If I could give zero stars, I would. We went in with a specific cake design in hand. Knowing the cake we were asking for was challenging we decided to consult with them first. They ENSURED they would be able to replicate this cake and because of this we did not hesitate to make the payment. We even sent in additional photographs because they said they wanted to make sure they got the detail. "If we need to make any changes we will consult with you first." That is what my family was told. We paid for delivery because we expected a grandiose cake. What we received was FAR from it. No one called and consulted about the changes, the "cake" looked like someone tried to complete it an hour before delivery. It was a mess! Our dinosaur looked NOTHING like one! What a disappointment!! DO NOT ORDER CAKES FROM THIS BAKERY! After Soonja and her assistant tried and failed to put the cake together at the party for over half an hour even I could tell they were ashamed of their lousy job. I came in with my brother to order a custom cake for his surprise engagement moment to his girlfriend. Our friends had recommended Soonja and her team after getting 2 other custom cakes that they were extremely pleased with. We came in 3 days before the event to order a cake with a fondant Tiffany's ring box with a Ring Pop placed in the middle of it and it was at a cost that we we expecting. On the afternoon of the event, I came in and the cake was finished and ready to go... Everything looked beautiful. All of the other customer in the store waiting to pick up their cakes were super impressed as well. I paid, put it in my car, and somehow on the 2 minute drive home managed to mess up the cake with my driving (since I didn't put it perfectly flat on my backseat). I came back with my roommate and asking her team to just touch it up so it looked just decent. Instead (without mentioning this to me) Soonja called in 2 additional employees to help and within 5 minutes they came in and completely remade my cake in 45 minutes. I was expecting a 2 minute touch up... I ended up getting my cake made twice. And all of this at no charge because Soonja was so keen on making sure her customers were satisfied. She even gave us free slices of cake while we waited for the cake to new remade. I was so impressed not only by the cake... but even more so by the importance of customer service by her and her team. I will be coming back for more cakes from Soonja's for sure. read more

This review is for cupcakes only- I would not recommend their cupcakes as I prefer a much stronger frosting-to-cupcake ratio. Had to pay for extra frosting but that was no big deal. The density of their cupcakes was more like a traditional cake and the frosting was a bit too heavy and sweet for even this sugar-fiend. However, the service was friendly and I'm sure their cakes are delicious! The cupcakes were extremely well-priced. Flavor selection was a little disappointing. Very overdue review! I have ordered from Soonja's Bakery almost every cake for all major events in my family. You will see me here a lot of morning during the week buying donuts for my clients when on job site visits. It takes one bad experience at another establishment (Meringue Bakery-Farmers Branch) to know how good I've had it with Soonja (feel free to read my very poor review on the other bakery)...the only reason I went there is bc of one good experience years ago. Soonja took my custom made (8" & 6") order, rushed my order in as I went to her on Thursday for a Saturday pick up and paid in full. My whole experience took about 25min and left with a free topper and a very happy customer. I now live in Richardson, the drive to Soonja's is worth it, customer service is exceptional and most importantly, quality of the cakes, donuts etc is supreme! Thank you Soonja and staff. read more

Terrible customer service. I was told they could make a cake for my son's first birthday. I sent a picture of the cake I wanted and was given a quote. I accepted the quote and asked if they needed a deposit for the cake. I never heard back. I called two days later and was asked to send a picture of the cake again. I was then told they didn't have time to make it. When I told the gentleman that I was already told they could make it, he said the lady I spoke to quit that day, so now they don't have time. There wedding cake designs are amazing. They have a variety of designs we liked. There prices are good, not too expensive compare to other places. They do not charge by number of servings, only by size of the cake and design. Which is good and less expensive for someone. We did enjoy the experience, Mrs Soonja is a very sweet lady. The only bad thing was the cakettasting. We did cake tasting and they serve them to you in cup cakes and I believe they were to dry. There bread is dry and so you don't get much of its taste. read more

This review is only for their kolaches / sausage rolls. Easily 5 stars. The "kolaches" or klobasneks are more of just a sausage roll, as the bread isn't the semi-sweet bread that kolaches are. Either way, it's delicious. The bread is very soft and easy to eat. The sausage is money (taste, not expensive). For $1.99 for a jumbo, it's a cheap and easy breakfast or snack option. The jalapeno ones are the perfect amount of spice in the morning, something that won't make you suffer all day. read more

If I'm early to work or I just feel like being an awesome co-worker this is where I stop to get donuts and kolaches (err really sausages wrapped in a crescent like dough, but whatever because they are yummy!). The staff is always super nice and sometimes they give me a few extra donut holes for free because I've bought a ton of stuff for my lucky coworkers. Got my 30th birthday cake from here- and it was DELICIOUS!! My twin sister and I had a photo cake made, and it was easy. You create the photos and send it through email and they make the cake. The staff was very friendly on the phone, took my order on a Tuesday for a party on Saturday. It was a little pricey but worth it! We had the marble cake with vanilla icing and it was so moist and had lots of flavor. I've passed by this place several times and decide to stop on my sister's birthday. The service was excellent and you can't beat $1.50 for cake pops and cupcakes. I just have to leave this place a review! First off, I had a hard time finding a place to create a special birthday cake for my husband's surprise birthday party. After several phone calls and rejections, I stumbled upon this place. Not only were they super friendly, confident that they could create the cake I was looking for, and very accommodating by being flexible in time (I had to pick up the cake several hours early from the original scheduled time), but most importantly they created a damn masterpiece! They did everything right and I am so grateful, the cake was a hit! My guest, wait staff and complete strangers could not stop taking pictures of it! I have always loved Soonja's bakery for cakes. I was disappointed today in the service. I ran in there today for a last minute birthday cake. The manager came out to assist me. There were no customers inside and it's 11:45 am. I asked for a pre-made cake. It was smaller than I wanted but I decided I would get it anyway. I asked could they write happy birthday on it and he said no, they don't have time. I looked around at the zero customers in there but me. He is standing there with his hands in his pockets. I was asked to order a sheet cake from a bakery for an anniversary celebration at my job. After looking around on Yelp for places in the Addison area, I decided on this one because of the reviews and it didn't let me down. We ordered bright red and deep black icing around the edges of the white cake, two colors that are very hard to manage well, and they did a superb job. The marble cake was very sweet and moist. Used to be so good. Then around a year ago, it just all went downhill. They never have enough of any of their unique breakfast foods but always have enough donut holes to feed a village. The front girl doesn't seem to know much about how to sell food. The breading of the pigs in a blanket aren't even the same. It's just regular breading like any other donut shop does. I've had two cakes made here. The first cake was wonderful, but the seond cake was terrible. Quality is inconsistent. The second cake they made for me was late. We had to go back three times, they rushed the cake and it showed. The lettering on the cake was not evenly placed on the cake, they were different sizes, and were not centered. They even put a letter backwards!!! As I was slicing the cake, I put my finger on the slice to hold it steady and half my finger went into the cake because it was half frosting in parts. I think they cut too much of the cake as they were shaping it and filled it with frosting. The decorations weren't exactly how we wanted. Bottom layer was supposed to be silver and they made it white. When you pay a premium for a cake for a once in a lifetime occasion, you expect it to be perfect. What we got was basically nothing better than a grocery store bakery cake at 10 times the price. Very disappointed in my experience. I gave them two stars only because our first experience with Soonja was very good but I won't be returning based on the second experience. It was embarrassing and made for a bad memory on what was supposed to be a happy occasion. read more
