Okay It's been exactly three years since my first review of this establishment. Although the food is tasty as ever my party of 4 all found the sauces to be watered down not taste but in texture. We had a brand-new waiter he might have been the grandson of the owners. So he gets pass this time. I really forgot just how long it's been since I've been have been to this place. They've expanded the dining area. And the place looks wonderful. I just wish the sauces were up to par. I really was in the mood to be knocked off my feet as always. This time I was on my feet looking to see if indeed I'd walked into the right place. I absolutely adored the food at this place. This was my first visit to Sopranos Grill. I checked the menu online and was instantly interested. It's at the end of a strip mall so you might not expect much, but the interior is clean and nicely decorated (albeit smaller than an average full restaurant). The waiter addressed us immediately upon entry. We were seated and had some time to take in everything. He was seemingly the only one there and had to juggle four tables (including a large group) so some tasks took longer. He was nice enough and attentive when he could be. I had to ask for bread and a refill, but again, not really his fault. The lunch menu is a lot smaller than what is online, assuming its the dinner menu, but I was able to find something. The house salad was large and the ingredients were extremely fresh. It was a leafy green salad with red onion, tomatoes, and cucumber. The dressing was house made and very tasty. The eggplant on the eggplant parm was cooked well. It was thin and very crispy. It was topped with just enough cheese. If I had to change anything, I would reduce the amount of pasta and add some more sauce. It was drier than I prefer. It could have also used a pinch more seasoning. But it was cooked perfectly, as was the whole dish. The bread just delicious. I wished I wasn't so full so I could have eaten more! Great place, good service, will return. read more

Not a fan. Waiter started by telling our group that pizza was not an option! Ordered the Giuliana's Primavera Mediterranean. Came in a mushroom sauce, not an Alfredo sauce. Veggies were overcooked. Ate it because I was hungry. Usually a basket of bread is offered at an Italian restaurant - at this place, waiter walked around and gave each member of the party a tiny piece of bread. Weird! A 20% tip was added to the bill - no indication that would happen on the menu. There were 11 in our group. He says they only have beer and wine. They only have 4 kinds of beer which I don't like any of them. Then I say sweet tea. Ummmm nope. They only make tea on the weekends. W T F ok give me a Mountain Dew. The I order a Eggplant Parmigiana and ask for Alfredo sauce in my noodles. Ok. It comes out in like 5 mins max. It has the eggplant onto of my noodles. took my family there for what we had planned as an evening out. the waiter/ host sat us and asked if we wanted drinks. once our drinks arrived we were asked about appetizers. before the appetizers arrived, we were asked to place our food order. The appetizers were dry and the food arrived before we were finished with the appetizers. The food was not good, the chicken was extremely rubbery and the shrimp was oily. Instead of asking for a replacement meal, I asked for a children's spaghetti. I was told I could not have one because I was over the age of 12. I had just finished paying for five full adult meals. When we mentioned we were not happy with the meal, an old lady approached our table and said we'll that's forty dollars down the drain. I approach the server an told him I would like to pay the bill (so we could leave). On top of it all, an 18% gratuity was added to the bill. I will no eat at that establishment again. read more

First off, the food was good. I was not impressed with the amount of $$$ I ended up paying for a LUNCH. My wife & I are retired and on a fixed budget. I don't like the pre-added 20% tip. That is more than I want to pay, I'm strictly 15%. I feel that's money grabbing. Because we did't have all that much money we ordered a chicken parm & a large salad to split because of money & we just don't need that much food! So a splitting fee was applied. This was my first visit to this hidden gem,and probably won't be my last. What a wonderful surprise! The food was exquisite. I had the special for the evening; a wonderful seafood and cous cous creation that was perfectly balanced with seafood, veggies and broth accompanied with a lovely Chardonnay. It was a generous.portion so I visually divided my plate in half and had to fight the urge to eat the whole darned thing. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated with a nice, homey feel. Casually elegant, with a nicely balanced wine list - it would be nicer to have cloth napkins. In any event, I will be back again. read more

Sopranos Grill is a nice Italian place to go to. They also have some sopranos themed stuff around the restaurant if you are a fan of the TV show. They start you out with some garlic bread as a free appetizer. It's pretty good and free always taste better. For the main course, I had their stuffed ravioli filled with mozzarella. They give you 3 shells covered with pasta sauce. Pretty good, but just as a warning they do cook everything fresh so it will come out really hot. read more

My family and I chose to come here on Valentine's Day. I was very disappointed from the moment I sat down. Fist of all the menu wasn't the regular menu. It was a special menu for the night with hardly any Italian dishes to choose from, no lasagna, no spaghetti and meatballs, no cannelloni, manicotti, you get the idea. Then there was an issue with prices. Nothing on the menu was under $20. So, they limited their menu and jacked up the prices for the night. We chose to stay anyway and I wish we hadn't. Once I sat down no one came to ask if I wanted anything to drink. Two of our party had not made it there yet, but they didn't offer any of us a drink, a basket of bread or appetizer. We had to call them over to ask for drinks. We realized the other couple was running late so we sent them a picture of the night's menu and got them to text us their order. Had to flag our waiter down again and give them our order. My dad told him we were short a set of silverware, no one brought him any. After waiting awhile he got up and got his own set from the waitress section. Finally our last couple arrived and so did the food. The food is the only reason why they are getting any stars from me. The food was delicious. I wanted a little more salt added to mine. I went to use the salt shaker and the salt had hardened and I couldn't get anything out of it. I got up and switched it with another table, knowing that they weren't going to be back anytime soon to check on us. By this time they had dropped off a pitcher of water and tea as if to say you're on your own. Finally, we are at the end of our meal and we sat there and sat there. My mom wanted a to go box for her left overs, nobody came. Since it had been self serve all night long I got up, went to the waitress station again and got her a box. That got their attention and we got our checks. People let me tell you I was not happy. I got the lamb chops and my daughter wanted fettuccine alfredo without any meat but was told she had to get either chicken or shrimp because she was going to be charged for it either way, we were billed $68.00 for our night. I realize that they added the customary 20% gratuity fee for a large party but after our lack of service I was hot. We went to pay and voice our opinion and was told there was nothing they could do, the register was set to charge us that amount. I am not an idiot and know when I am being lied to. You are the ones that set the price of your food and you are the one that inputs how many people were in my party. There was plenty your establishment could have done and chose to let not just one person walk out of your establishment angry but all six of us. I will never drive an hour again to come to this restaurant just to be treated so disrespectfully. read more

I went to this place for the first because it was near to me. The place is nice but, their large size pizza is really a medium size. It tasted like a box pizza that you would buy in a supermarket and they charge you $8.00 if you want an extra plate. Birthday party for family member. 8 people. My wife made a birthday cake for after dinner. Food and atmosphere were great. Afterwards we sang happy birthday and ate cake and ice cream that we brought. They supplied a spoon. I got bill and it included $19.99 for a cake fee. Not cool. I challenged them on it butthey refused to remove the charge. This is just not how we do things in NC. Sorry but my wife and I will not be going to Sopranos in the future. I sent my mom to pick up an order for me on my lunch break and I was extremely upset with what I received. I purchased an order of lobster bisque and calamari. When I opened the tray of calamari it was extremely skimpy !!! It was barely anything in the tray and I was charged $11.50 !! What a waste !! I even called them to share my complaint & I was told there wasn't anything that they could do for me. Unfortunately I was on my lunch break so I wasn't able to return back to the restaurant & I was stuck with crumbs of calamari. Their customer service was absolutely terrible & they definitely have left a bad taste in my mouth ! read more

My sister and I are visiting Raleigh/Durham and Charlotte restaurants. We will not be returning to this restaurant. Food was nothing to return back for. Don't expect complimentary bread until your food comes out. Each of our receipts already included a 20% tip (only 2 adults and a child with two separate checks). The waiter did not deserve 20% from each of us because he rarely appeared and seemed to be annoyed with having to serve us. There was only one couple in the restaurant when we were there. So he wasn't so busy with customers and calls to check if we needed anything. read more

Had an issue with a gift certificate. Without me realizing it their certificates have a one month expiration date (which I've never seen in my life for a gift certificate). When trying to use it only 3 months later they refused to honor it. I wasn't looking for my money back, simply to use it where I had spent my money. After disputing it with my credit card company I am responsible for the charge. However, the owner felt it necessary in their response to call me a lair and alerted my credit card company to be on the lookout for any of my future charges. Very unprofessional and totally uncalled for from a business owner. If you still decide to give them your business just be cautious. read more

I think 4 1/2 stars would be my score, but thought I would round up. Hubby and I decided last minute to try out Soprano's and was pleasantly surprised. Being a small restaurant in a strip mail one can never know. The place is quaint and I appreciate the great mood music. The service was just right for us. We don't need a lot of attention so not being interrupted every 5 minutes was nice. We shared rice balls and an entree. The serving size is huge. We came home with over half of the entree. At least two meals more. The creme sauce was great. Not greasy or oily at all. I could have used a bit more grated Parmesan on the entree, but then again my heart and the scale didn't. My sister and I went to Sopranos on Saturday 10/3/20 yes we know that they have a small restaurant but we got there at 7:30, while the cashier or bartender I really don't know what he was. He was polite , but we felt like they didn't want our business ,,,they had outside seating no one was sitting there and he didn't even ask if we wanted to make a take out order he assumed we had one and we said no but made no other effort to say hey let me see if I can assist these customers. it was more like we're gonna be closing at nine I'm sorry and that was it ! so I guess we just won't be going back there You'd think that they would want business but I guess not from us. The waiter at Sopranos was not honest with our party when we came in. My $13 ticket turned into $28 after they added the mandatory 20% gratuity which is not actually allowed in North Carolina. They indicate tops are mandatory but that is not the law in NC. You do not have to tip if you do not feel the service warrants except and you are allowed to decide how much the tip will be. Also the waiter added an $8 sharing fee to the bill without disclosing the amount. I give this one star for honesty and integrity. read more

I'm giving this place 2 stars based off the fact that they automatically charge your card the 20% gratuity without you even knowing or being told!!! The food is good but when you fail to tell a customer that beforehand and requesting that I pay over phone with a card and not in cash is unacceptable. Have been there twice and was very pleased both times. Nice people, good food and good service. The calamari fritte is some of the best I've had anywhere. Well seasoned, fresh and perfectly prepared. Enjoyed this as an appetizer, but could have been an entree. The secret of any Italian restaurant is always the sauce. The Marinara is very good with just the right seasoning, good depth of flavors and complimentary to their pasta choices. The Bolognes sauce is even better with a smoky, slightly spicy flavor and just thick enough to be nearly perfect. An excellent choice for either lunch or dinner. read more

I visited last week while out shopping and I enjoyed my experience. I ordered the hot Italian sub with fries. There were only a couple of other tables so my food came out really quickly. I spotted a coupon on restaurant.com -- and since my family was ill -- I decided to grab some takeout since it's only a mile from my house. $30 minimum, no problem... I'd just grab apps and dessert. After I get there they tell me "dine in only" on the coupon. Now, I'm a savvy coupon shopper. I made DARNED sure that it didn't say 'dine in' or have a time restriction or whatall. I double checked on the paper copy I had. No mention of any limitations. I pointed it out to the manager/owner. He just shrugged and told me that I was out of luck. I politely asked him to reconsider. Nope. So I went over to another table, gave them my coupon and told them, "Hey, want a coupon? It's worth a bit and I'm NEVER coming back here again. Hopped in here for some appetizers because we were in the mood for a light lunch. This is not your average Italian joint. It's in a shopping center in a pretty industrial area, but it does not match its context in the slightest. Our server was so friendly and charismatic. At first we were completely sold on the rice balls.. Yes, RICE BALLS. Risotto, ricotta, and some crazy mix of delicious things balled up and fried in home made batter. We soon found out they were out of them but gathered ourselves and decided on ordering the trifecta and the caprese salad. WOW! There were three of us and the trifecta came with three mozzarella sticks, three pieces of fried ravioli, and three chicken tenders. So the trifecta was perfecta. I feel over the top saying it was the best mozzarella stick I ever had, so for the sake of not sounding nuts, let's just say it was the second best. Fried ravioli was stuffed with ricotta. And the chicken was fried to delicious perfection. I ended up eating most of the caprese salad while everyone was occupied with their fried goodies. Fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, and basil. The balsamic vinegar and olive oil that the dish comes with was also perfect for dipping the table bread in. We were ready to collect our bill and head out... but that same friendly waiter convinced us into ordering dessert. GREAT decision. I had a little espresso to go with the cannoli. We split the cannoli in three... This was a great ending to this ultra pleasant appetizer experience. read more

This place is in a non-descript strip mall 6 minutes from home, and I've been meaning to go. For New Year's Eve, we were between Twisted Fork (which we've been to) and Soprano's, which we had not. We made reservations on Open Table, which turned out to be unnecessary- there was one other group in the restaurant and us. But wow, what a decision. Draft beer, including Fat Tire, Shotgun Betty, and Goose Island IPA for 3.50 is solid, but the calamari as a starter was a shaky start. Very small portion and overcooked but the sauce was incredible, a sign of better things to come. The dishes ordered were Lobster Ravioli (a special), Seafood Fra Diavalo, Shrimp Scampi, and Fettucine Alfredo (off the kids menu, with a side of meatballs). The sauces were unreal. So fresh tasting. The bread was fabulous. The meatballs giant. The shrimp jumbo. Everything was amazing, big portions, but couldn't stop eating because it was so good.
