A rotary sushi place located off the beaten path! We wanted to switch it up from our usual Kura trips and were glad we did. We had so much fun and the staff was incredibly nice! We had a great time last night at Sooshi Bay! We used to have to drive all the way to Chicago for conveyor belt sushi so this was wonderful! My favorite piece I tried was the salmon sandwich! UPDATE 7/5/24: Well, unfortunately I recently had my first disappointing Sooshibay experience. Got seemingly forgotten about twice during my meal, didn't get my drink until I was four plates in (and I am not a fast eater), and similarly to what a few other reviews here have stated, the sushi on this visit was falling apart as soon as it hit the soy sauce. On top of all that, for lack of a nicer way of putting it, they seem to now be lawyering their way out of what constitutes a stamp-worthy visit on their loyalty cards and I wouldn't be surprised if the birthday prize wheel goes away soon. The prices are still great for what it is and the ambiance is better than would be expected for a sushi joint in Kenosha, but I can't go higher than 3 and don't think I'll be back for a while. read more

Sooshibay has been on my list to try for awhile now, mainly excited to see the conveyor belt sushi in action. You can choose to sit at the conveyor or at a standard table. We wanted to sit at the conveyor so we had a little wait, as we were waiting we noticed other groups that arrived after us getting seated. They ended up forgetting to give us a buzzer, and we were seated after we asked about it. We were seated at the bar conveyor area, rather then a booth. From where we were seated, you could see into the kitchen, and watch them prepare the sushi. You can order anything off the menu as well as the conveyor. Some of the food comes out on a higher conveyor, straight to your seat. We got miso soup and sushi from the belt. There were plenty of options on the belt ranging from $2.50 to $6.50, some of our favorites were the fiesta roll and the spicy tuna roll. The belt included wasabi and ginger, seaweed salad, crepe cakes. and nigiri. You get about four pieces of sushi per plate, about half a roll, so it allows you to try a variety of sushi without committing to a whole roll. We enjoyed the experience and it was fun to grab items off the belt, but most of the sushi we tried wasnt that impressive in flavor. I don't know if they rotate the options on the belt, but it would be cool to see some other signature rolls to try. read more

I've been to conveyor belt sushi places in the Chicago burbs so was happy to have one in ktown! This.place is big, with lots of seats and booths facing the conveyor belt. There's lots of items coming down the belt and little pictures introduce what the upcoming dish is. There variety was pretty good. The way this place works is the price (ranging from $2.49 to $7) is noted by plate color. The server counts your plates at the end of the meal and charges you accordingly. There's also a menu you can order off of - kind of fun fact is your table has a number and letter (ie we were D4) and when tbe kitchen sends your food it comes sliding out on a conveyor belt above the main belt with your table number on it, and stops at your table. For birthdays/holidays you get to spin a wheel and get a discount (we got 15% off our bill) Only complaint? No mochi or taiyaki on our visit. My favorite roll was the steak roll. Some other notable good ones were one with spam and the Mexican roll. I did not care for the beef kabobs, they were very chewy. Definitely recommend checking my this spot out, but if you are looking for the best/most fresh sushi, this isn't the spot. It's more of a novelty. Sooshibay has entered into Kenosha's sushi scene - a daunting feat because we are a small a town with deep loyalties to a few other established sushi restaurants. We were glad to pull up a seat up to Sooshibay's conveyor belt, because that is the fun of this establishment - a unique Tokyo style experience. Sooshibay offers the conveyor-belt style serving format that originated in Tokyo and a rare to find outside of Chicago. The sushi conveyor zigs in and out between 3 peninsulas of seating areas - varying from booth to bar seating. Our family of 4 sat bar style facing the conveyor - our teens are avid sushi goers and it was easier to have them pick their own. Note: if you much younger kids, you may want a booth with parents sitting alongside conveyor. Cost is based on the color plates and is clearly displayed where you sit. Having said that, it's easy to lose track because everything looks so good, there is a large variety and even though there is more than enough to go around there is sense of urgency I could see some having on a first visit to grab things quick and often. The Salmon Sandwich (shown) was bland and reminded me of a Japanese take on an English Tea sandwich. The triangular-cut Tokyo Sandwich was flavorful stuffed with spicy crab. Both were on the higher price point and one plate could fill one person up - therefore make a game plan to share! Sharing is great approach - this way nothing is wasted and you get to a greater variety. There was traditional California Roll but we were more adventurous tonight. The Tako Nigiri (octopus on rice) was tender and fresh. My husband loved the rare steak nigiri 2 on a plate and he ate 2 plates. There were also vegan/all vegetable rolls as well. I would have liked to see some more veggie or egg options like Tamago (sweet egg) Nigiri and Futomaki but I believe those can be ordered from the menu. We were there on their second opening night. It was busy and new/young staff are learning but brought what we needed when we asked (chop sticks, mini soy sauce bowl, napkins, etc). No hot or cold tea but organs that will be added later. The atmosphere has a cool vibe, great music and great for a healthy quick bite/work lunch, fun girls night out, and fun for couples and families. We are looking forward to coming back and exploring the menu beyond the conveyor belt. Service will work any kinks out - we went on their second night and gave benefit of the doubt. While I still hold dear to a 20 year-old sushi establishment in our town, Sooshibay has brought a little bit of Tokyo to our town and a welcomed addition to the sushi scene. read more

There was awesome variety if rolls and squid salads on the conveyor line (like the Salmon Sandwich and a steak roll). My wife and I are HUGE sushi fans. We've gone to many other sushi places that have the conveyor belt and we love them. They're incredibly fun. This was our 1st time at Sooshibay. I believe it recently opened within the last year. We showed up on a Friday and had a short wait and were able to be seated. There definitely could be more parking outside but we were able to find a parking spot. The hostess was very friendly. The atmosphere was energetic and fun. As soon as we were seated we began to grab away at the food belt. The plates are colored and have a price list. You can also order from a menu as well. They have seats by the food belts and seats away from the belt at a normal table. We tried many different sushi rolls and were not disappointed. We ordered calamari as well. The calamari was not the best that I've had. It was not terrible and I had no problem finishing it. I ordered an old fashioned that was very well made. We ate away until we were able to eat no more. We decided to top it off with dessert, a slice of cheesecake. The one negative experience of the night. The slice of cheese cake was nearly frozen solid. I stuck my fork in it as youll see in my photos, and there was barely any penetration. I don't blame our waiter. I also was not under the illusion that the cheese cake was fresh made. I would have liked someone in the kitchen to have let it thaw out though. Even with that hiccup I'd still return. The waiter did remove the item from our check. I did think maybe a comp or credit would have been appreciated a bit more. All in all it was still a positive experience and fun dinner. It wasn't cheap but it also didn't break the bank. read more
