John and Audrey are pieces of absolute shit. I worked for them for about 1 month, longer than any other employee lol. I am a black 22 year old woman and they were completely prejudice against me. Our current team lead is a white 20 year old woman. Spraying the park is a two times daily procedure. I would spray the park (exactly how the team lead would do it) and somehow it was always wrong. They fired me because I informed them I had another job and was flustered by all the training I had to do. They did not let me put in my two weeks, but let the other two white women put theirs in. I told Audrey that I still need the job. She showed no empathy when I told her I needed the job for my bills, while I got my other job and training dates in order. Instead she hired new people and fired me on my day off. She is a micromanager, egotistical bitch. I would not bring your animal to this facility, due to the incompetence of the owners. I liked working there for the time being, but to be fired on my day off is absolutely insane. By the way their turn over rate is insane. The 3 weeks I worked there, I saw 2 people get fired and like 3 quit. Don't even get me started on the customers. People would bring their dogs to daycare and by the time they picked them up, their dog would be soaked with piss. John and Audrey said they would not put any money into repairing the facility. I got scratched by a dog and she left a huge scratch on my arm. Audrey insisted that it was my fault and that I didn't have the dog under control. Fuck both of them. I wanted to share what has been a terrible experience with this location. I recently moved to Anthem and wanted to secure a place for my dog. I must admit that I am new to the community and haven't boarded a dog in many years. however from start to finish, this organization was truly a mess. first of all, they didn't want to talk to me in person and referred all questions of how to go about boarding to the website , which I thought was very impersonal especially when I showed up to their actual physical location. when I told them that I needed to get my dog boarded , they told me that it would take over three weeks because of their various processes. although I understand a business has processes , I felt they could've been more understanding and emphatic in my situation, they should know willingness to work with me, despite despite my cleared situation . In addition, their website is confusing hard to navigate and needs to be tightened up for more efficiency. Lastly, after speaking with the owner, we realized it would not be a good fit and she chastised me for a poor review. Can you believe that!!? reviews are for others based on the authors opinion, not on the fact that the owner might be upset because there's a poor review which could impact our business! I did talk to one other neighbor, and they did say that this place tends to nickel and dime owners, and the true cost is not reflective of the daily rate. today there's so many other places to get pet sitting services, including Rover , private party and adam of doody services. Very disappointed in the customer svc. Our dogs had been going there for the past 6 years, but haven't been since 11/7/2022 (key fact) due to we work from home since covid, and they are now 7 years old and can be left alone for longer periods of time. I purchased ten 1/2 Day Day Care Certs - and wanted to use them on Monday 11/6/2023. The customer svc person told me I needed to have them "re-evaluated" since it's been over a year since they had been in. They only evaluate them on Tuesdays, and I need Monday care.....so while she is telling me the policy is a year, and it is only 1 day short of being a year, I can't bring them in. So they need to change their policy to 364 days, she is totally unreasonable, and rude. read more

I left both a voice message and email message (via their link in their website) and to date, about 2 weeks or so now, STILL no reply whatsoever. It's really too bad because this establishment received quite a few rave reviews, so I was really looking forward to and had every confidence in having my dog under their care while we're away on an extended vacation this coming May. Our dog love this place!! They do a fantastic job dog sitting out pooch when she needs some playtime with other dogs or if we need someone to watch her when we travel!! Our dog seems to like this place over the (larger pet day camps and hotels around Phoenix)!! The best way we can tell she prefers he Sonoran Desert Pet Resort over Pet(not so)Smart, she doesn't have that nervous shake when we take her in. We don't have to drag her in, and in fact she drags us into the doors at Sonoran!! When we pick her up, you can tell she had loads of fun and she's tired from playing and she DOES NOT SMELL!! We used to use the other places and she would come home stinky and you could tell she was ready to come home. (LET ME OUT OF HERE!!) This is becoming our dogs home away from home. The staff here is very friendly, professional and you can tell they are genuinely interested in taking care of your pet. You pet isn't just another ticket for them... They rates are very reasonable!! Over night stays range between $33 - $43 depending on what type of room or kennel your dog prefers. Their Daycare is very reasonable too! The Half Day Daycare up to 6 hours is probably the best deal at just $12 where as a full Day Daycare is $20. They do watch cats too, but I have no idea what their rates are for cats. This is an excellent place to bring your pooch whether it's just for a couple of hours, a day or over night! The safety and security of your pet is there top priority. I know my dog is looking forward to her next daycare/over night stay at the Sonoran Desert Pet resort! Hopefully she will see your dog their too! read more

My step-mom's cat weights 25 pounds. He's not fat though. He's just big boned. And when it's time to clean up the big guy, we call Sonoran Desert Mobile Grooming because if I tried to bathe and groom him, he'd probably claw my face off. The best thing about the mobile groomers is that they seriously come to your house, so it's a lot less upsetting for your pet. There are no long car rides, just a short walk to the groomer's mobile- that's it. Although I could hear him yowling all the way inside- even with the TV on- I knew he would be happy once it was all over. And I was right. He looked very spiffy and I could tell he now walked with confidence knowing that his once lackluster fur was now shiny and gleaming. The prices are reasonable too, and the groomers are very nice, and kind to your pets. read more

Sonoran Desert Pet Resort - Pet Groomers Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Normally this place has been great to our dogs, but during their last stay their medications were seriously screwed up. Let me preface this by saying I have worked in dog boarding/veterinary facilities before (over 2 years of experience in boarding and 5+ as a vet tech). I have a pretty good understanding of what goes on behind closed doors, but I also have a good idea of what makes a kennel tech's job easier. Knowing this, I separate my dogs food into individual baggies for each meal and mark them accordingly. That way there is no measuring out or confusion of amount needed, simply dump the ziplock bag into the bowl. I used to LOVE when clients did this for me, and so did my former coworkers - so that's what I do whenever my dogs are boarded or we have a pet sitter. My dogs also get supplements (both get fish oil, one gets coesquin.) both of which can just be dropped in the bowl along with the food (no need to hide it). I added these to the ziplock bags of food for the AM meals and notified the receptionist. They said they would have to charge a medication fee... fine, that's nothing new, I'll happily pay it since I understand from experience that it's an extra step that takes extra time. They asked me what the contents of the bags were and the daily dosages of the pills in the bags, but said nothing about tampering with the bags (I will get to that later) When we picked up our dogs on Sunday - we had to make a special appointment to come get them. Again, fine, I understand that people have to work there even if the lobby isn't open that day. The tech/employee that gave us our dogs was very friendly, so we really didn't mind. We were mostly just happy to have our dogs back after a long business trip/Thanksgiving with the family that spanned 10 days. The dogs were very clean, happy, and energetic as usual so we just loaded them in the car and drove home. When we got home I set their stuff from the kennel aside (a duffel bag that had their food/pills in it) and didn't get a chance to look at it until Tuesday when I had recovered from the holiday/traveling. This is when I noticed three bags of unused pills. I was really confused because, one, these weren't the bags I put the pills in (remember, they were in with the food) and because there were LOTS OF EXTRA PILLS! There shouldn't have been ANY pills! The reason I had not bothered to look in the dog's duffel bag was because I didn't expect there to be anything in it except the extra food I packed just in case we were delayed. Surprisingly enough, the bags marked "extra" were no where to be found, even though the dogs should have never gotten them. There were no pills inside the 'extra' bags. There were three small ziplock bags with my dogs names and kennel number on them. Two of the bags contained 6 fish oil pills each, the other contained two days worth of cosequin. There shouldn't have been ANY extra... but some reason, I had extras of everything. Out of 9 fish oil pills for my younger dog (1 per day), we received 6 back. For my older dog we had given them 18 fish oil pills (two per day) and also got 6 back, and of 9 days worth of chewable cosequins we got 2 days worth back. I just don't understand what they did to end up with that many left over. We were also concerned because, they mix our dogs up. They call the male by the females name every time we drop them off, and then put their ID collars on after I correct them. I never thought much of it until now because who knows if they were messing it up in the back. The younger dog is also on a medication that needs to be hidden in a pill pocket - I do not add these to the food bags. When we got home, the appropriate amount of these pills were left over, but after all this, it makes me wonder if they were even giving these pills to the correct dog. My husband called up yesterday to just try and find out what happened and had to leave a message for a manager to call him back. Mark promptly called my Husband back this morning to discuss the issue. He told my husband it was their policy to remove medications from bags so that only the managers can give them. If I had known this before dropping my dogs off, I would have prepared their medications differently. He also said that they keep a log of when the medications are given, and that on their end - everything looked like it had been done correctly. However, there is no way possible that it was done correctly considering I only gave them enough pills for the stay. I know that missing a few doses of fish oil pills and joint supplements isn't a medical emergency , but it really makes me nervous that so much medication was left over. Nice place, the dogs always come home clean and healthy, but beware if your pet needs medication! I just expected more from this place after unloading $800 there. read more

Sonoran Desert Pet Resort (SDPR) is home away from home for our pampered Boxer Norman. In fact, we think he likes the people and the amenities they provide better than what he gets with us! We have boarded him at SDPR for as long as month and as briefly as a few hours without concern for his well-being. When we drive up to let him off he can hardly wait to get out of the car and his tail is wagging 100 miles an hour. We really appreciate all of the staff at SDPR. Norman has a special affinity for Jared. He recognizes Jared's voice on the phone when we make reservations and stands by the door waiting to go. Jared makes sure Norman gets all the care he needs and then some. Each member of Jared's team love Norman and we are confident he is in good hands each time we have to leave him there. They follow our instructions regarding his diet and medications faithfully. They alert us to any changes they observe in Norman. We consider them an integral part of Norman's family and we highly recommend SDPR for your pet when they need a fabulous getaway. read more

My dog loves them more than me now .... hee hee hee (just kidding, but just saying)! I have a dog that is very skittish with strangers, hates the vet, BUT ABSOLUTELY LOVES THIS PLACE! She will run right up to the workers and run right into their door tail wagging like crazy. She gets so excited as soon as I turn my car onto their street. I've never seen her so happy outside of our house, or away from my husband and I except when she is at doggy day care with them. The staff is so nice, helpful, and FAST getting her in when I drop her off. They make me feel so calm when I leave her for the day and drive away -- I get to enjoy a day of knowing that I can consentrate on work. On days when I know there will be thunder (which terrifies her!), I drop her off there to play all day, and she never even hears it or knows it's going on. She's just too busy playing. Those days I can actually just enjoy hearing the stormy weather and not worry about my poor pup shivering because of it. I can go on and on and on. Just know the staff is amazing, friendly, and my dog LOVES them! read more

Where do I even start? This place is absolutely amazing. Our Australian Shepherd attends daycare and boarding here often and we've never had any bad experiences. The moment I walk into the door they know my dogs name and they are always so excited to see him. This makes me feel at ease knowing that I'm leaving my dog in good hands with people that genuinely love their job and that care about their clients/customers. I have had to take my dog here a few times when we went out of town. The receptionist is very nice and attentive. My dog is always healthy and happy when I pick her up. **PLEASE read if you are considering making your animals suffer at this horrible place.** It is a TERRIBLE pet resort that should be shut down. I am considering reporting them for animal cruelty and endangering animal welfare. Cockroach and tick infested establishment and unreported kennel cough... I left my pup there for 2 weeks as I was on summer vacation and when my husband picked up my dog, my dog had ticks and the dog's white fur was stained yellow from urine. There was also feces stuck between his paws and scratches on his skin. A friend of mine has had her dog stay here and when she picked her dog up, it was limping... I thought the dog could have just gotten into a scuffle with another pup and still tried out the pet resort, but now I am thinking that the owners are not treating the animals well. When I took my dog for a walk later that night, his poop was filled with cockroach shells, legs, and wings... Also, upon taking my pup to the vet after he had a bad cough and ticks upon returning from the resort, I was told he had contracted kennel cough, which I was NOT told was going around the resort. NEVER go to this place!!!! They need an exterminator and to alert customers about diseases going around and to learn compassion for animals instead of allowing animals to eat roach infested food and not allow them to become scratched and injured. We stay home a lot with our dogs, so I have not really used their boarding but maybe once. We have three dogs, one being a cocker spaniel who needless to say gets very hot here in the summer. We have used their mobile pet groomer for the past few years and have no complaints. He comes back looking very good and seems to be in a good mood. This summer we took him in the shop for the first time to be groomed and I was very happy with their willing to help. I had not gotten his shot records to them, but they made it real easy by having it faxed and I was able to get my dog in the next day with no problems. We won't ever use Sonoran Pet Resort again. They ran groupons they wouldn't honor and were extremely rude about the situation. Its quite a shame. We travel alot and were genuinely excited to find this resource for our beloved pets. Since we were existing customers, we were told that even though their groupon did not say new customers only, we were out of luck and they wouldnt honor it. . With 12 hours to go before our trip, we were left with no pet care. I couldnt believe how little they cared about our long term business. We had 3 more trips to use them for coming up! This place is amazing! I bring my 2 dogs here to kennel them while we are on vacation and I couldn't be happier. One is a very spazzy Belgian Malinois and am always very cautious about where I leave her because of her confidence issues with men. But after leaving her there a few times she seems to be doing great!!!! They always tell me how well they both did and how good they were (the one dog is always good so I mainly worry about the Malinois). I would recommend this place to anyone how has a high maintenance dog whose looking for capable people to care for him/her. read more

Our 15 months Havanese has been going there for about a month and she loves it. She's going two days a week and doesn't try to race me out the door as I leave, she's willing and ready to go back with the staff and play with her doggie Pals. We love that they're scheduled activities and that she learns different things to do each day of the week. The staff does a fantastic job at watching the dogs and keeping them busy having fun. We love seeing the pictures posted on Facebook and watching her in the videos it's so fun to see her play with so many different breeds of dogs. We normally take our dogs to this facility up until recently. Seems like lately they have their noses up in the air and think they can treat the customers like crap. If we wanted to be spoken to like we are idiots & the lowest life form....we would go to Scottsdale to be treated that way. The front staff has been rude the past few times we have gone in. As far as purchasing their "deals" off of Groupon...DO NOT DO IT. They don't honor what you pay for. You are not allowed to use the coupon on more than 1 animal AND only 1 per household. Also that was not stated in the rules/regulations area of the coupon. We were told after we purchased the coupon, that the coupon was for new customers only, and again this was NOT stated in the rules/regulations. Also when we first started going there, they actually had cameras set up so you could check in on & see the play areas where your animals would be. That no longer exists. If they treat the humans with such disrespect, make you wonder how they are treating the animals. read more

My pet was very ill after staying in this facility. I called the owner and was given the brush off and excuses for why my pet was not cared for properly. My animals medication wasn't given properly and their diets weren't followed as evident from the number of pills and cans of food returned to me after their visit. But the second time I left him for only four days and he scratched his paw pads bloody from trying to get out of the cage and he wasn't happy to be here. We take our very large and energetic lab mix Emme there twice to three times a week and she LOVES it. She is so excited when she gets there and she has a great time. And before that, Marc Underwood, the resort's owner, provided us with at-home pet sitting on a regular basis. We are so fortunate to have a pet resort of this calibur right in our own back yard. And even if we had to travel across the Valley to bring them here, we would. Used to love this place and so did my dog, went there for years. It has changed recently. My dog has separation anxiety, one of the reasons I use daycare. If there are too many dogs or they are overwhelmed, they used to be put in a separate area (park) with a staff member to play with them. Last experience they put her there all by herself causing a fear reaction. She tried to grab the staff member leash to prevent her from leaving and accidentally caused a tiny tiny nip. They isolated her in a kennel at that point. I did not receive a phone call, they just isolated her-I should have been called. For some reason trouble happens only with certain staff members and there has been no other instances like this with other employees. When I asked about body language, etc during this event they had no idea of body language-answer was "I don't know". Not acceptable when working with dogs. I'm sad-really looked at this place as her second home. read more

Stay Away! My ideal situation would be to have somebody I know and trust stay at my house and watch my four fur babies. Unfortunately, only being here for a little over a year, that's not possible. I recently boarded my babies for maybe the 3rd time ever in their 9 years. I thought it was good, but my experience keeps getting worse. I explained they eat from one bowl and have food available to them 24/7. It was agreed upon that they would be fed in the morning and evening. I took a gallon sized Ziploc bag full of 3 bowls of food for each day (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday even though I planned to pick them up early Monday). As I was leaving from dropping them off, I asked if I would receive pictures every day as this is what they did in the other place I boarded them. I was told they only did that for the day care pups. I paused as I wasn't sure of the logic. Why would you not show proof the dogs are doing well when they're there for an extended period of time, but do when they're only there a few hours? I was going to ask if there was a camera I could tap into, but figured that was a longshot if I wouldn't even get pictures. (The only other place I boarded them had a virtual camera I could tap into to view them throughout the day along with getting daily pictures.) Dropped off my pups on a Thursday and called each day (including later that day), with the exception of Sunday as I was told nobody is in the lobby. Picked them up on Monday morning. Each one had what appeared to be vomit on them in various areas and their beds were dirty with urine and vomit. These dogs are 3 and 9 years old - fully house broken! Why would they have urine on their beds if they were let out as much as I was told they would be? Once I got home and settled, I realized I never got the food back. So I called and left a message late morning/early afternoon Monday. After not receiving a call back, I called again around 1730. The girl told me she meant to call me back because they looked all over and couldn't find any extra food. She went back in the office to look again. Then I was told the food is thrown away so it doesn't get buggy. I'm not arguing the logic. I'm really not. It makes sense. I just wasn't told this. Had I been given this information, I would've done things differently. bought a brand new bag of $60 Blue Buffalo food and packed extra as I wasn't sure how to ration it out. I picked them up around 0830 Monday morning which meant there was at least 2 bowls worth of food in the bag. All thrown away. Obviously I wasn't happy. The girl suggested I speak with the owners. I agreed. That later changed from the owners to the manager. I spoke with the manager, Ashley, today (Tuesday). She said she saw that I 'wanted' to speak with the owners, but they were 'up north and had no cell reception'. Explained I didn't 'want' anything and speaking to the owners was suggested to me. She reiterated everything I was told above. Explained I wasn't told my food would be thrown away and that I just bought a new bag for them for these trips and said it was $60. She told me she could give me a $30 credit. I asked where that number came from after going back and forth, asking if that was policy. She told me it was not policy I just told her I spent $60 and that's the number she threw out. I explained the following: I just spent $440 for the biggest room they had, I will be spending $880 next week, Booked grooming out of convenience spending an additional $220, Pointed out that's a total of $1540 in two weeks. It was clearly a circular conversation. I explained I understood the cancellation policy and that I wouldn't be going back there, but I'm strapped as it's less than 7 days before the reservation. I don't feel they're being looked after given how they looked when I picked them up, condition of the beds and the loss of food. (keep in mind, the only other place I used for boarding made it mandatory to bathe the dogs before leaving as to not leave with any fleas or such) I also pointed out the inflexibility of the credit and arbitrary number spoke volumes. I know I choose to have 4 dogs and it's expensive. That's exactly why I don't do this frequently--They go everywhere with us. We're moving and we must go to that state to look for houses. I have no choice now. When I do choose to pay for these services, however, I hope my dogs are being well cared for. What made me even angrier is my one dog has been shaking his head. I looked in his ear and found his left ear to be red and enflamed with dark brown stuff around the canal. Looks like ear mites. Guess what that means - More money being spent tomorrow at the vet! Almost never board them and when I do I have vet bill! Now I have to wait until Thursday to maybe hear back so I can deliver this news. That's when I'm told the owners might be back in cell coverage.
