    Assorted Donuts (Part 1)
    Ian A.

I had a lovely experience at Sophe's Donuts (Covina). I ordered the Sugar Donut ($1.95). To my astonishment, it's absurdly delicious. Its bread almost melts away as I bit down. The sugar is crackly & overflowing. It's a fresh, flavorful donut. I didn't expect to taste one of the best donuts that I've ever had in such a hidden, poor visibility spot... (Important: Bring Cash. There's an about 4% added fee for card payments.) I arrived at Sophe's Donuts (Covina) on a weekday (around 6:06AM). Parking is surprisingly bigger than expected. The lot looked slightly extended to fit more customer cars; I easily found parking. This business is across the street from Ray's Tepeyac Restaurant. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Staff greeted me with a smile, and Staff politely answered all my questions. Staff is hardworking and respectful. There was a small line of customers, and I was helped very quickly & attentively. On ambiance, Sophe's Donuts (Covina) looks well-cared and clean. There's no customer restroom, but I appreciated the big container of hand sanitized. There's a couple of tables, and I appreciated the light music and playing television. It's fairly clean, but some tables are understandably a little sticky. The interior was also a bit warm, but it worked since the morning air was a bit chilly. Overall, I am very happy to have visited Sophe's Donuts (Covina). As a local Covina resident, I never expected such a wonderful business to be hidden in plain sight. 4.9 out of 5

Found this place by accident. I took my car to get serviced across the street and was looking for coffee since I have to wait few hours. I said sure why not, got myself coffee and ended up getting the croissant with egg, cheese, and sausage. It was actually amazing. The lady working there was nice. I'll definitely come back next time and try their donuts .

Bacon egg and cheese croissant. Delicious!

I was in the area and I decided to stop by before a job interview and WOW! I was greeted by the owner, Vanessa. She was so welcoming and friendly. The shop was clean. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese croissant, plain cake donut, & coffee. The coffee was great and the croissant was delicious! I highly recommend anyone in the area to stop by for great food and coffee. Thank you Vanessa for making my visit such a great experience. I'll definitely be back.

Sophe's Donuts is located in a little plaza on a busy street. There are tables and a counter that are available for customers. It's a pretty no-nonsense spot for a quick pick up for breakfast. The pastries are all freshly made daily, my favorite being their jelly donuts because they fill it up according to your specifications. Their breakfast sandwiches are sleeper faves, and they're filling and also hot!

    Chicken sandwich

Great donut shop! I have tried the donuts, croissants, sandwiches, and coffee and nothing has disappointed. Everything tastes great and fresh. The customer service is also always amazing! Such a friendly yummy place, definitely recommend!

One of my favorite donut shops in Covina. It's always a really great experience. The donuts and breakfast sandwiches are so good. I think they have one of the best apple fritters in the area (crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, not too sweet and love the chunks of apples in it). They're also well known for their breakfast sandwiches which are always fresh and made to order. The woman behind the counter is always so nice and extremely friendly. This place definitely has its regulars because she already knows what their order is as soon as they come in. Overall, this place is great. It's clean and modern in the shop, yet has that mom and pop feel still. Parking is super easy and it's busy, but you never really have to wait long.

This place was amazing!! The service was fantastic and the donuts were so soft and tasty. I highly recommend getting their tiger tail and the normal glazed donut!!

The new chicken breast sandwich at Sophie's Doughnuts is mouth watering. The flavor it has is amazing! I am already a fan of the bagel bacon sandwich and after trying this sandwich and being a chicken & avocado lover, I have gained love for yet another one of Vanessa's sandwiches.

I read great reviews on their famous ham jalapeno and cheese croissants plus donuts and cinnamon sugar croissants. I knew I had to swing by to snatch some of that goodness. Didn't want any FOMO in my system LOL. Got here around 9:00 AM. Shop is small with a few tables and chairs. Place was clean. Back area used for storage of inventory. Not too many customers at the time. I probably missed the morning rush. Btw, they only bake donuts once per day. When they run out, that's it! The young lady behind the counter was sweet and friendly. I think her Mom and Dad were in the back helping in the kitchen. Donut selection was pretty standard with raised and cake options. They didn't have a lot left so I just got what they had... alot of twists and rounds! My Order: 3 dozens donuts 1 dozen cinnamon sugar croissants 2 ham jalapeno and cheese croissants Here's my take on the baked goods... Their glazed twist was good, but needs a bit more glaze on top. Chocolate twist had the perfect amount of chocolate on top. Crumble cake donut was very moist and tasty. I preferred it over the crumble raised donut which is a surprise to me because I'm usually for the raised more so than the cake. The highlight was the cinnamon sugar croissants. They were SO GOOD! Light, crispy, and soft in every bite. Tasted like churros. The ladies were so generous to throw in a few cinnamon sugar croissants in each box on the house. Thank you so much for the extra sweet treat! Ham jalapeno and cheese croissants were huge. Cheesy inside with not so hot jalapenos plus delicious ham slices. Croissant was super light and flaky. I enjoyed it, but there was something slightly off with the taste. I can't pinpoint it. If you haven't given Munchkin's a try yet, now is the time to get you some tasty baked goods. Make sure to come early before they sell out! Enjoy your Munchkin's! Btw, there is a credit card service charge so bring CASH if you want to save a little moola.

There's a medium-sized lot for customers Staff is professional and respectful. Staff quickly helped me, and Staff answered my questions. Regarding ambiance, Cafe Donuts (West Covina) is perhaps one of the BEST. It's the rare donut shop that doesn't look frugal or like a convenience store. Rather, the interior is very shiny and well-decorated. The location is clean, well-ventilated, and comfortable. It's also the rare donut shop that had high-chairs for children. I also liked how napkins and hand sanitizer were plentiful on every table. Overall, Cafe Donuts (West Covina) is a great experience. The prices are slightly more pricey compared to other donut spots, but the quality and integrity easily outshines everything else. They make everything fresh daily, are family owned and operated, super hardworking and nice. I got their passion fruit green tea, croissant sando, glazed donut holes, buttermilk bar, Oreo, matcha filled, creme brulee, and tiger tail donuts to try. The passion fruit green tea was sweet, bright, fruity, had real passion fruit seeds and pulp inside but also a strong bitter green tea flave so it might not be for everyone. The croissant sando was MASSIVE and I added some smooth fatty avocado it too. The sando was filled with savory tender bacon, a juicy sausage patty, some scrambled eggs, and gooey American cheese, all on a buttery flakey croissant. Every donut was super light, fluffy, pillowy, airy, and nostalgic tasting. The donut holes had a crisp sugary glaze and so did the buttermilk bar which was more like a cake donut but still super delicate and light crumb and tasted a little Coconuty? The Oreo donut was topped with so many crunchy Oreo bits and a super sugary sweet icing. The matcha donut was covered in sugar and had a super earthy grassy fragrant whipped cream filling. The creme brulee donut had a nice crunchy sugar top and was filled with a sweet smooth cream. The tiger tail was coated with like a cinnamon almond streusel and had swirls of more cinnamon and almonds twisted in. They have this really cool deal that after 2pm if you buy a certain amount of donuts you can get some free. You order everything through a tablet, so there isn't much customer service or interaction. I also thought the add-ons were pretty pricey--around $1 for different milk, 50¢ for sugar-free options or syrups, plus extra for other customizations. My double matcha latte with almond milk, sugar-free sweetener, and lavender syrup came out to around $10. The matcha itself was actually really good! I'd give it an 8.5/10. My sister tried one of their espresso drinks and gave hers a 7.5/10. The biggest downside for me was definitely the price. I understand my substitutions add to the cost, but $10 for a standard-sized drink is a little too much for me to come back regularly. As for the atmosphere, there are some wooden seats, but it didn't really feel like a place to study or sit and catch up with friends. The back area had plants, boxes, and other items, so it definitely gave me more of a get your drink and go vibe. Overall, the matcha was delicious, but between the pricing, extra charges, and limited atmosphere, I probably wouldn't return. Worth trying once if you're curious though!
