Steak houses are limited in My home town, but I remembered of this fairly new steakhouse that opened up. So today celebrating our 30 year wedding Anniversary I decided to give Fusion a try. We ordered the pulpo a la brasas and rib eye Steak with side of grilled shrimp. The pulpo was amazing. It was Tender qnd sliced up nice and had a good grill taste. I got house rice which was tasty and it came with a grilled tomato, grilled yellow chilis & onions and guacamole and a corn quesadilla. It was delicious.The rib eye was perfectly made with great flavor and juices. My Husband got roasted green chili with cheese and a garden salad. He said it was one of the best steaks he has had. We are currently, temporarily in The Valley for work, from San Diego. This restaurant has been the ONLY establishment across El Centro, Imperial and Brawley, that has excellent service and excellent food. We have tried many restaurants, and unfortunately, they've been very bad. The food and service at Sonora is equal to San Diego's restaurants. We have dined at Sonora Fusion 12 times, in a period of two months. Our server, Kenia, has been very attentive, respectful and helpful. We book reservations ahead of time, to ensure a table. Food is delicious, prices are absolutely low, for what they serve. Steaks are pretty large for the price, compared to San Diego or LA. Some reviews differ in opinion, they've clearly have not dined outside of The Valley. Our steaks have been very consistent, cooked to perfection. Appetizers: Grilled Octopus 10/10. The service was a 3 out of 5. The food for a "high end steakhouse" price was horrible other than the salmon and tuna appetizer which was absolutely amazing. The New York steak presentation was good but it was too chewy all the way around really bizarre. The Ribeye presentation was great again but the toughness of the meat was like a top sirloin. The shrimp tacos my mother in law had were the best actual meal of all. Great flavor. The sides again good but not great. Asparagus cooked good but lacking in flavor. The house potatoes really recommend with or without chipotle. Overall wouldn't recommend or come back. Didn't like that the whole meal was on one plate. The salad should have come on its own plate not on plate with meal. Pics in post. One more review the cheese stuffed peppers we're also above average. Appetizers and side 3 or 4 out of 5. When this place first opened, it was great. Service and food quality has gone down. Went for Mother's Day and ordered the Parrillada Yaqui. Oh and the roasted cauliflower tasted burnt. No zing whatsoever. The shrimp has a delicious charbroiled flavor but it was so hard to get the meat off the shell. The tripas were super oily and not crispy. Didn't eat them. Grilled octopus was good. Beef ribs were super fatty!! Don't eat them. Cheese broth was delicious. Ribeye was good. The water and iced tasted like it was made of pool water. For dinner I had a steak and lobster the sides were potatoes and cheese filled peppers. The lobster was over cooked but everything else was wonderful. We came here for my boyfriends birthday dinner and oh boy it did not disappoint. My boyfriend has been eye balling their tomahawk steak on Yelp for a while now and today he finally tried it out. According to him, "it was the best steak I've ever had". The steak itself was 95$ and it came with two sides. We also ordered grilled shrimp on the side. Both were very delicious and flavorful. I got the ribeye aguachili. I've never had aguachili with beef before and that was a very unique first time experience for me. I've always thought that lime can only cook shrimp. The ribeye was perfectly cooked on the grill and the dish was served warm, instead of cold. The ribeye was soaked in their homemade sauce that was absolutely delicious. There's a first time for everything and that unique dish really opened my eyes. I also got the shrimp salad. I'm not usually a salad person and I only ordered that to be healthy. That salad was absolutely fresh and they come with a huge portion of grilled shrimp. Alcohol here is really cheap. On average every drink was around 11$. The Pina colada was served in a pineapple, just like the ones they serve in Mexico. The drinks weren't too sweet but the deliciousness sure masked the nasty alcohol taste in the drinks( if you love fruity drinks like me but hate the alcoholic after taste). We got the pina colada, mai Tai, and a mojito. We finished our meal with churro cheese cake and chocolate cake (so much for staying healthy right?) I'm not really a fan of too much chocolate, in general but my boyfriend went crazy for the chocolate cake. The churro cheesecake was to die for. Service here was great. Our waitresses was awesome and attentive. We came around 5 pm on a Sunday so it wasn't that busy, but people started to pile in just when we were leaving.
