Sora Sushi is like everything else in Central Oregon. Let me explain. I used to live in Las Vegas. When I wanted sushi, there were about 50 top quality sushi places I could go to within five miles of my house. They all had exceptional quality. They all offered all you can eat, with everything freshly prepared to order, for about $30. That is what is referred to as "liquidity". At Sora Sushi, you wait half an hour for a few pieces of nigiri. Everything is wildly overpriced, mediocre quality. But you pay it. Because you're in Central Oregon and that's all there is. Two stars might be a tad harsh, they didn't poison me or anything. But just like everything else here, you pay a mountain tax in quality, price, and service. There are better sushi options around, but to be fair, they are even more overpriced. The problem isn't Sora. Sora is a symptom. Save your money and just eat at home. read more

Not the most visually appealing place, but the food does not disappoint. Wouldn't say the service i've experienced is noteworthy by any means, although I have no complaints about it either. I have enjoyed everything I've tried here except for the Chashu Ramen, which wasn't necessarily bad but not good enough that I would order it again. As someone who is new to the world of sushi and has never been much of a seafood eater I have enjoyed and the edamame and potstickers as appetizers and my favorite rolls are the Monster Roll and Dragon Roll. We went here for my nephews birthday last weekend because he loves sushi as well as the belt at Sora. We've never been to this one, but I don't think I'll be coming back. It wasn't too busy there and the service was mediocre for the lack of customers. It also wasn't as clean as I prefer. They didn't have a lot of options on the line, but we just got what was on there. First, they are not even close to downtown Redmond as stated in their intro. Next, they charged $5 to my cc on a day I wasn't even there! That's pure fraud. Last, their sushi is inconsistent: one has thick rice, the next one not. And don't come at 11 am when they open bc they don't have anything made yet. They are very slow getting out the best kinds on the conveyor. Come at 11:30 or noon for more variety. We love coming here because it's convenient, prices are reasonable, and food is good. My husband and I share a bento box (chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu), sake (salmon nigiri), and one sushi roll (Sunshine), and are full and happy. We have yet to come during lunch when the conveyor belts is running! Ambiance is great, especially for families. It's low-key and casual. They also have a private section in the back that's great for parties. We attended a birthday dinner for a friend in that section and it was nice. Great location in downtown so you can wait walk around before or after. Also it's next to TeaCupfuls (boba), which is also a plus! read more

Meh. The sushi was OK, but fell well short of what they advertise, at least for the Cherry Blossom Roll, which is pictured. According to the menu it's a "Flower shaped roll center filled w/ salmon and avacado, a colorful outer layer of Tuna generously garnished w/ tobiko and scallion". The picture in the menu included about 3 times the tuna that actually made it to my table. For the price, I'll stay with the higher quality, and frankly more honest competition in downtown Redmond. read more

This is not a fancy sushi restaurant but it's good sushi for not having many sushi restaurants in the area. We came here on a Sunday night and they greeted us immediately and let us seat ourselves. Seems like a slow day because the conveyor belt was not on and you order dim sum style (make what you want on the menu, I included a picture). Sushi was good, not bad and not amazing and I seen many other people getting the bento boxes with looked good as well. This review might be a bit unfair because I have nothing local to use as a benchmark so I am comparing Soba Sushi to San Francisco Bay Area sushi restaurants. The ambiance is very typical of a storefront restaurant. I really liked the wood fish lights. I ordered a bento box with shrimp and vegetable tempura and spicy beef. The meal started with very good miso soup. When the bento box arrived, I started with the salad because the tempura was too hot to eat. The lettuce was nice and fresh; but, there was something that I did not like about the dressing. My wife said that there was horseradish in the dressing. The steamed rice was perfect. California Roll seemed bland, not up to my standards for a good California Roll. Shrimp and vegetable tempura was very good with the exception of the asparagus, it was too woody to be eaten. I would not have noticed if the asparagus had not been included. It took me awhile to taste the spice in the spicy beef. The spice was nicely understated. Service was good. Summary, the pluses and minuses of the food balanced each other to average out to a good meal. We will go back and try a few rolls. read more

From the moment I glanced through the window at the little mannequin greeting me at the entrance, I got a weird vibe the place. As we sat down, we were entertained by a man in a tiger mask singing his heart out on the T.V. It took a while for the man to take our order, but once he did he was a very nice man. As we waited for our food we noticed little things like the pile of dishes greeting our table. On to the food. The food was okay, but nothing great. The chicken katsu was not great and the bottom was soggy and was falling off. The salad was all wilted and unpleasant to look at. You could tell the rice was old because it had formed an unfamiliar crust. The miso soup was also watery. The chicken teriyaki was drowning is teriyaki sauce. Yummy surprise. Honestly we never tried here bc of the outside appearance. We ordered door dash from Sora since Oishi the other sushi in town had a hour forty five minute delivery time. Fresh, tasty and delicious. Honestly Oishi is a lot more for less and last time our rolls fell apart. I attached our food order, price and pic of food. Most definitely will be eating here again. Having visited many conveyor belt sushi restaurants, it is a pleasant surprise to find one that places such consistent importance on the quality and presentation of the food. I am grateful for their existence, especially considering the limited options I previously had, living in Prineville. In the beginning, there were some varied experiences with the level of service, but the manager is genuinely interested in improving it and I feel like I am well attended-to every time I dine there. Additionally, the chefs take pride in their work and they have succesfully gone out of their way to recreate rolls I have described to them that they were previously unfamiliar with. It was our second choice due to the reviews we have read, but the two rolls we had were everything we could have hoped for! We got crab puffs (which are the same as every other basic crab puff), chicken fried rice, angry dragon roll, and the sake bomb roll. The rolls were great, and everything else was as expected. Not very good service or selection. I have been there 3 times.. and 2 out of 3 were bad. When they first opened, it was great. I told my friends who were out of town to try it out.. they hated it. A month later, decided to try it again, maybe it was a bad day. The selection was worse. And it took 20 mins for the servers to notice I did not have any food, just sat watching the little amount of trays go by. Even without COVID restrictions, this was not great. We came in and we're told to just "sit anywhere" to which we did. They don't utilize the sushi belt due to "COVID" so everything is ala carte which is way too expensive. Use to be between $1-$4 a plate is now $8 or greater rolls.
