Their Ab Ex treatment was a good experience. However people should be aware they don't put you under for the treatment. You are heavily medicated and then given several shots of a local anesthetic, it is excruciating. The pain had me crying on the table. But being so drugged up on oral meds I couldn't do anything about it. I also had lipo done on outer thighs and upper arms. IMO it was a total waste of money. I was told arms responded really well to lipo when in fact I ended up with a lot of very loose skin. Lipo on the back bra area had a good outcome. My biggest complaint is abdominal area is not even. My right abdomen area is not quite as flat as left. I won't go back however as the thought of going through all that pain to fix it is daunting. After care was very good. But you are in a lot of pain for quite a while. I still have a lot of itching along scar even 14 months later. Was told it could take up to 2 years for that to resolve. From my initial consultation with Shab who detailed all of the options and procedures and made me feel comfortable, which is not easy. Sono Bello reminded me of a used car dealer experience. They have a lot of 5 star reviews but a number of the 5 star reviewers have only written a few reviews. I find this concerning, after I set an appointment they sent confirmations at least once a day by text, email and phone calls. That was getting old. I was there on time and filled out my paperwork. After waiting 40 minutes I asked why they were late? The receptionist didn't know why. I confirmed the appointment is with a sales person, not a doctor? She replied it's with a "consultant". At this time I felt if they were not going to respect my time before the sale how bad were they going to be once I have paid them. I find it fascinating how concerned they were with me showing up on time but didn't appear to be worried at all about there "consultant" showing up on time for our appointment. I did call and write Sono Bello headquarters I wanted to speak with someone from corporate. I get a call back from someone claiming to be the Portland manager. All she wanted to do is to get me to come back in for a sales pitch. I wanted to address the issues they have with being very late for appointments. The "manager" told me it's because they want to take there time with the customer and answer all there questions, and address there concerns. The didn't set people to a time limit because they care. My reply was if you care so much why don't you allot more time for your appointments and respect your other customers time. We'll people have different needs and some need to get approved for financing and that can take a while. Translation, we had someone in the hot box we were sweating them for the close and we needed more time to get them to sign the contract. Stay away there are much better companies out there! I had just a little tummy fat, but pretty decent tone. I was 10 lbs over my ideal weight, but overall pretty fit. I exercise, eat right, etc., but being in my mid-40's, it was hard to lose that bit of abdominal fat. Also, I had a little back fat (a small roll on each side). They assured me I was an ideal candidate, that I'd have a great result. UGH. My body is ruined. My skin is far looser than it was before, and my stomach is lumpy, bumpy and uneven with a "shelf" of fat. If you internet search "botched lipo," you'll find images like mine. I used to feel comfortable in a bikini, now I'm afraid to show my stomach. Just look at my before and after pictures. They don't show you the pictures of their botched jobs, but this is what could happen to you, just like it happened to me. I wore the compression garment perfectly, and I also had lymphatic drainage massage post procedure. When I told them I was concerned about how uneven my stomach looked during my follow up visits, they told me it could take a year to get the full result. Nothing changed. Word of advice. Get a second opinion first and don't fall for their sales pitch. My body is ruined because of them. I went in to have my waist defined some...on both sides. The results were horrible; my right side was so much more bruised and after I started to heal, I noticed my right side obviously had too much taken off. I can no longer where slim fitting dresses because my body is no longer an equial shape; it is now a lopsided box shape. I thought they had a guarantee policy so I requested they take a little more off my left side so that it matches my right side...that was all. They scheduled me an appointment to meet with the assigned doctor but he tried to make me feel like it was all in my head and then tugged and pulled on my sides and buttocks saying maybe I should get my bottom lifted. I am fine with my bottom, it was my waist was concerned about. After I had left, I didn't hear anything back from them. When I finally got to talk to someone, they said it would be too dangerous for me to get it corrected. They then tried to buy me off for $1,000 of the almost $5,000 I spent by sending me a settlement agreement that had no signature space for them...I did not sign because that would mean I couldn't tell others about what happened. I cannot say enough good things about the PORTLAND SONOBELLO TEAM! First off, on my consultation day I was greeted by this very kind and friendly staff name Cheryl. Then I met with the consultant by the name of Shaab and let me tell you, this beautiful lady had answered ALL of my questions and concerns and is a straight up, genuine person, professional and knowledgeable! She helped me every step of the way and is a very honest person. And what I meant by honest is... All other consultants I've ever met has always want to make money and wouldn't tell you the truth and don't care, BUT SHAAB would tell me straight up that I shouldn't do this one area (and laughed about it because they're no fat there to suck out) but instead use it for an area that's needed. I was just testing her and she PASSED!!! Then shortly after I was taking back to do my pre-op and met with Nurse Jennifer and Oxy to take my photos, vitals, weight and etc. Once again very nice and friendly! And soon after I met with my Dr. Lewis and he is AWESOME! I'll admit I was really nervous at first but after talking to him, I can tell he's very knowledgeable and skilled. He's down to earth, and most importantly, he truly listened to me. On the day of my surgery I was so nervous! Came in the office and seeing the beautiful smile on Cheryl made me feel a lot better. Especially Dr. Lewis' nurse, she kept the conversation going during the procedure to distract me during uncomfortable times. Honestly, most of the procedure was fine, just a few times when it was uncomfortable. I did not feel pressured or "up sold" at all. I had four areas treated (liposuction) and I think they could have easily recommended a few others, but they didn't. They were realistic and honest with me about the results I could expect. "Over promise and under deliver" would be an appropriate motto for Sono Bello..... I had such high hopes for this, but like the others it am sorely disappointed. At my consultation I asked specifically if I would actually go down a dress size and if so how many? The sparkly salesperson said without a doubt I would go down at least 2 sizes!!! Sign me up, I plunked down $5k. I will spare you the gory details, but I didn't even go down 1 size after having smart lipo on hips, tummy, and back. Furthermore, I have a lumpy left hip and am embarrassed to get into a bathing suit. The surgeon was arrogant and jerky, and I never once saw the same nurse - it was so strange. Every time I went in, I was seen by a different nurse. This is by no means my first cosmetic surgery, and continuity is one key to patient comfort. I am a faithful yelp user. I don't write a lot of reviews. I am a lazy yelp user. I do consult yelp on just about every restaurant I dine at and every place I have ever done business with. I have found it extremely useful and the reviews I have read have no doubt saved me from bad experiences and guided me to some really great ones. That being said I felt compelled to write a review about my fantastic experience at Sono Bello. I am 47 years old and like most guys my age had gained some weight in my early 40's. I went from 175 pounds to 230 pounds. I felt terrible. My back ached. I could feel my belly bounce when I walked. I decided to get serious about my health again and started back to the gym. It took over a year but I got back to 184 pounds. I felt great but the "man boobs" that quite honestly inspired me back to the gym above all else remained. In fact they were more pronounced (at least to me) after the weight loss. No matter what I did they remained. I still felt uncomfortable taking my shirt off. So about a year ago I saw a Sono Bello commercial. I made the appointment and my wife and I went in for a consultation. We met with Shab who was very helpful and informative. She was not pushy. I told her we would go home and give it some thought. So I took a look at yelp. The reviews that were posted were HORRIBLE and I decided not to do business with Sono Bello. That was the end of it or at least that's what I thought. Fast forward almost exactly one year later. I had worked out five days a week religiously. The enemy boobies remained. One day I happened to be standing in my living room with a good friend of mine and the Sono Bello commercial comes on and I tell him my story about going there and feeling pretty good about it until I read the yelp reviews. He asks me if I bothered to look at all the reviews. He tells me that not all reviews are posted for one reason or another and that they are still available at the bottom of the screen. So he pulls up yelp and shows me. There were some great reviews on there! I talk to the wife and tell her I want to have another consultation. So, we make another appointment, meet with Shab again who was great and understanding and sign up. I had the pre-surgical meeting with Dr Bensimon that evening. I liked him right away. Straight forward, dry sense of humor. My kind of guy. He tells me I'll see a huge improvement but not to have unrealistic expectations. I think that is the key folks. REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS. I am never going to be 20 years old again. I know I will have to continue to work out and eat right. This is just one element of many that will give me back some confidence and let's face it- fuel my vanity. I had the surgery. It went great. I was amazed at the comfort level during the procedure and have been FLOORED WITH THE RESULTS! It has been less then a month and the results are far better then I had hoped for. So, my advice is to read all the reviews on yelp. Then go see these folks. They are fantastic! The surgery was affordable. And if as a guy you suffer from embarrassing gynecomastia, man boobs, moobs, whatever you want to call it- have the surgery- feel better! I had an eyelid lift as I had hooded eyelids and it was starting to affect my vision. I had heard that an eyelid lift would help so I gave myself a birthday present. The second night after my procedure I woke up and was able to read the clock without putting my glasses on. I can also read the shampoo and conditioner bottles in the shower without squinting. I am now 2 weeks out and while I am not quite at the mascara wearing stage yet I have very little bruising and swelling. I'm like most everyone I know and have tried multiple diet and exercise programs to a frustrating result. A little backstory about me: I'm moderately over weight for my height on the scales, according to the height weight charts. I'm a size 8 very muscular and still considered athletically fit but I should be a size 4 and 15 lbs lighter. I gain muscle so easily - but have a very difficult time losing any weight or body fat. I'm a boxy-ish Apple shape. Much to my years of unhappiness and dismay. My daughter jokingly referred to me as a "long back" meaning I really don't have that graceful slope of the hips, I'm kind of boxy and hold weight above my buttocks so there's no definition in the curve of my lower back or hips going down toward my butt, there's a handful of hip pad, making it look like I have no butt. :( I also have a muffin top and while I've got some obliques visible, my very strong abs are hidden under a decent layer of fat. Frankly I never seem to get to the point of feeling really confident in my clothes, swimsuit, or especially... naked. Because of this I really have to be careful about what I eat and diligently track my calories. Even when I do, my body likes to hang on to these frustrating stubborn areas of fat that don't ever seem to go away no matter how much I diet and exercise. I thought maybe I had a "dysmorphic" body image but pictures helped me realize no - I'm still chubby! Despite being very active, exercising and watching what I eat! She didn't mean to be hurtful but it really made me realize no... I'm not harshly judging myself... it's just the reality of my physique because of my higher body fat percentage and where my body decides to store (and hold on to) my fat so my shape is not pleasing to me. I get so down on myself and discouraged, go off my diet, make it worse for myself for a week (or month!) then have to climb back on the wagon and start over again - I remind myself to choose what I like about myself and be grateful for all I have, obviously I'm not starving and I'm so blessed beyond measure yet I can't force myself to feel good about myself or be ok with my physique! I'm not going to lie that I've looked at a million before & after pics for Lipo and this company and considered cosmetic procedures for years. YEARS. I've read all the reviews and info about the procedures & companies and doctors etc but finally decided to take the leap and take advantage of a special and free consultation despite some obviously negative reviews mixed in there. I just wanted to know if it was something attainable or unrealistic for me, physically and financially. My impression with SB right out of the box is that this group is professional, courteous and sensitive staff, with a beautiful clean facility. My free consultation in June with Shab was excellent. She listened, and empathized with my concerns and even shared her personal experiences and recommendations. She didn't pull any punches in explaining what I would need to have done in order to attain the results I wanted. Not in a smarmy salesman-y way, but in a way that led me to believe she truly understands my goals and is making a recommendation to fulfill those goals. She showed me before and after pics that you'll never see online no matter how much you search. Not all of them impressive to me personally in terms of how they look after but I considered the patients look "before" and what the doctor can safely do at one time and softened that determination. I appreciated her candor. Best of all, she presented options that were much more affordable than I'd anticipated and so... I truly think with a solid plan including a healthy diet paired with a regular exercise program in place, this could help greatly. My cousin had her hips and belly done and LOVES the results on her hips, tho not as thrilled about her belly... but she admits to never changing her eating habits either... maybe she'd see better results if she did! I'm not quite ready to tell all my secrets here just yet but let's just say I've got a lot to think about and Interest free financing... the goal is even more attainable yet...
