I might be a tad predictable (guess I'm there with some frequency), but that has its upsides. What an awesome place! The food, vibe and energy of this place is fantastic. I had their homemade corned beef hash and eggs. What an incredible dish! I think it's the best corned beef hash in the area if not one of the best tasting I've ever had. Will always want to come back to this place when in the area. read more

What I realized yesterday is that the people-watching is also unparalleled: Tattooed and pierced staff, musicians recovering after performances; families with adorable toddlers. As an added bonus, the fire station across Larkin Square rolled out a pumper, lights and siren, which really got the attention of the children and the young at heart! This may be the best diner in all of Buffalo. Not sugarcoating it. There is real magic when you can find a great little spot for breakfast and lunch. I met up here for lunch with a friend, and figured breakfast was still on my mind. I ended up getting the eggs, toast, homefries and sausage. You can tell a lot about a place on how they prepare a simple breakfast. Swan Street hits it out of the park. Everything was prepared right and had great flavor. Including the bread. The sourdough wasn't bland or plain, it was great! The eggs, homefries, and sausage all tasted great, and not like they had been sitting in warmers. We also got some of their mini donuts which were sweet and fried perfectly. They had a few different flavors which was nice to try something off the usual fry cake path. Recently went here for my second time and more disappointed this visit. The food was great as always so that's why they kept 4 stars. The vibe is unique so there's another plus. But the service this time was awkward. The waitress was nice when we ordered (mind you, no special requests just pancakes and the smothered burrito) but once our food came she literally ignored us.. we finished our meal and she walked by our booth 4 times and each time not even glancing our way... I've never had a waitress before walk past tables and not look over like she was ignoring everything around here. We sat there for 20 minutes before finally getting a to go box and the check... then not even friendly at that point either just here's the check thanks. It was late morning so they look like they had calmed but I guess she was having a bad day. I'd return but hoping I get a different waitress! read more

Went for a brunch meeting and I got the smothered burrito which may not look very appetizing in pictures, but was absolutely delicious! also got a glass of orange juice on the side, which was fresh squeezed and very refreshing. To go, I got some other popular mini donuts and then assorted bundle, which were a tasty treat later on to have. Went at 8:30 on a Sunday, there was a 15 min wait for 2, but we were able to immediately sit at the bar. It is a small place so it's a bit loud and there is music playing too. The place is very cute as it gives the diner feel. It did not take long at all to receive our food, maybe 10 mins. I got the French toast, which is made from the placezek bread so it is thicker and has the coating on the crust. When I got it they had put a little syrup on top with the butter, I'm not a fan of a lot of syrup so next time I would ask for them not to put it on. read more

Classic old school diner with a just-big enough menu to have a good variety of breakfast or lunch depending on what you're feeling. I had the west coast burger with sweet potato fries, and very tasty all the way around! Oh. My. God. Best breakfast I have possibly ever had. Everything we had was fantastic. Strawberry milkshake was divine, tasted like real strawberry and a large serving with the tin cup, always fun. I got a build your own omelette, perfectly solid but the potatoes were really tasty. Raspberry pancake so good, crispy edges like at Cracker Barrel. The biscuit was so so good, fluffy and huge, with homemade jam that was absolutely delicious. Companion got the tacos, could've had more cheese they said but still enjoyed it. The other had a basic breakfast, especially liked the sausage. Vibe in here is absolutely top notch, old school diner feel and the staff is so friendly and nice. Finally made it here after tons of great feedback from family and friends. It did not disappoint. First there is tons of parking!!! Love that. The fact the building is a real old train car loved that as well! We had heard they get crowded fast. A friend and I met up here at 1130 and they were packed. Upon entering we were immediately greeted, told about a ten minute wait where then they take your number to text you when table is ready. Such a beautiful day we sat outside in cool beach like chairs. The wait was not even ten minutes when we got the text our table was ready. Everyone was so nice, inviting and friendly. They run like a well oiled machine. It literally was cleared out by 1230. We went with lunch food. We started with mimosa, where you have an option of OJ, Cranberry or grapefruit juice. We went with OJ, they were good and a nice size pour. They do offer beer and wine options as well. For our meals I got the BBQ meatloaf sandwich. When I think diner my mind always goes to meatloaf, which I love. Thank God it was on the menu and it was delicious. Big piece of meatloaf covered in a bourbon BBQ sauce, onion straws and bacon in between sourdough bread! The meatloaf was very tasty, the sourdough was also soft and tasty. My friend got the fried chicken sandwhich, which he loved as well. The sandwhich comes with chips, but you do have option for fries, sweet potatoe fries, steamed veggies or upgrade for a garden salad. I went with the sweet potatoe fries, they were good, didn't get a side of dipping honey, not sure if I needed to ask or not. My friend went with regular fries. Stopped in while visiting family and would come back if in town. The service was friendly and attentive, the food was pretty good, and the atmosphere was similar to an old school cafe. At our table the corned beef hash was tasty and eggs cooked well. The hash was a little greasy but it wasn't terrible. The chicken salad was good but also pretty chunky. So if you need smaller chunks beware. Coffee was good and the server kept it filled. Overall, good experience, I enjoyed the scenery, and I look forward to visiting again. Edited: updated to 4 stars. I got to thinking when I was asked "why only 3 stars" and I didn't have a great reason. Maybe the bathrooms could use some attention but nothing to really demote things. I had heard good things about the Swan Street Diner... so we swooped in today to check it out. And guess what? All the good things were true... had an excellent lunch here!! Food was very good... I had the eggs Benedict with a side of corned beef hash... delicious!! My wife had the pesto and Mozzetta omelet which was also very good!! The service was friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. Shout out to our server Heather!! Very nice and outgoing personality made the service a pleasure! Ambiance is really cool as the restaurant is actually a diner car from the late 1930s! The restaurant's website tells a very interesting tale of the history of the diner car. Check it out! We got there at about 11:45 on a Saturday and only had to wait for about ten minutes. The place got busier as we enjoyed our meal and there was a pretty full waiting area when we left. A couple of things of note... the acoustics are not so good so we found it kind of loud inside. But I suppose that is part of the experience of being transported back in time to a busy1930's diner. Also, I have always been a tomato juice fan when having a diner breakfast, but I did not see that on the menu. They did have oj and grapefruit juice as well as mimosas. Man what an amazing place! Finally got a chance to try the local favorite swan street diner and was not disappointed! The donuts ads amazing and live to to the hype definitely need to try them all. We also tried and split the BBQ meatloaf sandwich and their eggs Benedict and everything was great especially the meatloaf sandwich. Staff was great and prices weren't bad too! They are only open until like 3 each day so breakfast and lunch it is. They've got parking in the rear of the building and there is also street parking available. read more

This place is a modern classic. The diner is a railroad car turned diner, complete with railroad decor. I went for breakfast and had a waffle and side of bacon. Allow me to start off by saying Swan Street Diner had some delicious aspects but it also had some aspects that didn't quite hit it with us. Their lemon poppy seed waffle was very delicious! Their freshly squeezed juices were delicious as well! Their meals for the most part do not include a side of eggs or your choice of meat. You will have to purchase those separately. My husband got their corned beef hash, a few bites in and he was okay with it; however, after a while his corned beef hash was something he couldn't continue eating as it was very greasy. He wouldn't recommend the corned beef hash. I do think their freshly squeezed juices are over priced. They charged $4 for a tiny cup of juice. Lastly, one thing we really disliked about Swan Steer Diner was that it smelled very bad. Like sewer. If you can get past the smell the food can be good. We literally ate and couldn't wait to leave as we could not stand the smell. Other than that, our service was great. read more

Swan Street Diner is definitely in our top five favorite breakfast spots in Buffalo! First of all, I have always loved the vibes here. That classic train car and mom-and-pop type of diner feeling is definitely what you'll find here. The space is small, but for what they lack in size they ABSOLUTELY make up for in food quality, and I mean, half of the time when we come for breakfast there are groups of people in the waiting area. They know what they're about, son. Swan Street has a small breakfast and lunch menu - but they have the standard breakfast staples, plus some fun "modern" dishes that they nail every. Single. Time. Coffee, tea, milkshakes, and mimosas?! Hello, this place is a dream. My go-to is usually a western omelette, but I've dabbled in the breakfast tacos and their house-made waffles (did I mention they also have VEGAN dishes??) - and I've literally never been disappointed. I highly recommend coming here on a weekday, and coming EARLY, if possible, because this place gets so busy. But y'know, usually the busiest places have the best food, so huge kudos to the team here for always knocking it out of the ballpark with breakfast! read more

Swan Street is a staple in Buffalo. Located in Larkinville in an old dining car this place has that nostalgic diner feel. Service is always top notch. The same waitresses have been there for years which tells you something. If we are anywhere close to the city we choose here for breakfast. The homemade corn beef hash is amazing! I came by on a Monday morning shortly after they open at 7:00. This is a real old fashioned Diner, built in 1937, and refurbished. I ordered eggs over easy, with bacon, home fries, and sourdough toast. The sourdough toast option is something you don't see everywhere. I sat at the counter. My server was quick and efficient.
