I've been coming to Bakery Covina, I love the vibe inside. Unfortunately my most recent visit left a bad impression. The issue wasn't with the food--it was with the cashier's attitude. I ordered my usual bagel with egg, tomato, and double mayo. When I received it, the tomato had been cooked with the egg. At every other bagel shop I've been to, those ingredients are prepared separately unless requested otherwise. When I mentioned that it wasn't what I wanted, the response I got was simply, "That's how I do it," which came across as dismissive rather than helpful. I also specifically requested my bagel be well done. It appeared the sandwich was about to be served without being run through the toaster a second time, and I had to remind her. What really stood out was when I asked for a plastic container so I wouldn't make a mess while eating. The cashier said she had to ask the boss if it was okay, even though the customer before me had been given one without any issue. It felt inconsistent and unnecessary. Overall, it seemed like she didn't want to be there, and that attitude affected the entire experience. Customer service matters, especially for repeat customers. I've enjoyed coming here in the past, but this interaction has me questioning whether I want to return. Update: Unfortunately, after I posted my original review, the experience got even worse. I also ordered a second bagel--an everything bagel with double cream cheese. After starting to eat it, it was obvious that there was nowhere near double cream cheese on it. At that point, it became clear that multiple parts of my order were either misunderstood or not prepared as requested. By itself, a mistake with cream cheese wouldn't be a huge issue. We came here at 9:07 a.m. on a Friday and, as you can see from my photo, they only had about 26 bagels left with almost no variety...just poppy seed, plain, and cranberry. Been coming here for so many years, whenever I'm in the area I always stop by! The bagels are always sooo good and sell so quick. The service is nice and they get your food made so quick so you're in and out which is perfect for early mornings. And even though they're always busy it's always worth it. They usually sell out by 12 but you can always call and they will out a bagel on hold for you if you can't make it early morning. But I love my bacon, egg and cheese with cream cheese on it. So upset! I came in to get a veggie deluxe and this is what I got a tiny tomato, barely any avocado. It's just ridiculous. Usually an older Asian gentlemen makes the sandwiches to perfection. Unfortunately I got a young Mexican girl who doesn't know what she's doing. Also on their in-store menu on the wall it says $11.99 for the veggie deluxe, however, on yelp it says $13.99. This is my go-to place for bagels in Covina! They are always so fresh and soft. People always ask where I get them from when I buy them for work or my kids' school. I've been going to this place for many years and haven't seen the owner around for a while. Just found out he's been having severe health issues. My thoughts are with him and his family. A nice, young gentleman served me today and was super helpful when I wanted to preorder green bagels for upcoming St Patty's Day. Got a bagel while I was there and he recommended the veggie bagel. Honestly? This store was kind of chaos. I went on a Sunday morning at 10:20, and there was a small line. It took more than 20 minutes to place my order and receive. The two gentleman working were polite but didn't seem very organized. I ordered two toasted bagels with cream cheese, a lox bagel and two smoothies for $39 which seemed pricey. I think the lox bagel was $13.49...Einstein Bros sells the same for only $9.19. The store was out of chive cream cheese that day and only had two smoothie options available. I wouldn't have written this review except that I twice told the employee no sprouts and no onions for my lox bagel. Alas, my order was incorrect and I had to pick out both to the best of my ability. Onion haters understand that onions just contaminate food by the smell. Sigh. Some red flags that kept me from giving it four were the fact that they don't have any type of combo setup for breakfast, the fact I pulled up to the door and it was still locked at 7 when the hours say they open at 6:30, and the fact it doesn't seem to be as hopping as they once were according to other reviews. The young guy behind the counter was helping others before he completed our order. He had only cut one bagel and started helping others before finishing our order. Came in here Thursday late morning. Pretty quiet. Dude behind the counter was chill and friendly. I got a lox bagel and a rainbow with plain cream cheese for my daughter. Bagel wise this place isn't going to be described as gourmet or authentic, but it's solid and the variety of toppings was great. The lox was solid and it came with plenty of capers and microgreens. Everything was pretty fresh. The rainbow bagel was also a hit with my little one, mostly just pink, green, and yellow colors. Plain bagel in terms of flavor, but the added color made her morning. Came here to order a vanilla iced chai. Two employees working and both told me I wasn't able to order because neither of them knew how to make the drink. I was shocked because I've never been to a business where the employees don't know how to make something on the menu. They said only their boss knows how and the boss wasn't in... then why have it on the menu if it can only be ordered when the boss is in. Never had this experience anywhere ever. read more

This bagel shop is in a small business center and there was plenty of parking when I arrived. There was one worker and he made every order individually. The wait was not long and the bagel was worth it! I do wish i had some salt/pepper to add to my eggs .. i did not check before leaving if they offered any packets. There is seating inside. Let me start off by saying I come here often... well used to. I will not be coming here again. I always order my usual veggie deluxe bagel and this morning I received an overpriced bagel with just cream cheese, a slice of tomato, and sprouts to cover up the whole monstrosity! This bagel used to come with the top covered in avocado ( look at their menu pictures and how they advertise this selection ) ! Now it comes with about four tiny cut up pieces of avocado. I kid you not, I can cover the amount of avocado I received, with my two smallest fingers. I come to get this avocado bagel-- yes it's called a veggie deluxe but the main ingredient has always been the avocado. Not sure if it is an issue with training or who they are hiring. A new girl was there and she was not preparing their bagels accordingly and had no customer service skills as her response was that's how it comes. I recommend going elsewhere for your bagels. Unless you're buying plain with cream cheese, none of the meal selections are worth it. There's plenty of other locations where you won't get ripped off. This is a family owned and operated bagel shop. It's very dark and grungy inside. It's a two person show it look like the dad and a daughter working. There was a line and not much options of bagels to choose from. The gentlemen went from making drinks to slicing bagels with only one hand in a glove. It is my go to spot when I crave bagel. My top favorite is the Jalapeno bagel followed by everything bagel, but I always get half a dozen of different types of bagels. We stopped by on a Saturday around 1pm, and there wasn't as big of a selection of bagels (made fresh daily! my friend suggests to go early in the morning). There are booths inside and plenty of seating, and it felt super cozy and homey. We decided to share a BYOB and got a cinnamon sugar bagel with plain cream cheese. I was too hungry and took a bite before the camera did, but I loved both bagels. There is a HUUGE difference between store bought bagels and these. There used to be a Bagelry in San Dimas, that is long gone. I happened to see the signage on Rowkabd as I whizzed by one day. I went at 930 on a Saturday and many of the bagel selections were already gone. However, I was able to order two Build Your Own sandwiches: poppy seed with cream cheese, onion, lox and tomato( traditional NYC flavors) and my daughter asked for a bagel with the works with egg, sausage and tomato. The bagels were thick, chewy on the outside with soft interiors. They were both correctly made and satisfying for breakfast. Since it was closer to their closing time, their selection was slim, but it had just enough of the ones I wanted for me to leave happy. Frankly I wish I would have just gotten an ultimate breakfast sandwich from Jack in the Box, the eggs had no flavor and probably came out of a carton, maybe the ham sausage and eggs are pre made and delivered on a truck, then they just microwave and put it on a bagel. I had it on a works bagel and it was pretty good, so I'm not going to knock them on the actual bagels. My wife got the Atlantic thinking it was traditional bagels and lox. They used such little amounts of cream cheese and salmon that the capers and mung bean sprouts over flavored the salmon. Rather than the flavors melting together you just taste capers and bagel, again the bagel was pretty good. The place is busy so I think the locals must love it. I usually get the Gourmet Jalapeno Cheese bagel with Jalapeno cream cheese for my wife and I get either the everything bagel or the onion bagel.
