Then came the steak & shrimp fajitas (rah roh). For $27, we were served 2 short shoelace strips of steak and 5 shrimp hiding under a bed of limp onions, a few green peppers and no seasoning (not even salt let alone cumin, chili powder and all the stuff you'd expect with proper fajitas). Last minute decision to stop here. Wanted to just hang at Lake Las Vegas for the day and decompress. I was going to drive away from here and eat, but Mexican food is always near and dear to my stomach and a friend said this spot was good. It was super packed, I decided to sit at the bar. It was a sign, please wait to be seated at the bar. I stood and waited. People walked past me(employees) and no one asked me anything initially. I got annoyed and was going to leave but a kind server asked if I had been helped, I said no. He said you are the first person to stand here, I said I know how to follow directions. He sat me in a corner booth right away. My server was cool, efficient but not super friendly but it was busy. I was by myself so I am pretty easy as a customer but that's why they didn't get 5 stars. Did i order a salad with my tacos ? Me and my husband went to eat at this restaurant in lake las vegas and ordered the 2 Carne asada tacos each and was served with a HUGE amount of lettuce on top. We were able to fill 2 plates with the amount of lettuce that was on top! When it arrived at the table we thought they got the order incorrect because you could NOT visually see the tacos under all that lettuce. The tacos itself was DOUSED in oil . We couldn't even get through a single bite without an overload of oil . We didn't even bother finishing it and left . Very disappointing wouldn't recommend. We came in for Mother's Day lunch the day before mother's day and the service from MAYRA WAS AMAZING!! There's both inside and outside seating. Inside is very festive, with mariachi music playing. Chips perfectly salted!I ordered a shredded beef chimichanga with green sauce on top and a side of guacamole. Another ordered flautas and said they were AMAZING! Sunrisa grill is one of my favorite authentic Mexican restaurants with great prices. So much energy here! I love sitting on the patio especially when the weather is nice. They always have good music playing or a DJ is playing here especially on the weekends. Some of my favorite dishes here are the tacos, enchiladas with the green sauce, tostada salad, tamales, and Camarones Al mojo De Ajo. For dessert you have to try the Flan! It's amazing' For a drink my go to is The sangria it's delicious. If you come during Happy Hour Mon-Thur from 3-6 the Sangria is only $6. I firmly believe this is the best restaurant in lake Las Vegas. Love coming here to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy excellent Mexican cuisine. They have both indoor and outdoor seating but if you can try your hardest to sit on the outdoor patio. They offer daily specials on drinks, appetizers, and on Tuesday an all you can eat taco course! This is nice Mexican restaurant basically on the grounds of the Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa where I stayed and a Mexican food lunch was what I was feeling. They have a great location with window views of the lake. To start off with the chips were very colorful, exciting and exactly what you'd expect. However the salsa was not as tasty as I'm used to with my salsas. I added some salt and that helped but still not there. In the spirit of a Mexican lunch I got a virgin Bloody Mary ($6.00) and it is one of the best I'm had - just look at the picture of it. For lunch I got 2 cheese enchiladas ($14.95) that came with rice & beans and they were pretty good. The real show stopper was the in-house made flan! ($6.95) Not only was it delicious but this was the most beautiful presentation of flan that I've ever seen. This was probably the worst Mexican food I've ever had. I ordered carne asada tacos and got wet lettuce. There was barely any meat in the tacos. They were pulled high with washed soaking wet lettuce and bland tomatoes. The tortillas were drenched in oil. I feel like they soaked them in hot oil to heat them but were icy cold by the time they reached the table. My plate had a river of water and oil. The staff was nice for the most part but seemed upset because we didn't enjoy the nasty food. At this point we didn't order anything else, don't want spit in my food. I would not recommend the food to anyone. The restaurant is obviously beautiful and in such a prime location. Sooo much potential failed. read more

Sonrisa Grill was the first restaurant we ate at in the village when arriving for our Lake Las Vegas getaway, and our experience here set a perfect tone for the rest of our stay. The food had all the traditional Mexican flavors we love, including spicy salsa, wholesome tortillas and beans, and flavorful meats. The basket of three types of tortilla chips started the meal off with a five star expectation. And the cantina salsa paired beautifully with them. Sonrisa makes you feel like you're walking right into a traditional atmospheric Mexican restaurant that you'll find in Mexico, right when you walk in the door. Our server Edna greeted us immediately, and was attentive, personable, and friendly throughout. The bell hanging on the side of the front door was a nice touch with a sign to ring it for receiving excellent service. Needless to say, we rang the bell upon leaving. Extremely inconsiderate staff when it comes to customer service. They are the only restaurant in the village and one of a few in the valley that doesn't allow dogs on their patio. Even 5 star restaurants on the strip allow dogs. Especially small lap dogs. Other than that it's a nice restaurant but loses out on so many more customers that would go there if they just realized how many locals have and bring their small dogs with them. It is your typical Americanized Mexican food, which definitely isn't a fault against Sonrisa Grill, it just is what it is. I would come here for a nice meal and some fresh chips and salsa but nothing too authentic. The food here is a good size so after plenty of chips, a margarita, and your main, you will have to waddle some calories off around Lake Las Vegas. When I last came here I got a coconut margarita and a smothered pork burrito, both of which definitely did the trick for me that Saturday afternoon! read more

We were attending a Dance Competition over the past weekend- Jan14, 2026 on Valentine's Day. I felt really bad for the staff at every restaurant and vendor since it was quite obvious that the communication between the Venue at the Hilton did not notify any of the local surrounding businesses that this huge competition was going on over the weekend. The businesses were not anticipating this event and were totally understaffed. Elissa Kehoe, the new general manger at Sonrisa Grill went over and beyond to see to our needs. She had her whole staff working tables, not just the servers. They all pitched in and were polite and smiled while doing more than their jobs Elissa was very accomodating and proficient. I just wanted to commend her and her staff that were there (even under the circumstances) made effort to see to their customers needs. Kudos to you Elissa! Stopped by with a party of 8. Seated quickly for a late lunch on a Monday afternoon. I didn't have high expectations but was very pleased with the quality of their foods. We had a Carne Asada Salad , Shrimp Cocktail, Tuna Tartare, Chicken Fajitas, and the three of the kids meals. The soup had avocado and sourcream in it. My kids loved their kids meal. The chicken tenders were surprisingly well done as well. I ordered the house margarita with the coupon I unlocked. It's worth $4.50 (total discount) and it was pretty good for that price. When the salsa and chips are great the rest of the food is even more delicious. I purchased the chimichanga that was packed with cheddar cheese and shredded Chicken and smothered enchilada style in red and green sauce! It truly was amazing and words can not describe the taste of cilantro, green peppers mixed with sour cream and avocado! The outside sitting area over looking the lake and perfect temperature made an amazing day date. I can only imagine what the night time atmosphere looks and feels like! We went to Sonrisa Grill at Lake Las Vegas this evening for the all you can eat Taco Tuesday. They did not disappoint. They offer chicken, beef or pork tacos for $14.95 and carne asada or shrimp tacos for $18.95. We are pescatarians so hubby opted for the all you can eat shrimp tacos. They came with shrimp, lettuce and cheese on corn tortillas. We have had all you can eat at other establishments and were disappointed by the way they give you one or two tacos at a time and take forever to bring more. Here at Sonrisa Grill, they simply ask you how many you want to start with. My husband said four and our server Cinthia, who was excellent by the way, told him they normally start folks out with five! As soon as he was done with his first plate Cinthia came by and asked if he wanted two more? Of course he wanted two more! They came out right away and he was stuffed, could eat no more. Obviously no sharing is allowed, and the menu stated that if you want to take some to go you would be charged per taco. The tortillas were perfectly crisp, not greasy, and they were stuffed with just the right amount of ingredients. We were given complimentary chips and salsa, and I thought the salsa was great with just the right amount of spiciness. Hubby added some to his tacos. I selected the combo plate #1 that included a cheese enchilada, a shrimp taco, lettuce, rice and beans for $16.95 (includes an additional $2 charge for shrimp). It was very good. Since we started with a tasty open faced quesadilla I could not finish my plate, but I sure did grab a to go container and will be finishing the rest tomorrow. Refills on soda and iced tea are free which was a welcome surprise since not much comes free these days. We sat outside on the patio which was nice. There is a view of the lake from the patio but it was dark so we could not see it very well. We got a little cold outside, but they do have heaters near the tables that you can turn on if you like. Overall we had a great experience this evening and enjoyed ourselves and the food. Tip - we parked in the garage at the Hilton for free, and walked over to Sonrisa Grill. The parking lot and courtyard were completely dead, it looked like everything was closed, until we entered Sonrisa Grill which was packed with plenty of happy patrons.
