Hackettstown isn't known for the best pizza... but I always liked Enzo's and after having their pies for years, I really grew to love their pies. Sonny's II on the other hand, was always thick and nasty, with dreadful sauce and cheap cheese. Then something happened in the time since Enzo's has closed up shop. Sonny's II tastes delicious ever since. The pies are thinner with more flavorful sauce and good cheese and pepperoni. I even called them to ask what changed and they told me nothing changed (which is BS, I've been eating their pies for the last five years off and on). Mike tries very hard to make customers happy. The staff is fast and friendly. Become a frequent patron and see what happens. Though the outside may be a little run-down, and the inside cramped, the food certainly makes up for it. Take a food adventure and try their French toast pizza, or the pirogi pie. Want an overflowing, fresh anti-past salad? They've got those too. Their chef Adam constantly creates new recipes, never settling for less than perfection. Ever get their buffalo-chicken garlic knots? Great stuff. Grab a bottle of wine next door or a cold six-pack while waiting for your pie. Convenient, fresh, delicious. read more

It's a shame the food here is actually decent because due to my experience ordering delivery last night, I have no intention of patronizing this restaurant in the future. I called to order dinner while over at my friend's house and was placed on a considerable hold (all the while privy to the young woman's conversations while she was assisting other customers...was the actual "hold button" out of commission?). She did apologize for the wait (I believe) and I gave her my information and order. She then proceeded to, in a far less than professional manner, ask if there was anything else we could add on to the order since "the $16 for someone to drive all the way out to Andover when I'm short on drivers" made it an inconvenience. Had my friend and I not been so hungry I would have cancelled the order at that point; however, we ordered a Caesar salad since we had talked about possibly getting an appetizer. The employee asked "with chicken or a regular Caesar salad?" I told her just regular- no chicken. At least 45 mins later, our food finally arrived, complete with chicken in the salad. Rude employee, wrong order, lengthy wait time, strong-armed into adding more to our order = a disgrace and a sad commentary in the world of local dining and customer service. Never again...there is food just as delicious at other establishments with superb customer service. Why would I ever give this restaurant my business again? Beware. read more

I have been here quite a few times the past few years. When I am looking for a local pizzeria that delivers..this place fits the bill for me. Nothing spectacular and nothing horrible. Delivery is always within time frame mentioned. Food is delivered hot. Food quality seems fine. The people that work there are pleasant In my opinion if I am going to pick up or eat in, I have other places I would rather go. I don't write reviews too often but this is my second one in a week. I only call it when I see it and this; this is an abomination to the legacy of outstanding Jersey pizza. This so called customer oriented pizzeria; with their numerous hand written in crayon certificates of amazement hung on their counter, they sure know how to deceive a customer. They lie, cheat, and steal their way into the pizza industry. I placed an order at FIVE THIRTY PM and chose delivery for ASAP (around 6 o clock). It is now 6:27 PM and I am still waiting for my damn pizza. All I ordered was a Sicilian pie, and 2 20 oz drinks. I have had it with this place, I recently had an order from here, and the wait time was even longer. Given the last time was Friday night dinner, I decided I would give them the benefit of the doubt and try again. Fatal mistake, never will I EVER be ordering from here again. And they want to charge me a delivery fee? Not in my house sister, you can take your 1.50 fee, keep it and light it on fire to keep your cold soul warm while your customers starve. read more

Very good Pizza. I particularly liked the Sicilian. Very reminiscent of Bronx pizza.

I like their pizza (also like Enzo's), but I find their antipasto and chicken wings to be the (far) better of the 2 places.

Best pizza in the area. I ordered a salad for delivery for a few friends...it was jam packed with all kinds of stuff.

So this place used to be very good. However, the last three times I placed orders there, it has been below average. The pizza is bland. The chicken wings were ordered extra crispy and were so mushy and soft.... gross! Then, they gave brown, rotten celery with it!!! Oh and their salad is wilted with lettuce is soaking wet & soggy and comes with a side of Kens dressing poured in a to go container! This pizzeria needs to have more pride in their food, not to mention, their patrons. Just please save your money (and calories) and bring your business to a different local pizzeria!!!! read more

I love this place and it's always my go-to local Italian delivery restaurant when I'm sick or can't quite get to cooking. My favorite menu item is the Veal Parmigana dinner which comes with LOTS of bread (really bread overload), a pasta of your choice, and either a soup or salad. There is a delivery charge but I think that's to ensure the driver gets tip or compensated for the delivery. Total for delivery of the Veal Parmigana dinner is $15.50 which isn't bad considering HOW MUCH you for the dinner. Could easily feed 2 hungry adults (the bread alone will :). Also they said it would take 1.5 hours to deliver but it only took 30 minutes - definitely "underpromising and over delivering" in my book. Only reason why I didn't give it a full 5 stars is because they don't have whole grain pasta selection. read more

The person who does the pizza dough is so rude and yet he does not wash his hands. He puts the pizza toppings with his bare hands no gloves or anything. He greets his customer with the same hands that he makes the pizza dough. Ugh!!!!! I'll rather eat the pizza from Franks than theirs. read more

I've never written a review before, but after three poor experiences at Sonny's Pizza II, I felt compelled to do so. I would like to start by saying that I actually really like the food here, it's the service and the people that will keep me from ever going back. The first night that we ordered from there it was carry-out. When we went to pick it up we stood in a line of about five people, I assumed they would service people in sequential order, as most lines work, but apparently that was not the case. It appeared that the "regular" customers in the back of the line took priority to those of us who had been waiting patiently for over twenty minutes! Our second time ordering we had our food delivered, one pizza. We were told it would be thirty minutes. After one hour passed, I called to make sure everything was OK and they told me it was on its way. I should mention that I live less than a half of a mile from the restaurant and it was a Tuesday, which if I'm not mistaken, is a relatively slow night. I called again 25 minutes later, somewhat upset and the man on the other end of the phone said "what would you like me to do?". Ironically, the delivery man knocked on the door as I was on the phone but I was appalled that not only was I not offered an apology, but he was incredibly rude and seemed annoyed that I would expect that my pizza would arrive in the time window they had given me and not an hour and a half later. Having worked in the customer service field before, I know the importance of keeping your patrons happy and might have expected an offering such as a coupon or a discount applied to my bill. The last and final time I ordered was this past Thursday. Realizing that it is a busy take out day and because we waited for almost an hour and a half for delivery prior, we opted for pickup. Again, we were told 30 minutes. You can only imagine how frustrating it was to arrive 35 minutes later and then watch them put the ticket in and only then begin to prepare our food! This restaurant has absolutely no regard for their customers and the value of their time. It's not as though I've ever ordered a complex meal, it's only pizza. I order takeout on the days that I'm looking for a quick fix, it should not take an hour and thirty minutes to pickup or have a pizza delivered. I will never again oder from Sonny's Pizza II, it's definitely not worth the wait. read more
