For Georgetown this restaurant was a nice addition to the town as options are quite few. The good was really good. They catered to my "very spicy" request quite well. Service was great. What a wonderful Mother's Day feast, I love curry so I ordered yellow curry with chicken. It was the best I have ever had. The other 4 members at our table all had different dishes and all were in agreement that this was the best ever! I am so thrilled that they are in Georgetown. I have been to Sorn 3 times now, and each time I am blown away by how good the food is. The yellow curry is phenomenal, and the spring rolls are perfect. I don't know a lot about Thai, but it seems like the food is a step-up from other places that I've tried. The sauces are off-the-charts good. I look forward to trying some different dishes here in the future. Fresh flowers are nice, too. The Georgetown Square is amazing! It really is the most beautiful town square in Texas. We walked in and were greeted immediately. We loved the music and decor. Very friendly and informative staff. We asked for recommendations and we were not disappointed in one dish. We started off with the steamed dumplings called Gyoza Dumplings. Then had a soup that was beautifully served in a fire pot called Tom Zapp Beef. So fresh and delicious! We ended our meal with soft spring rolls (chicken). All the sauces are delicious and fresh! We can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu. Food was ok but service dreadful. There was only one waitress for the entire restaurant upstairs and downstairs last night for dinner service. The manager/owner said he was sorry but 2 servers had called in sick - wow only open for 3 weeks and a huge percentage of employees calling in sick. My husband was served his entree which he proceeded to eat even mine had not come as I wanted to eat it while hot. Then the waitress came by and told him he had been served the wrong entree and our food was on its way. Later my husband was served his correct entree and again no food for me. Fifteen minutes later is when the manager/owner came by and we told him we were still waiting on my food. Finally about half hour after my husband was finished I got my entree which was basically curdled chicken and rice. This restaurant needs time to get its act together so we will not be back for awhile if ever ! read more

My fiancé and I tried this place on its second day open and were blown away. The ambiance is great--cozy and stylish--but the food truly steals the show. Hands down the best Thai food we've ever had, even compared to California. We came back again and ordered different dishes, and everything was just as stunning in both presentation and flavor. Had lunch with my son, I ordered the soft shrimp spring roll appetizer which is something I order at other Thai restaurants. It was completely different than what the menu described. Described on the menu was a roll stuffed with vermicelli, cucumber and shrimp. What came to the table was stuffed with a spring mix lettuce, 1 small tomato and shrimp, no vermicelli or cucumber. Our entrees were a Chicken Pineapple fried rice and Tofu Pad se Ew. My son just said he has had better fried rice, my dish had the tofu a little overcooked and the egg noodles were similar to what you get at the grocery store, wide but thin. I've been to many other Thai restaurants and normally get a noodle that is more similar to homemade, a little more robust and takes on flavor from the dish more readily. Lunch was busy and service was slow, for a while we had trouble understanding who our server was. She appeared to be hostess, working behind the bar and helping us if we flagged her down. I'm giving it 2 stars mainly for the lackluster service but there were certainly other issues along the way. I had the Pad Thai and my husband the Tangy Steak Salad. His did not arrive till I was almost finished with mine, and I ate slowly to try to wait for his to arrive. The salad had so much dressing on it, the very first bite the spice hit his throat and he had a coughing fit and my guy likes spicy food, but this was too much. So instead he decided to eat the steak. Only problem was the steak was in strips and needed a steak knife which was not served with the salad. He took a few bites of steak but stopped pretty quickly because he said there was too much gristle in the meat. His salad was largely untouched and the steak was on a little plate next to it. "Do you want a to go box?" (it did not go home with us) she asked, when the correct questions would have been, "Was everything okay?" But truthfully our server was largely disinterested. 58.00 plus tip (no alchohol) for a lousy experience. I worked in a couple of small exclusive restaurants in Sonoma, CA, and the one thing impressed upon us by the owner/ chef (s) was to make sure our customers left satisfied because if a customer has a positive dining experience they'll come back. If they don't they'll go elsewhere. We're in the latter group. read more

My husband and I had a reservation for 7 PM and arrived at the restaurant at 655. The female hostess was busy seating a table for five. She didn't acknowledge me or politely say I'll be right back to help you. Another gentleman who works at the restaurant asked very politely how can I help you and I replied I was checking in for our reservation. He said a table for two just opened for us and showed me where it was located. I waved to my husband and as we headed towards the table another female customer started screaming that she should be seated first because her reservation was for 630 PM. Then the female hostess returned stating that my husband and I could not have the table. She didn't apologize or try to calm the customer. She was extremely rude to us. The male employee did apologize but we decided to leave and went to Blue Corn Harvest restaurant which treated us with respect, kindness, and a good meal. read more

Four of us went to Sorn Thai the eve of New Year's Eve. It was packed -- they were quite busy. We had golden bags and coconut shrimp as apps. Delicious! And my wife loved her Thai coffee (which she didn't realize was served cold, but it was tasty). I had chicken Ga Prow, my wife had Tiger (?), a beef dish, and our two friends each had different curry bowls. All around, the food was top-notch. I did have to complain about a service issue (thus 4 stars instead of 5), but the manager addressed it humbly and to our satisfaction. I think it's just one waiter who needs to be a bit more attentive with checking on tables, filling waters (especially when spicy dishes are ordered) and ensuring that the order ticket was actually turned in!!! Note to Sorn Thai: The back of the house seems to have the process down, so just improve the training of your front-of-house team, and you'll have a great 5-star restaurant. I'll be back. read more
