I always get the same thing at Sonny's BBQ. Salad bar with a side of sliced pork and garlic bread. One of these days going to get the ribs.

I'm from Texas traveling through and stopped for some BBQ. And us Texans are very judgemental on bbq but I have to say there wasn't one thing about the experience I had that was bad. Pricing was very affordable also we had a family of 16 eating here our waiter went out his way to move tables around so we can eat together. We ordered the family feast and we were able to feed 6 people out of it. But most important the BBQ was tasty. read more

I would not recommend this restaurant. The service was slow, very slow, and the attitude of the server was similar to a moody middle schooler. I only ordered two sides and it took over an hour to get my order. Me friend's order was cold and greasy by the time she got it. They were out of turkey. The baked potato side wasn't ready even after an hour and we were told that she didn't have any idea when it would be ready. No apology at all. read more

I hate to give this place only three, but I have to. I hate it because the staff were pretty cool, quick and attentive. They had super cheap giant pours of cold beer. The environment is nice and clean. The meat is decent, but you're not going to tell your friends that they should eat here. The sides are slightly better than average for a barbecue joint. The waiter was very attentive from The moment our group walked in The door. Menus, water appeared on the table. Food was delicious, there were no complaints at my table. This is a big lunch time stop for me. They always have a special running and the waitresses are quick and friendly. I am partial to the pulled chicken and the brisket but everything is done well. The best part is that I get a full meal with tax and tip and usually spend around $12. Parking lot has plenty live oaks to provide shade for your car on hot days. read more

A one star is not even deserved. The staff environment clearly reflected their service. I have never encountered such a rude waitress: she rolled her eyes at me as i ordered, and gave snappy comments correcting me for saying the side wrong ( texas toast vs garlic bread...???). Great atmosphere.. I had the sampler that covered all the meats. The chicken was a little on the dry side and under seasoned. The pulled pork was fine alone but would probably be better on a sandwich. The brisket was fine. The star of the plate was the ribs. Overall pretty good. I will definitely visit again. read more

After such a great experience here during a Yelp event, I was surprised by how poor the service and food were during follow-up visits. At the Yelp event, the manager demonstrated proper preparation of ribs and offered a great spread for all attendees, including a whole hog served up as some of the best pork sliders I've ever had. Staff were attentive and super friendly whenever asked. But, when I returned to see how the day-to-day meals go, I was sorely disappointed, on multiple occasions. The food was served cold, in small portions, and with the incorrect sides I had ordered. The server actually threw the plates onto the table, all while running around the restaurant and yelling to the other cooks and servers, disrupting anyone sitting close to the main register and bar. The rest of the staff had the same disruptive and rude behavior as well, so it wasn't just one bad egg. With so many BBQ joints in town competing against each other, I expected better service and quality of food. I will definitely not be back. read more

Food was pretty good. We went a half hour before they closed, coming in from outta town, and the only person who acted like we were there was our server. The rest of the employees were obnoxiously loud and walking around the dining area talking the whole time. Passing through Tallahassee and this restaurant was close to the hotel. I'm not crazy about BBQ because most BBQ is not that good. Sonny's food was excellent with good service. My husband had baby back ribs. They were falling off the bone with good sauce that didn't overwhelm the meat. His sides were good and he gave me his corn bread muffin that was tender not dry. I had a brisket sandwich with tender brisket and a nice sauce. If Sonny's was close to our home we would be regulars. read more

The food was good, typical of this chain, lovely tender pulled pork. With that said, the service was unfortunate. The waiter was nice (what little we saw of him) but it shouldn't take 10 min to get drinks when the restaurant was maybe half full at most. I'd hate to see what It's like when It's full. My first and last time to order here. Ordered from hotel 3 blocks away. Food arrived cold with no napkins or utensils. Try eating baked beans and banana pudding with no utensils. Shrimp were preprocessed and soggy. Cornbread was like a wad of dough. Called them and was told they were out of utensils. For an almost seven dollar delivery charge they could find some plastic forks somewhere. So nasty food and crappy service gets a 1 star only because I can't give a negative rating. read more

We came on Wednesday for the Yelp Hog Heaven event, and we're so impressed, we have been craving it ever since. We weren't really folks who ate at Sonny's before that event, and they have really turned things around. Everything we had at dinner tonight was fantastic. My husband had a combo plate of ribs and smoked wings with corn and baked beans. We split an app of the redneck eggrolls. My picky two year old had a few sides off my plate from the salad bar and a kid's mac and cheese entree with french fries. There was hardly anything left on his plate - so little, in fact, that we skipped the standard to go box for him. I had the salad bar. Everything was fresh, and we had a lovely dinner. My husband also had some of their house draft beer- the red one of some sort, and really enjoyed it. He tried it for the first time on Wednesday, and we didn't previously know that Sonny's had a house beer. We'll surely be back. read more

I ordered from this Sonny's BBQ through Grubhub twice, and both times I was missing at least 3 things from the order. Both times I've ordered the Family Feast they've left out the brisket and the sodas as part of the meal. I also didn't received the sweet tea I ordered the first time and the cornbread this last time. It's just really frustrating because the first time I assumed it was a mistake. But this exact same thing has happened twice, months apart. I feel like they just don't honor Grubhub orders. I sent a customer comment and emailed back and forth with the Regional Manager. He told me that he didn't even know that they were listed on Grubhub, then when I sent him the links to Sonny's Grubhub pages in Tallahassee he said he would investigate it. I don't think I'll order online from here again, because it just seems so shady and weird that the management wouldn't know. I would be wary of to-go orders from here in case this is a problem fulfilling orders in general. It's a shame because the food I did get taste pretty good. The pulled pork was delicious, easily my favorite thing on the menu. I especially liked the BBQ sauces that came with it. It was perfectly tender and flavorful. I've now tried both the Sweet ribs and the Dry-Rub, and between them I think the Sweet Ribs edged it out for me because they were juicier and more tender. Also, I didn't feel like the dry rub was very flavorful. The chicken I also felt was a little dry and bland both times I've had it. As far as the sidekicks, their baked potatoes were a great size. The broccoli wasn't bad. Sometimes restaurant vegetables can be overcooked and soft, but I remember it being tasty and firm. The fried okra was soggy and unappetizing, but it might have been that the moisture buildup in the Styrofoam container made the okra get soggy on the way to my house. read more

Waitress got orders wrong. Food took forever and then the ribs came cold. The big round table was broken so it wobbled every time someone touched it. The corn on the cobb was burnt. My daughters chicken strips weren't made with fresh oil. Tasted horrible. The only thing that tasted good was the lemonade. read more

We were on our way home from Disney and wanted to stop somewhere to rest and eat lunch. Looking at the ratings on Yelp, we thought this would be a great place to stop. It it close to I-10, so we assumed it would be fast service. So I'm writing this review while waiting for an hour for our food. For a large group (11), we were seated pretty quickly, but that was about all that was fast about our visit. The place was pretty crowded when we got here, but currently I see 8 empty tables around us. We ordered corn nuggets as an appetizer and those took over 20 minutes to be delivered to the table. There were several tables that were seated after us but received their food before we did, and finished their ENTIRE meal before we got our food. I'm pretty sure part of our order was delivered to the wrong table and then taken back to the kitchen. When our food finally came to the table it was slightly warm and one plate was cold and was promptly sent back to the kitchen. Not once did the manager come to our table and ask why a plate was sent back or how our meal was going. The table next to us (5 customers) had the same issues and had their entire meal comped. The food was decent, but by the time we got it we were so angry about the wait that it didn't really matter. Absolute waste of two hours! Now we are behind on our schedule. read more

Stayed in hotel close by looking for something to drive thru to take back to hotel but burnt out on fast food. Read the reviews decided on something else until I drove past & saw drive thru and u turned into Sonnys.quick service drive thru and food was awesome. Great find! read more
