coleslaw was nothing to write home about, nor was the garlic bread. This pains me a little two rate two stars, but here's the deal. The service was really good. Food came out quickly and we loved our waitress. However, I'm there for the food....and it was subpar. Ordered brisket, fries, and a sweet tea. Brisket wasn't properly smoked and seemed to be baked more than prepared on a real smoker. I love sweet tea but this stuff was over-sweet. Had to mix it half and half with non sweet tea. I know it has a lot of history and I respect that, but they need to make better food in order to keep people coming back. Good luck! read more

I used to love this restaurant, it was my go-to place for a delicious meal. However, on my recent visit, I was disappointed to find out that they had switched their chicken fingers. I was excited to order my usual favorite, but the new chicken fingers just didn't meet my expectations. The texture was off and they lacked the flavor that I had come to love. This change has greatly affected my experience and I may have to reconsider going back in the future. You've lost a lot of customers because of this change. read more

The best BBQ in south Florida. The atmosphere of this place is great. It just about made me feel like I was in the Deep South. We had the greatest waitress! When coming here be sure to ask for Tracy as your waitress. She continued to go above and beyond for us. She was so pleasant to talk to and made our entire experience here well worth it. I could have gone to many other restaurants for similar food but the environment Tracey created an experience she left us with was second to none. The food was incredible. The barbecue sauce was to die for! The original and the sweet barbecue sauce were my favorites. The pulled pork was so good and the all you can eat chicken was amazing! I've been to Sonny's multiple times. Recently there menu has added a few items included the red neck egg rolls. I really like them. The sauce they come with is a little spicy, but it adds a nice kick to them. The restaurant had been renovated several months ago and they now have a bar area. The renovation was definitely needed to make it a more modern restaurant. The restaurant is big and has some seating options outside as well. The service was fast and efficient. My go to is the big deal pork sandwich. It's always a good choice and not very expensive. This time in Thursday's they had a baby back ribs special for the day so I tried the ribs. They were very good. Cooked just right, I wouldn't say fall off the bone but they were close. Everyday they have specials. Sonny's is definitely one of the better BBQ options in Miami if you don't mind making the drive. It has yet to disappoint. read more

After a long day of fishing in Islamorada (we didn't catch any keepers) we stopped here to have a bite to eat. The restaurant was social distancing and we were able to get a booth instantly. The waiter suggested a cold IPA to cool off which came freezing cold and tasted great!. I was starving so I placed an order immediately. I ordered the ribs & wings, which came with mac & cheese, corn bread and baked beans. The food didn't take long to get to the table which was another plus. The ribs were tender and sauced just right, the wings were naked. The table had four choices of bbq sauce to put on the wings and each had a distinctive flavor. The wings were seasoned well and cooked perfectly (not burnt or dry). The beans had pork pieces in them and a great flavor, the Mac & cheese was ok as well. The only disappointment was the cornbread muffin. The muffin was cold and to moist, but other than that it was a great experience. Another great thing is that they give 10% military discount . Did a call in to Sonny's today for my wife and I and my sons family who were visiting with their 3 children. We did the call in because the website showed down. Folks, will not complain about the quality of the food just the order itself This was a disgrace, the kids favorite, corn nuggets, were on all 3 of their orders. The takeout order, when we got home, showed no corn nuggets. The hotdogs were all in place ok. My daughter in law ordered. Cobb salad with no onions and bbq pork. It came full of onions, Now Sonny's will always make it good but that means another 20 minute trip each way. Since it was the kids, we had to do it. My son left his meal and travelled back and forth. So his dinner was also ruined, Sonny's French fries are not good cold. Basically what we got for $68.00, including a tip for good service ended up a meal wasted. Yummy! I love the new and remodeled Sonny's. They have great dinner specials that everyone should check out! The waiter we had was super friendly and helpful. Definitely, you don't see this type of service like this often! Props to her, ( I wish I'd remembered her name for a shoutout). This restaurant is very clean and cozy, if you are in the area I definitely recommend stopping by and giving it a try. Pulled pork and baked beans ftw! Pricing is just right, this is affordable bbq and super yummy -- I can't say that enough. They also have a drive-thru and you can order ahead for pickup. Had the baby back ribs , fries and corn on the cob; all the stNdard care you would expect high quality. Ribs were good but nothin special. It is just comfort food that it's filling but not great. Although the servers are very polite and the manager was very nice about it, this is been the third incident where my wife has gotten the pulled chicken platter at this restaurant and found a bone in it. We had actually saw a bone in the pile prior to her eating it but as she ate more yet another bone got wedged in between her teeth and she had to painfully pull it out. Like I said, the server was very nice and the manager was very apologetic but this was the THIRD TIME. What is it going to take for the people who pull the chicken off the bone to realize that they must insure there are NO BONES in the finished product to be served?! We usually go to Shivers but we wanted bbq and it was Easter Sunday! Shivers was closed :(. Since our neighbors had suggested Sonnys we decided to give it a try and drive a little further to satisfy the craving. To me Shivers is the best EVER. But my husband loooved Sonnys St. Louis ribs. He says they were meaty and the flavor of the dry rub was delicious. I really enjoyed their sides. The mac and cheeses, the egg rolls, and the corn nuggets were very tasty. My favorite part of the meal by far was the banana pudding. Thank you for staying open during these trying times and helping us bring our family together to have a semi normal Easter.
