    Kitchen-sink Salad with chicken

One of the few places now in downtown that meet the office lunch criteria...decent ambiance with good food and decent drinks. The place to be now that the dish and the city steam are no more... Love their flatbreads and pizzas. Calamari always good. The last time I had their famous kichensink salad..

The chicken parm with linguine and arugula salad 10/10!! Delish and the service was amazing, such a cute location. I took it to go since I'm staying at a hotel close by but I did have a glass of wine at the bar while I waited for my food.

If you're an Italian aficionado, just come to Sorella. We could not have been happier with the warm & welcoming ambience, stellar food & exceptional service! We sat at a high top in their cozy bar. Treated ourselves to signature cocktails followed by Dish bread (holy yum for kids of all ages) & a delicious chopped salad with chickpeas, feta, & and a yummy vinaigrette. For dinner, we ordered their brick oven pesto pizza with tomato jam, Annie's White, & fresh bucatini Cacio e Pepe - OMG. We consider ourselves kind but discerning & everything we received was top notch. Ashley & the entire staff could not have been nicer. They work together as a great team should. Will absolutely be back!!!

We've been wanting to give Sorella a try for dinner as we often notice the restaurant is jammed packed on a Saturday evening. We had the chance to snag a reservation prior to seeing a show at the Hartford Stage. We started with cocktails and a brussel sprout appetizer. The drinks were excellent and the appetizer was generous. Our meals were also delicious and generous. The service was top notch. We can see why the restaurant is often busy. A concert was canceled on the day we went so the restaurant wasn't crowded. It had a nice vibe, but not too crazy. Not sure how loud it would be when busy.

This is one of those places I am shocked isn't more busy. If people stop hyping Hartford to be as dangerous as Gotham city this place would be impossible to get into. Way better than the over hyped places in west Hartford center. Have been here maybe 6-7 times with my wife and also my family. Every time has great. It my wife's favorite lobster roll. She always calling to confirm they have it on the menu and can save her one. I've had all types of their pasta and it's always delicious as well as their pizzas. The servers are always nice and everything comes out quick. It is probably my 3rd favorite Italian restaurant in CT. Defiantly recommend The ravioli was delicious the last time I went.

I ordered takeout from Sorella in downtown Hartford and overall, it was just okay--3 out of 5 for me. I called in my order and picked it up myself. The staff was polite over the phone and at pickup, but the experience had a few hiccups. I got the fried calamari, crispy Brussels sprouts, mango iced tea, and strawberry lemonade. The calamari itself was decent, but the marinara sauce was a bit too oily, which took away from the flavor. The Brussels sprouts were overly crispy--almost burnt--so they were more bitter than crunchy. I was looking forward to them, so that was a letdown. As for the drinks, they didn't have a proper drink carrier and made a makeshift one. I appreciated the effort, but the lid popped off the mango iced tea as soon as I stepped outside, and it spilled. I lost a good bit of it trying to fix the situation, which was frustrating. The ambiance inside seemed nice--modern, clean, with a cozy vibe--but since I was doing takeout, I didn't get to fully experience it. Would I try them again? Maybe--but I'd dine in next time and probably skip the Brussels sprouts.

I really wanted to like this place. We made reservations and it came recommended. The food was very good, actually....the service was not. Bolognese was amazing as was the Eggplant Entree. Not a fan of the meat and cheese app as the ratio of meat/cheese to the waffle thing was off. It started with telling the waiter John C that we were going to the Hartford Stage. We ordered drinks. The drink that three of us got was the same-one of us liked it. It tasted like cough medicine. We asked for some Persecco to add to it to think it down...that's where the lack of customer service started. After this, our waiter started ghosting us. Didn't come over to the table, ask if we wanted water, etc. the Apps came out, then the entrees. We noticed other tables had table bread. We had to ASK for some. It came after the entrees. We then wanted dessert. It was good but by this time we needed to leave for show and waiter was MIA. I am not sure I will be back if this is how the service is consistently. We weren't rude to waiter, we just didn't like the cocktail. Drinks weren't taken off bill nor were we asked if we wanted something different. Very disappointed as it could have been a very lovely meal!

I've been on Pratt St tons of times but never got the chance to try Sorella until recently! THE FOOD -Split the meatball app and very tasty! I would recommend and get it again. I would've like to try the calamari or something else too but the person I was with doesn't eat it. -Orecchiette: I told the server I like spicy and she recommended this! I really enjoyed it. The crumbly sausage was very tasty. Slight things I would change: more broccoli rabe and I would have liked it a little less cooked (it was dark green and didn't have that gorgeous crisp to it), for me the dish could've been spicier (didn't have that kick I'm used to with arrabiata sauce) , and the dish was a bit oily for my liking (lots pooled on the bottom). I ate about half and the leftovers reheated really well on the stove (I added a little extra sauce at home). -Gnocchi: the person I was with got the gnocchi. While I didn't try it, they really enjoyed. It looked delish! THE DRINKS -Tequila mockingbird: I was in the mood for something spicy and the server said this will do the mark but can make it spicier if I wanted. I tried it as is and she was so awesome so came over and used a spicy concentrate dropper to give it more oomf. I will say it wasn't as cold as I would've liked, perhaps could've used a longer shake behind the bar, but I got some ice and all was well. -Mule: my friend got a mule and liked it! THE SERVICE: -I think the service is what really put the experience over the top for me. While I enjoyed the food and drink, the service really made me feel welcome and special. THE ATMOSPHERE -we had a 2 seat high top near the bar. Those seats are sometimes a little uncomfortable for me to sit in for long periods but we got to see a lot of stuff come out of the kitchen and be made at the bar -there are low top tables near the windows and in an area near the pizza oven I think I would really like to try next time I visit. Overall, I enjoyed trying Sorella. I would go back and try some other menu items. Definitely the pizza as it looked very good!

An abundance of food! Took home a nice amount!

Excellent meal, ambiance, service, etc. We had very good calamari (large portion and large calamari) see picture. I had the orecchiette which is housemade sausage, broccoli rabe, spicy arrabiata sauce, and pasta. See picture.

It's been a while but glad to see this option still open in downtown Hartford! Sat in the bar and ordered a glass of wine, the grain bowl (farro, roasted mushrooms, roasted summer squash, lacinato kale, crumbled feta cheese, balsamic vinaigrette) and the warm olive oil cake. The grain bowl I will be thinking about for a long time! Sooo good. The farro is toasted which adds a nice depth of flavor and crunchier texture. All the roasted items were so well done but still left some texture. The menu didn't say it but it also had roasted carrots. The overall flavor with some slight sweetness from the balsamic and squash played well with the savory cheese. If you are not too hungry it works well as a meal by itself but you can add protein options as well. The warm olive oil cake was a thick slice from a loaf pan that they toasted to make it crunchy and then put it on top of lemon curd. A nice, not too sweet way to end a meal. It definitely eats a little heavier but it's enjoyable. Service was really friendly and food came out quickly. Would definitely come back.

Well, that's the checklist for the standout lunch experience we had at Portobello yesterday. The European street scene dining room is very pretty, with two huge Italian landscape paintings on the brick walls, lantern lights, a wide plank hardwood floor, dark furniture and white tablecloths. Molto elegante! So, our experience was positive from the minute we sat down but got even better when Dee made her appearance. She may have been my favorite server of 2026! What a joy she was, with her sunny disposition, whip smart sense of humor, and plain overall charm. We dove into the lunch menu and saw they had a ton of options within their Appetizer, Soup, Salad, Entrée. Burger, Pasta, and Sandwich/Wrap groupings. We went for two sandwiches - Eggplant with fries ($19) and Balsamic Marinated Portobello Mushroom Panini ($16.00) with fresh mozzarella, oven-fried tomatoes, arugula, roasted pepper aioli and a side salad. The Mushroom Panini was mine and it was fantastic; I loved every bite of it. I love mushrooms and that big Portobello, tomato, aioli combination was delicious. Toward the end of the meal, none other than owner Seyo Cecunjanin came over to thank us for our patronage and asked how we liked the meal. When we told him we loved it and we were first timers, he thanked us again in the form of a complimentary slice of their Pistachio cake! Portobello has a Happy Hour (how does a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Martini sound?), and that makes Portobello even more of a sweet destination to seek out and support. The appetizers, pasta, entrees and desserts combine old-world traditional Italian flavor with a modern flair for presentation, and the freshest ingredients around. Menu staples like calamari, chicken milanese, fettucine carbonara and ravioli are paired with unique recipes like pappardelle with sausage and tenderloin steaks. They have staffed their kitchen with a dream team of local chefs that ensure our quality does not waiver and our kitchen is always OPEN! Not every place can say that! For my first drink, I'm having the Manhattan's Creek made with Knob Creek bourbon, sweet vermouth, dry vermouth and Angostura bitters. Wait a minute! These are the same ingredients as a Perfect Manhattan! This is chilled, well balanced and nicely garnished. I like it! For my first food item, I'm having a House Salad (small, off-menu version). This is made with a spring mix including basil, tomatoes, julienned carrots, cucumbers and a red wine vinaigrette dressing. This is nice and fresh! I love the dressing! I like the nice cloth napkin as well as a disposable one. The bartender is the nicest one I've ever met. For my next item, I'm having the Rigatoni Marinara. The is made with rigatoni and house marinara sauce. It's low cholesterol and guilt-free (for me). This is steaming hot and delicious! Nice portion size too! We started with the shrimp alla vodka pasta, which was genuinely good and a dish I'd order again. We also shared an apple arugula salad that was fresh and well balanced, along with a side of fries that were just okay -- nothing special, but they did the job. The evening didn't start off smoothly, though. The restaurant was busy, and the wait to be seated took a while. Once we were seated, the service was okay at best -- attentive enough to get our order right, but not particularly warm or fast. That became more of an issue when our prosecco arrived flat. We had to work to get our waiter's attention to have it replaced, and it took much longer than it should have for someone to notice and follow up. We also tried a lavender vodka drink, which ended up being a bit of a letdown. It was expensive for what amounted to a small pour, and honestly the best part of it was the fancy glass it came in -- the drink itself didn't quite justify the price. Overall, the food carried the night. The pasta and salad were highlights, and I'd come back for those alone. But the service hiccups and pricey, underwhelming cocktails took some shine off the experience. If you go, stick to the pasta and maybe skip the specialty drinks.

And if your wildest dreams happen to revolve around Italian comfort foods and well stacked sandwiches, well, do I have a place to make those wildest dreams come true for you! La Rosa is your quintessential Italian deli with dozens of grinders, paninis, wraps, salads, soups and a daily hot bar of pasta and chicken entrees. We ordered a grilled Panino Melenzani ($12) with eggplant, tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil and olive oil. It was grilled right in front of our eyes, so it was as fresh as could be. It had plenty of tender sliced eggplant, yummy cheese and fresh tomatoes. I went with my usual, an Italian Combo (half size for $14) stacked a mile high with Ham, Turkey, Genoa, Mortadella, Capicola, and Provolone with lettuce, tomato, onions, and peppers on a fresh loaf of Italian bread.
