First time trying this place even though I've driven by it a million times and now I'm wondering why I never went sooner. We were craving tacos and tamales and boy did this place taste delicious! We ordered a little sampler of all types of tacos and my favorite was the adobada taco (pork with spices). People were also ordering tamales by the dozen so we decided to try a chicken one and it tasted so warm and fresh. Next time I want to try to enchiladas and chili verde! Checking in at one of my favorite mom and pop establishments Lunch with my wife we were at storage and needed lunch. Grab 2 Carnitas burritos and I grabbed a lengua taco. Also a pound of chicharrons they have a pan with three styles. Burritos were great good size and filling my lengua taco topped it off. Old school place very clean they sell other essentials spices and sauces as well as tortillas, tamales and if you want a meal for the family they can provide that too. Minus a star for the customer service, this is a very casual/ window ordering shop, where you order and either take the food to go like most of the customers, however there are some tables inside if you choose to eat there. The workers there speak mainly Spanish and it's the kind of place where you have to make yourself known, or you won't know which window to order at and the next customer will just swoop right in front of you. It took a couple of minutes for anyone to acknowledge me and The only other person in the shop was waiting for his food. I get it, I'm not Mexican but a hello would have been proper. Another star gone because... raw tamale. See the photo, no bueno. The food however, DELICIOUS! One of the best in the area period. The enchilada sauce very flavorful with hits of garlic, onion, chile but also very greasy and oily- damp it with a napkin and that should do it. I've been a customer since my high school days and coming even after 10+ years, the burritos never change. I love this place because of the nostalgia but also how it's basically a small family business working thru each day. I usually get the asada burrito because I feel like the mix of salsa and carne marinade is perfect. The asada is flavorful without the lime being overpowering and I like how there are chewy pieces in the asada (tendon?) that distinguish it from the normal asada meat. It gives good texture and taste into the burrito. The next time I go there, I may ask if I can get extra onions and cilantro but overall the burrito is solid. It never fails to satisfy my burrito craving. Definitely a staple place that I'll always return to. read more

Finally went today and the burrito is $7.75 , and pretty hefty on the filling and meat. The taquitos are dry and super greasy. The pozole is an 8 out of 10. The pan dulce is days old most of the time. It's rare when they have fresh bread. Found this place accidentally after decades since my grandmother took us to their store formerly on Pioneer Blvd. Got the carnitas burrito with everything and it was super tasty even before adding their red sauce. It is honestly the best tasting, authentic Mexican food in the Cerritos/Artesia area, and with old school taco shack prices (not like your froufrou Frida or Amor y Tacos...) Sonora was my favorite for that crispy fatty goodness of pork skin fried up - chicharron! Long before they moved to this location (over 10 years ago). An order of burrito adobada pork had extremely chewy bits in it. It was very large, and I did get it wet, green and cheesy. That sauce was good. To round off my craving, I also got a container each of rice and beans, both of which were really more bland than I would have liked. Sadly, I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. read more
