The saga continues. In April of 2017 (see review) I had Sonrise do some work which I explained in my previous review. During that service I also had them perform routine A/C maintenance which includes removing the A/C cover, cleaning and changing the filters. Since it was April we had no need to use the A/C and frankly, I guess I should have tested it before leaving their shop but I was so upset with the way I was treated, I just wanted to get out of there. Here we are 3 months later, and the A/C was necessary. Upon trying to kick on the A/C kept blowing hot air. Since my family used to be in the home HVAC business decades ago, it sounded like the unit was building up head pressure but was not kicking on. I had no idea about RV A/C units and ended up calling a mobile mechanic (Brent from Affordable RV). Luckily Brent was able to come out the next day and inspect the A/C unit. Upon arrival, he found the A/C breaker had tripped. Upon testing discovered blower fan came on & compressor fan kicked in. Ran for ~ 10 min. & A/C shut down on its own due to high head pressure. He pulled down inner garnish of A/C unit to check all connections which were found to be good and all clean so Sonrise did that properly. Then he went on the roof and removed the exterior hood to A/C unit. Very clean inside but found that the compressor fan was not freely rotating due to "goop build up". He had to apply lubricant and manually rotate the fan until it smoothly rotated without restriction. Then he restarted A/C unit and allowed to run for ~ 15 min and the compressor no longer shut down. He then checked for the cooling delta which was about 27°-28° which is excellent. He also found that the A/C was running (pulling) 10 amps with the exterior hood off & only 8 amps with the exterior hood on. This is very good. So, all in all, this should not have happened 3 months after getting A/C serviced. Evidently, Sonrise did clean the inside and replace the filters, but they failed to test it and clean and lubricate the compressor fan causing me to pay another $175 to have a mobile mechanic travel to the location and spend 2 hours diagnosing and fixing something that should have been fixed when Sonrise charged me $120+ for the A/C service. That's just not right. read more

My RV developed a water leak that was shorting out an electrical outlet. I was traveling through San Diego and stopped at an RV park in Escondido. Tried a mobile service, but he was too busy to help us right away. Called Sonrise and J.R. told me he could schedule me for next week. When I explained what was wrong and how I was just in town for a few days, he told me to bring it over after his workers returned from lunch at 11:30. Two hours later it was fixed and I was back on the road. I've never met nicer people than the employees at Sonrise nor any who were willing to stop everything to help out a stranger who wouldn't be back. Wish I had an RV repair near my home in Santa Fe, NM with good people who lived this way. My hats off to J.R. and his crew. Well done, oh good and faithful servant!! read more

The "new" owner (unfortunately the original owner his father passed away) took on the business and it's obvious he's got WAY too much on his proverbial plate. He may indeed be a wealth of knowledge when it comes to RV's, but his grough "know it all" attitude with customers (and employees!) quickly wears thin. Too bad since a good RV service center is getting harder & harder to find. read more

The bedroom molding in our Rv looked kinda saggy, and during my examination I POKED A HOLE IN IT.........LEAK!!! Sonrise fixed it like new, even matching the wallpaper in our 2013 RV. The price was reasonable and they know what they are doing. Very happy with their service! read more

I have taken my trailer to Sonrise for repairs on two occasions and have been very happy with the way I was treated and the quality of the work done. On a recent visit I had a new converter installed and the control panel replaced on my dometic refrigerator as it would work on propane but not on the AC mode. The next time I used my trailer the refer still did not work in the AC mode so I took the trailer back to Sonrise. They promptly discovered that a fuse was bad and replaced it at no charge! (I even offered to split the cost with them as it may have occurred when I plugged it in.) I find this kind of customer service to be very unusual these days and I will definitely recommend Sonrise to my friends. read more

Don't waste your time this guy. No customer service skills. You'll have to listen to how smart he is. Tells you he's been doing it for 50 years; apparently he started fixing rv's when he was a toddler. Has no clue in the pricing of used rv's. He'll do endless pre purchase inspections and waste sellers time. read more

I read the reviews, both good & bad, before taking my 2018 coach to Sonrise. I hope my review will help prospective new customers. Don Sr. seems to be a truly good person. I sent him a "thank you" for his courtesy and kindness. His son, JR, however is another story. The day I dropped off my coach JR's first words to me were snarky regarding my WDH. I was explaining to his techs how the hitch is supposed to be adjusted. I had researched it and the videos put out by the manufacturer, E2 Fastway. JR said, "that is your problem, going on the internet." I told him it was by the manufacturer of the WDH and one would figure they know their own product. His response was "oh" and scurried off. Everything was working properly on my coach when I brought it in (lights, frig., converter, slide, tongue jack, etc.). I wanted things like the battery load tested (3 years old), brakes, bearings, roof, etc. checked as I plan a long trip. After about 10 days JR called telling me my battery is bad (only 3 v), my converter is bad (only putting out 3 v) and my gas lines not holding pressure. I said a bad 4 letter word beginning with "f" and JR said he likes that word. I said the converter/battery were working the night before I brought the coach in. JR's response, "things are always working before they are not." The battery worked fine on the day of drop off to raise/lower coach to unhook. Curious? I was told $560.00 to R&R converter and $200.00 for battery. I declined the work. VERY glad I did. The WFCO 8955 converter on Amazon is $160.00. WFCO has excellent videos on converters. 5 wires that even this old lady could do. In my research I learned that most converters have 40 amp "reverse polarity" fuses that will blow if the battery is hooked up backwards preventing damage. Manual says check those first. When I asked about these fuses Mark said he had never heard of them, curious for a shop in business so many years. I contacted WFCO tech support who were great help. I contacted the master electrician that installed all of my solar w/battery backup. He is an expert in electrical, solar and battery power and could install the converter in less than an hour at an hourly rate far less than $140.00/hr. JR quoted 2 hrs. labor. I authorized the work on the gas lines. $210.00 (1.5 hrs. labor) to tighten 2 fittings. Now I really question if there was a problem. I picked up my coach on April 8, 2021. They had a charger on the battery to "hopefully get the tongue jack to work" according to JR. As I began backing up to the coach JR launched another snarky remark about backing up and "why" his guy was even letting me do it. I just looked at him and kept on backing without any problems. I have had my class A commercial license since 1981 & drove commercially for nearly 38 years! I took the coach for new tires, short distance. There I used my multimeter to check the "bad" battery. It was at 12.47 v, full is 13.7v. Drove home, 30-35 miles of my truck charging the battery. Once home I again checked the battery. I also unhooked the electrical connection from my truck. It was at 12.51 v. Curious for a "bad" battery? I plugged in to my shore power. The "bad" converter started working immediately so I monitored the battery for the next several hours, 12.55, 12.57, 13.01, 13.69. Pretty amazing for a "bad" converter putting out only 3 v. I pulled the cover off the converter and got video testing the lugs that deliver power from the A/C side to the DC side with my multimeter, 13.69 volts. The tech, Ed, wrote only 3 v. Why? I had asked to speak with Ed the day of pickup and told he does not speak with customers, RED FLAG! I do not know "if" there is even an Ed there. I never met anyone named Ed. I met most of the people at there (Mark, Don Sr., JR, Steve, George but no Ed). The next day I pulled the "bad" battery and took it to a strictly battery business to have it load tested. No charge. Sonrise charged me $70 for the load test & $70 to diagnose the converter. The battery tested good under load. I got a print out. Armed with evidence the battery was good and video of the converter charging the battery I went to Sonrise. I asked to speak with JR as he is he owner and should be responsible for every aspect of the business. Mark told me that JR told him, "she does not like me, you deal with her." JR is not man enough to face the senior citizen he tried to scam. Were my gas lines bad or just more of a scam? How many more have been scammed and don't realize it? "Thou shalt not steal" is one of the 10 commandments. Shame on you JR. Learn to man-up! read more

They say that they're religous and godly, but they cheat you and act dumb. Complete rip off. The staff offers horrible customer service and there is no communication between them. There was grease all over the interior of our long ovverdue RV, and dirt from the mechanics- they did not even clean up their mess! Left the parts aside for us to put back ourself. They even left the sunvent open while it rained and didnt clean up the dirt or debris. They fixed the little things but didn't even adress the main reason we brought our RV to them. I suggest looking elsewhere. read more

These guys really have some sub-par technicians working there that do really shoddy work and they generally have a bad attidude. I think they bump the bible stuff a little too much and are not very Christian in the way they conduct business either: don't fall for it if you are a believer or an atheist. They did some wiring for me left it all dangling under my RV unprotected, not in wiring loom or even zip tied. That is is not the way the lord intended it or the way any of these guys would do it on their own coach. Just plain lazy work. When I complained about the crap wiring job they charged me a pretty penny for, they were surprised I was complaining. I asked the owner if he would want it done like that on his coach....hmmmm ...they fixed it. Do unto others (especially when you are charging them money) as you would .........well you know saying. I had them install a propane fitting they never could bother to tighten up: I am glad my family did not burn up or blow up in my coach with the leaking propane. Not the way anyone would install this item. The owner was incredulous and gave me back my money and asked me never to come back again. Well I was not going to come back anyway: I would not trust these chuckle-heads to fill my water spigot. One good note I have to say about them is they have a pretty good parts department and nice selection of handouts about Jesus. read more

I have a small pop up coleman tent trailer. There were electrical problems that another company couldn't identify. JR knew in minutes what was wrong and had the part in stock. He also told me that I had brake assist capability between my SUV and the camper. He then modified my braking system to make the towing safer and legal. On another occasion, I had a blown fuse. He replaced it at no charge. JR is a great guy and provides honest and excellent service. I highly recommend this company. TE read more

Don, the owner, is awesome. I have had my vehicle in there three times and got exceptional service at a reasonable price and very timely. If someone answers the phone and is a little direct, it is Don's son, "JR". He has a dry sense of humor with a little a certain amount of sarcasm thrown in. He is really a nice guy, but doesn't warm up to people immediately. He knows his stuff and will take care of your problem. He is extremely knowledgeable. The technicians do excellent work and always leave things in like new condition. All of the guys in the parts department are friendly and helpful. I have been here 3 times and wouldn't take my vehicle anywhere else. I recommend them to my friends. read more

Sonrise RV has always had what I needed but the best thing about them is when I call or go in, JR will always spend any amount of time figuring out problems. I even arranged for an appointment to bring my motorhome in for an electrical problem, and when JR came out to take a look, he found it right away and didn't charge me. JR is the best!! read more

We took our RV to Sonrise for some repairs, we had made a punch list for the technician. When the technician and I went over the punch list I explained the problem we were having with the item and he asked questions and wrote the item on a work order. We gave them about 2 weeks to do the repairs since it was close to a holiday. We waited to hear from Sonrise and after over a week with no word on an estimate I called. The service writer that answered the phone was less than courteous and I was told they were still working on an estimate. Finally the next day we got a call. Now this business touts they are a "Christian" business, everything is about the Lord, Well I know my 10 Commandements and one of those is "Thou shalt not steal". The one thing that sticks in my craw is we asked to have new mud flaps put on the front of our RV. The estimate came back at $500 to replace the 2 front mud flaps! This was because Fleetwood doesn't make them for the older RV's anymore and they would have to order the material and it would have to be "Custom" cut and installed. The mud flaps are 24" X 30". I called "RICH'S TRAILER REPAIR" and asked about mud flaps for our RV..I was told a standard mud flap is 24" x 30" and the cost would be $7.00 each..so $14 and of course we would do the installation. Lets say an hour at the Sonrise $99 hr labor rate..so $114 total. For this company to tout they are "Christain" and then try to overcharge to the tune of $386 is not the Lords way of doing business. I think the "Christian " thing is to gain trust. Well I don't trust this company anymore and will definately not be taking our RV back for any reason. read more

After a very disturbing few weeks with our Class C RV where it seemed like everything was breaking at once I made a appointment at Sonrise RV. I was able to take the rig in within a few days and was told it would be there for a max of one week which was good news to me as in the past some RV dealers/repair shops have taken at least a week to call me back with a diagnosis. After being pleasantly greeted during drop off and walking the RV with a very patient gentleman who listened to my uneducated description of the problems I was on my way. I would say within a few hours I was surprised to have a call from Sonrise describing the issues going on with my rig and the estimate to repair and replace what was needed. All seemed very fair in price so of course I gave the go ahead. Unbelievably I was called the very next morning saying it was ready for pick up. A couple pretty major electrical issues were tracked down and repaired and I was back up and running in less than 48 hours! I cannot thank the guys at Sonrise enough for their incredible performance and the quick turnaround. Took six months to complete an inverter replacement, some minor damage from a flat tire and a couple of replaced awnings. It sat so long in their lot that all house and engine batteries went dead (all were less than 12 months old) and then was billed a thousand dollars to replace them again. I was out of country when it was finally finished and returned home to two harsh calls and a letter that said I should be charged for storage. Part of my repairs never were finished (key pad and keychain locks don't work) and I picked it up with a $10,000 bill and six months of dirt and dust on it. Nice guys, but never again... read more

This was several years ago but I never forgot it. They tweaked something on my RV so it wouldn't work and they'd get paid to sell me new equipment and labor. They apparently didn't think I'd go to the inner workings and find their misdeed. A few years ago I stopped by for a verbal estimate on some minor body work, and even though I never got the work done, their professionalism and very fair price made an impression on me. This time around, I needed some electrical work done. I also wanted to get the rv waxed. I remembered the great impression they made on me a few years ago, and decided to call them up. All went well. Great business! After purchasing a trailer from a very dishonorable man we have spent several hours and dollars to make our trailer safe for our family. We looked all over , talked with lots of people looking to find a shop we felt we'd be able to trust. Everyone including our insurance person speaks so highly of this business. So trustworthy that our agent never questions their finds and approves of and highly recommends them. Their honest about everything, straight forward, considerate (got me delicious coffee even though the were busy). JR is a wealth of knowledge!! Meant a lot that he was concerned for the safety of our family and keeping us free from the traffic. Found a very serious issue with the heater/ furnace. Issues with converter/batteries. Took my popup in for the breaks and my truck into have an electronic break control. My truck had an electronic ignition issue not related to the breaks but that did not show up till I brought it in. They took the time to get me on the road after close of business and diagnosed the issue for me. 10 dollars at the automotive store on my way home and my truck was running great again. These guys are good fair people. I would recommend them. JR is excellent and the technician who worked late was very good pointing out the ignition issue and taking the time to prove it to myself being skeptical. read more

Sonrise RV is fantastic, they have saved me on numerous occasions. They are always busy, but they make time to help you and get you on your way. JR is awesome, very knowledgeable and goes out of his way to make sure you have a great experience. Most recently my Norcold refrig was acting up again, of course the night before we were leaving on a weekend trip. I called Sonrise right when they opened 8am, Mark said no problem bring it in. When I got there they were of course busy, but they moved RV's around and got me right in. I got a call at 9:30 saying they found and fixed the problem, ready to pick up. Unbelievable!!! So so thankful to have a working refrig for our trip and only had an hour setback. And to make things even better, the part was a warranty/recall part, so the work and part was FREE!!
