SPOILER: We had plastic in our takeout food, and customer service offered little more than thoughts and prayers. Read on for full details. Sopranos was a local, decently reviewed spot on Google, so we decided to try it out. We ordered our food, and after a brief wait, were provided a takeout bag of Chicken Marsala and assorted pastas. After a safe drive home, we put the bag on the kitchen table. See attached photos for what was in the bag. One of the dishes had a broken plastic lid, which ultimately flooded our food purse. This lid was not cracked. It was shattered, and bits of the plastic had to be fished from the marsala. Now, I can fully understand skepticism here. A few potential trains of thought: - "Oh Butterfingers, you probably dropped the bag!" - "Hey, you probably laid the bag on its side, and it spilled out when you hit the brakes on the ride home." - "You're just a cheapskate looking for a comped meal. Fake news!" Alas, you'd be mistaken on all fronts. We benefitted from a flawless ride home and impeccable bag management. We weren't upset, because we assumed a simple call to the restaurant would even things out. No harm, no foul. No answer. That's to be expected, as the place was to close in a few minutes when the order was processed. We left a message, and went to bed. The next day, I called again. The man who answered the phone listened to my story, and asked for me to provide photos, which I did. I can again understand the skepticism -- freeloaders likely look for any route to a free meal. He called back soon after and said the restaurant wasn't at fault, despite there literally being a severely broken plastic top and plastic chips in our food. The operator said Sopranos can't be responsible for what happens outside of their store, and that the preparer "perfectly" placed the food in the container to ensure quality. He went on to say that we likely spilled it on the drive home, then again offered his condolences. When I made mention that I would be writing a negative restaurant review, he noted that I shouldn't make threats and naysayed my attitude. Boy howdy! First, a better way to handle this would've been to compromise and work with the customer on a prospective solution -- even a novelty coupon would've sufficed. I was not looking for a comp (my tab was $47, mind you); I was looking for an amicable resolution and some sort of empathy. When you pay almost $50 for two plates of food, I would hope one doesn't arrive home in a pile that you're blamed for. Secondly, if my first point was handled appropriately, there would be no threat of a negative review. On the way home I kept thinking, it seems it was more expensive than I was thinking. At home I took a look at the ticket and I was charged a 20% tip that I did not know about. The ticket I signed I gave a tip around 18% as it only showed pre-tip total (on the ticket) so I got double tip'd.. That's too bad since I liked the food. But I think that is wrong.. My daughter and I visited this restaurant a few months ago. We love Italian food. We ordered chicken parm and chicken piccata, something that should be easy for people who claim to be from Italia . It was clear that neither of us liked our food, most of mine was still on my plate. My daughter ate about half of hers. The food was drowning in bland sauce and barely cooked chicken. When I received the check, they had automatically added a 20% tip. Due to the pandemic and knowing that businesses were struggling, I paid it. Don't waste your money- pizza taste like it was from a frozen box - not worth your time and money !!!!

Called in my order over the phone for pick up, the guy told me the balance. I said I was paying cash, he said it's going to be 30 minutes. upon arrival there is a woman at the door saying they are closed and there no orders due to the internet being down. She calls over to a guy sitting in his car who claims he's was listening in on our phone call order and said "I was there, I heard him say you have to be here to place the order". Then as we walk away, he tells us in a sarcastic tone to " have a great night". Zero hospitality. We were never informed about the internet being down and that they don't accept cash payments unless in person. This is not the first time I've had rude interactions with this business. they also are not transparent about the included gratuity so make sure you are not tipping extra unless you really feel that you've had exceptional service. read more

I went here on New Year's Eve and took a order to go for eggplant Parmesan, and the tour of Italy. My husband stated that the eggplant Parmesan didn't taste fresh and on my tour of Italy there was barely to know lasagna just double chicken Alfredo. I called them several times and finally reached somebody on the second, which is understandable because the first was a holiday, however, when I spoke with the employee, he said that they do know, refunds or exchanges, even if the food was never eaten. He said post Covid. They don't do any of that and I explained to him that the food was not eaten because the eggplant tasted old or spoiled or something. He said no refunds or exchanges he said that like three times. Then he proceeded to say the only thing he can tell me to do is to call my bank and put a stop payment on the restaurant charge! I thought that was outrageous that you would tell a customer to call their bank and dispute a charge rather than try to assist them even though I still have the food two days later that can present to them to let them see the problem. I told the employee that that was unprofessional to tell a customer to call their bank and dispute a charge and take a negative hit like that rather than to just take the food back and remake it or refund when clearly I still have the food two days later to show him. He continued to tell me the only thing he could tell me to do is dispute the charge with the bank. I asked to speak to the owner. He said the owner is not there and that's the only answer he can give me. I think that that was a horrible way to treat someone I spent $57 and got no food out of it nor any customer service. I will not be going back. I will be contacting my bank, and I will also be putting this information on other social media, since that's what he told me to do. read more

Hours state they're open until ten. Showed up 5 minutes after 9 on a Saturday night and was told they close for dining at 9. "We say until 10 so that people that come in before 9 can finish their meal before we close." Sorry, but having worked in the industry, that's not how listed hours work for a restaurant. read more

it's been a few years since I posted this warning for folks and I am re-posting this complaint for the benefit of others who might be ripped off by the owners of this place - several family members were regulars there for years before this happened, and they know us well, which makes this all the more galling... a family member gave me a gift certificate from sopranos - it had an expiration date three months out, which is ILLEGAL - when I pointed this out to the owner's son who knew us well, he said that's just the way it is, along with a super-lame excuse that it was to protect them from photocopies! we used the certificate sooner than we otherwise might have, and discovered that while we (appropriately) paid sales tax and the mandatory, unannounced 20% tip on it, SO DID OUR FAMILY MEMBER WHEN THEY PURCHASED IT! it's a shame that this happens as their food was always to our liking! read more

I live in Florida, I travel all over the US, this is the best Italian restaurant I've ever eaten at. The lasagna is so good to change the way I make my recipe at home now. If this is your first time start of the tour of Italy, just know that everything is fantastic. On our first trip each of us pick three things out of the six that can go on the tour of Italy. The chicken parmesan, lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo, and the egg plant item with the ricotta cheese and prosciutto (sorry I cannot remember the name) were all incredible. Make sure to get the cheesy garlic bread as an appetizer, or dessert we had the baklava, and the cannoli. I've made five trips in the last five months to the Raleigh area. Sounded like she was annoyed that we asked for a second serving of bread. Not nice and not customer friendly. You don't have to love us, but can you at least be polite?? Once we were finished with our dinner, we sat around and talked for a bit. Dude, we're family and we were catching up. Once the check was paid, the waiter didn't come by to refill our drinks, which was just water and unsweetened ice tea. I've been to numerous restaurants where the wait staff look after your basic needs after you've paid the tab. That's quality customer service. This place did not have that. - Their tables are not level. Our table was a square table with fold out extensions, turning it into a round table. The extensions were not level with the table. For example, when I cut into my stromboli, the plate kept bouncing back and forth because half the plate was on the extension and the other half on the square table portion. Not cool if the table isn't balanced properly and the food is sliding around. - For some place that has 4 stars on Yelp, this place doesn't appear well known and popular at all. In the 2 hours we were there, there were 3 other parties that came. Final Answer Willing to come back again, but it's not a first choice. Would only come back if someone else suggested it. read more

Came here for lunch. The food was good. We got the calamari and the fettuccine with chicken. All tasted very well executed and made well. My only problem with the experience was we asked for a small plate of oil and vinager to dip the bread in because it was dry and didnt seem to have any oil or anything on it. As soon as we walked in the door we were met by an agressive overwhelmed woman who practically yelled at us as soon as we walked in the door. She said the restaurant was closed and we could come back in 30 minutes.We were basically being told to leave. It seemed a banquet room was full and they must have been understaffed. We've never been greeted by that kind of behavior and not only was it unprofessional, it was embarrassing. We had to turn around and exit the establishment. This is a nice looking place, but the food is comparable to Olive Garden I came home and had the worst case of heartburn in years!
