We had a great meal at Sonny's BBQ! Hayden was an excellent server and made our visit even better. We weren't sure what kind of meat to get on our loaded tater tots, and Hayden recommended the brisket. It turned out to be the perfect choice and was a big hit with the whole family. During my visit, I observed a manager speak to an employee in a manner that was openly demeaning, belittling, and entirely inappropriate done in full view of customers. The tone and content of the interaction were unprofessional and unnecessary, and it created an uncomfortable environment not only for the employee, but for everyone present. Regardless of internal performance issues or operational pressures, there is no justification for humiliating an employee publicly. If coaching or correction is required, it should be handled privately and with basic professional respect. What I witnessed reflected poorly on your leadership standards and on your brand as a whole. As a customer, I found the situation disturbing enough that it materially affected my perception of your organization. No company that values its people or its reputation should tolerate this kind of behavior from anyone in a management role. and if that wasn't bad enough, I witnessed the same manager, just moments later speak to a customer walking in to place it to go order in such a condescending tone that if I was that person I would've left.? and that's actually what I did as I sat at the bar. I only had time to order a drink before I witnessed this situation so I asked to pay for my drink and I left there is no chance I would ever give this establishment my business. read more

Service is below zero! We ordered ST. L dinner and my husband asked if we add additional ribs how much she said $4. We have on sides bake mac n cheese, bake beans and fries, after 35mins, food arrived and she said the mac n cheese still baking and i asked here looks like no additional ribs on it and she said i will check the kitchen. And we almost done eating i asked here again follow up the additional ribs she said is almost ready. Then 1 server come to our table asked u need anything i told her we are waiting the the other addtl ribs and she said she will check. And few minutes our server come and she ask do u want additional ribs? I said what?? From the beginning we told u we want extra ribs our order and she looks confused and out fucos, and she ask again u want more meat? I was like omg! I told her we follow up or another order and the mac n cheese why till now didnt serve we already done eat the food serve but the other ordsr not yet. Then she said what do u want u want more plates of ribs i said im tired repeating, so i told her we are waiting the other food to serve bcoz we already finish the first dinner plate serve. Then she said so u want more plates of ribs, i said yes this is sooooo annoyed! Ok waiting again! Then few minutes i asked her if the mac n cheese not ready yet cancelled and the ribs then she said its ready now, i said ok bring it. We walked in hungry, and left disappointed, unsatisfied, and still hungry. I ordered their candied bacon burger, was told by the waitress that the patties are made fresh and would take a moment for the kitchen to prepare because they are made to order - pure lie. The bacon was cooked previously, and then heated up, the burger was soggy and cold it was not made to order. And the face of shock whenever the burger came out without the fried onions, sauce, and etc it was supposed to was a shock to the waitress. I had to flag her down to get any of the other ingredients that were supposed to be on the burger. Cons: Terrible service (never got an extra plate we asked for, we had to wait a lonnnng time for our check to pay or to go box), and this restaurant was not busy at all. This place was so bad I'm writing this review after nearly a month. The experience stuck with me. Ordered three meats: The burnt rib tips, I think, which was just scraps floating around in a sea of sugary sauce. The hickory chicken was OK. But the pork was so salty it was inedible, and that's saying something coming from me. The sides were absolutely tiny, which was OK because they were terrible. The slaw had no sauce, and the toast was barely more than a piece of bread briefly shown, partially, to the grill. The green beans were OK, but just canned, and overcooked. Lovely service with a knowledgeable and pleasant server. Food came out quickly and it was hot. Our party of four had different dishes. Our beef, pork and chicken were all delicious with an array of different complementary sauces. Garlic bread was good. Corn nuggets were new to me and I greatly enjoyed them. Everything with the service was great. Friendly staff, attentive, etc. Meat is just ok though. I had a sample plate and the chicken was dry and the ribs were small and a little overdone because they looked like the end pieces. Did have a happy hour drink menu that may be worth checking out but the BBQ would not be the motivating factor to return. read more

Now for the update of my last review on Sonny's BBQ in Perry, Georgia. This location got an overhaul in updates and a new layout inside of the restaurant looks like a whole lot better than before. The staff and management are great and understanding when there is an issue that needs to be fix they fix it and not make excuses about whatever the case maybe. The lunch and dinner entrees taste a lot better than before which is nice and same with the drinks. The updates...This location will now have a bar upfront with plenty of seating as well for you and your guest if you do decide to sit at the bar or near the bar. There is still separate restrooms for men and ladies to use. A+++ read more

We enjoy eating here and have been for over 15 years. Wait times are not too bad and always have a clean dinning room. Bathrooms aren't always clean or well stocked. Friendly staff and fast food to table. Always hot and flavorful. Parking is always packed but shows how good of food they have at the Perry Sonny's BBQ. Stopped here for lunch and didn't know what to expect from this place. Got out of my truck and it smelled amazing. 9/10 if you can't smell the barbecue from the parking lot it's not going to be good. I ordered the Pork Threeway which is sliced pork, pulled pork and ribs. I initially thought this was all going to pretty much taste the same. To my surprise all three were delicious and slightly different in flavor. The ribs and pulled pork had just a little bit of sauce to enhance their flavor but didn't mute the flavor of the meat itself. The sliced pork was just straight forward smoked pork and it was delicious. Now to talk about the sides. Most barbecue places have the default sides bbq beans, coleslaw and potato salad. None of which are usually anything special. This kind of annoys me. I'm primarily there for barbecue but if I'm going to have sides, I want GOOD sides. Sonny's has a pretty decent assortment along with the standards. I had their baked beans and a baked sweet potato. The sweet potato was good, it's a sweet potato though so kind of hard to screw that up. As for the baked beans I'm on the fence, I personally didn't like the flavor of them but my hat goes off to them for doing something different. Portions were great, for less than $20 I couldn't finish my meal. I am definitely coming back here next time I pass through this town. read more

Decent BBQ Poorly trained staff. Not a busy room, I sat at the bar and ordered right away, weirdly asked what side dish I wanted when I had ordered a sandwich and water only - then waited 20 minutes for a sandwich before being told my side wasn't ready. Ate my whole sandwich and still not ready, I then told them to pack it to go, and had time to use the rest room before my check came. Then - the staff I guess tried to be nice and say they didn't charge me for the combo, but I didn't order a combo!?! When you are from a big city, you don't see $2.00 beers! I know it's happy hour but that's like different country prices to those from New York or Las Vegas. The food is okay, I had the ribs the first time, and they were significantly char'd on top; 2nd time I came, they were delicious, so it's hit or miss. The hot links weren't tasty and extremely dry, but the mac and cheese and beans were fantastic. I didn't dine in, but I usually smash a beer down while my food is being prepared. The bar area never has someone in it, and I always have to ask for someone to get a drink from the bar *even though I say while I'm buying food, I WOULD LIKE A BEER AT THE BAR, PLEASE* The staff varies in age, but so far they are all friendly and nice--just absent-minded for some. Also, the 2nd time I came here, they let my food sit out in the packaging for a good couple of minutes, then the server came to me and said Did you want this now????? I ordered it to go so, of course, I want it as soon as possible. The food ordered through the drive thru is awful!I would strongly advise against ordering anything from Sonny's BBQ in Perry, GA. The last time I ordered through the drive-thru they totally screwed up my order (this was months ago). Today I only ordered a pulled chicken sandwich and a side of coleslaw. When I got home, my sandwich consisted of chunks of very dry chicken (one piece looked like half of a chicken breast!) on a bun and no BBQ sauce. I've had pulled chicken before and it didn't looked like this! I threw some cole slaw on the chicken trying to make it edible. I certainly was not prepared for the small bones that I encountered when I tried to chew the bites I had taken! Needless to say, it got tossed into the trash! I have learned my lesson!
