After having a bad experience a couple months ago at Sorn Thai down the street (read my review) we decided to check out JaiWai. We had walked past it a few times in the past and had been wanting to try it out. The restaurant is small and non-assuming, but don't let that fool you. We opted for lunch with a couple friends and were not disappointed. Our server Mack greeted us as we arrived and quickly got us seated with menus and waters. I had heard that the Kao Soi was supposed to be really good, so I opted for that. My wife had her usual Pad Thai with chicken, our friends had Pad Krapow with pork and chicken Basil Fried Rice. Living in Thailand for 6 years as a kid, I pretty much know good Thai food, and I can tell you that all 4 dishes hit the mark. I tried tastes from all 4 dishes. The Pad Thai was served with crushed peanuts and a big slice of lime and was very flavorful, had the right amount of sauce, but probably could have used just a tad less sugar and a few more pieces of meat. The Basil Fried Rice was delicious. It had that "wok-fired" street food taste and was served with some sliced cucumber and a slice of lime. The only thing I would change is to leave the broccoli out. You don't typically see that in Thailand. The Pad Krapow had a spot-on taste associated with good Pad Krapow and did not disappoint. The only suggestion is to be sure and order it with a fried egg to make it more authentic. Last but certainly not least was my Kao Soi. Only recently becoming more popular here in the US, it is an egg noodle curry soup dish that originates from northern Thailand. I have had Kao Soi in restaurants in Chiang Mai, and I can tell you that JaiWai hit every mark with this one! Most impressive was the plate of condiments. It included a lime wedge for a little acidity to help brighten the flavor of the broth, chopped shallots for some freshness, and pickled mustard greens that really make a difference! They are tart and crunchy and help counter the richness of the broth, a component that's very important in Thai cuisine. And lastly, fried chili flakes. This is optional for those who want to add some heat to their bowl, but for me it is mandatory. I like my Thai food hot and spicy. The only suggestion I have for the Kao Soi is maybe top it with slightly less fried noodles. They were welcome, but just a tad difficult to mix them into the soup because of the amount. Mack did an amazing job serving us. He was very friendly and took the time to confirm our orders. So I highly recommend JaiWai and we will be making it our go to Thai place in Georgetown. Tried Jaiwai Thai Kitchen for dinner last night and had a really good experience. The service was great, the food came out fresh and flavorful, and everything we ordered was something I'd happily get again. We had the yellow curry with tofu, pad Thai with tofu, and the papaya salad -- all were delicious. One thing worth mentioning: we ordered spice level 1 out of 5, and it still had a solid kick. Definitely enough heat to keep you reaching for the next bite without being overwhelming. They also brought out complimentary egg rolls and wontons as appetizers, which was a nice surprise and a great way to start the meal. The restaurant itself is very casual with a simple, no-frills atmosphere that seems mainly focused on to-go orders rather than dine-in ambiance. That said, the food and friendly service were definitely the stars of the experience. Overall, really enjoyable dinner and I'm looking forward to coming back. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. The service here is HORRIBLE. Ive been coming here since 2022 and had minor issues. Today, that ALL changed. My friend and I ordered food & in her order she stated NO carrot and NO egg. We get the food.. there is scrambled egg all in it. After nicely asking for it to be remade because she did in fact ask for no egg, the server proceeded to tell her she didn't say that "this time" because he knows us. We go all the time with our friends (who now will never go back.) He was so rude to her she ended up not even eating. I quickly ate and we left as fast as we could. DO NOT GO HERE. This place has gone down hill fast. I should've stopped going after their first health violation. Edit: to your response "Jesus loves me" yes, He does. However it doesn't change the fact that your staff was rude for NO reason to people who come here all the time. read more

I have been coming to this restaurant since the beginning. Food has always been excellent, hot, fresh, flavorful! 5 stars in the food. Recently visited after they returned from extended vacation, they have changed the way they service the dining room. No longer full service, now order at counter and eat out of to go containers. Not a fan. I get it, you want to operate with less employees but eating out of to go containers and paying the same ruins the experience for me. I hope they will reconsider. read more

Mediocre food. Service is terrible. Decor is a letdown. The server with braces seems inept at best. He couldn't seem to figure out the three tables in the restaurant. One guy got up to request sriracha, another table had to flag him down to pay. We had to flag him down just to order. Won't be back. read more

I have heard great things about Jaiwai from my friends who frequent the area. This was a great spot to meet up with a friend and catch up over lunch. The lunch prices were good! $2 off their regular price for our dishes. I got the pad see ewe with pork, which I really enjoyed. The only downside was that the vegetables were very undercooked. The carrots and especially the broccoli were hard and tasted half raw. My friend got the green curry fried rice and said it was spicy and really good too. The service was fast, and I appreciate how our server told us to take our time after we paid. The parking spots in front of the restaurant were full, but I found nearby free street parking. They could definitely add some decor to liven up the atmosphere. read more

A gem of a spot for Thai food in Georgetown, TX. The place looks slightly uninviting from the outside but it's all about what comes from the inside, right? Their 5/5 spicy level isn't that spicy if you tend to eat spicy food often. Jaiwai serves up what we believe is the best pad see ew in the Austin area. We havent found another dish on their menu that we absolutely have to get each time like the see ew but we're working through the menu. The prices were very reasonable because they save by having you counter order and serving meals in take out containers. It is not a fancy place, and the reasonable prices reflect it. I wish I would've read the reviews about how this establishment has changed over the last couple of months, before coming back in. You're no longer served by wait staff, you place your order at the counter and they serve your food in plastic to-go containers. No plates, no silverware. Just plastic containers, plastic cups, plastic cutlery, paper plates. Everything in disposable containers. What's going on here?? I hope this is just temporary. First visit of many. We searched for a Thai place in the area and dropped by. Parking is difficult but that goes for all venues in the area. It's a non-descript little place and we were greeted nicely. Pros: the food was amazing. Had the yellow curry and the Pad See Ew along with Thai iced tea. The curry was legit from my other experiences and just the right spice. The Pad was quite good yet the broccoli and carrots were undercooked for us. The flavors were great. Also had the veg spring rolls that were fresh and hand made. Cons: The undercooked veg was disappointing. The one notable is that the place is devoid of decoration and the tables are very utilitarian. It's a bit dystopian given the rich imagery that Thailand possesses. read more

I've eaten here a couple of times since it's close but I wish I loved it. The portions aren't very big but the flavors are authentic and satisfying. The service, however, could use some improvement. Additionally, the interior feels a bit outdated and drab. Despite these points, the overall experience was pleasant, and I would still recommend giving it a try if you're in the area. read more

One of the best Thai food. Came here with Vegan Jain Friend, and for a change I also tried Vegan way and it was really good. We went their for dinner and ordered Fried Tofu, Spring Roll, Pad Thai, Yellow Curry and Red Curry. , and every single item was perfectly cooked. I highly recommend this place. Wednesday March 26th. We came for lunch and saw the sign Unsatisfactory inspection by Georgetown food department inspection on the door. I was concerned about the food quality and cleanliness but decided to give a try. It was a big mistake! I found out table service is no longer available. We ordered and paid at the register. The food were later brought out in a take-out boxes ! This reminded me of McDonald's or Whataburger where I ordered food and paid at the register. The food was later bought out to me ! I ordered pad kee Mow( drunken noodle) and it was completely different from any pad kee Mou dish that I ever had. The dish was bland with mostly noodle minimal veggies and chicken. I would give it "one"Star out of five. and there is a good reason why the Georgetown food inspection give the restaurant an UNSATISFACTORY rating..... read more

It's a joy to communicate with their staff; typically I've been served by Tom and/or Mac, and they are very helpful if you need guidance (eg, regarding spiciness), respectful, and incredibly hard workers. I see you, Karens and Kens who complain waiting for food that IS COOKED TO ORDER. You want food yesterday go somewhere else. You want a place that still provides a timely order (just not in the 5-10min some expect). And the food is incredible in taste and in price. Many folks in the area are not aware of jaiwai despite its perfect location for a pickup order, casual dinner, or night on the square. My partner recommends the chicken pad tai. I HIGHLY recommend eggplant lovers order the eggplant dish with pork. Do yourself a favor and just try it. You'll thank me. read more

Tried this Thai place in person for dinner! It's a small joint with friendly staff. It's one of those mom & pop joints that serves comfort food. We tried the Thai Red Curry & the Pad Kee Mao both with Tofu (Vegetarian). Both had promising taste. I found the red curry to be just a tad sweeter.. but regardless it was good. We did notice a small piece of chicken in the noodles .. but it was surely an accident. The staff were very kind and had the dish replaced right away. I really really wanted to love this place. I read the reviews on the blandness of their food and I can indeed say I agree with it. I judge Thai & Laos restaurants on their authenticity by always ordering their Som Tom (Papaya Salad) as an appetizer. It was by far the worse papaya salad I have ever eaten. I know it differs as most Thai restaurants as they do cater to the American palate but still tasted nothing like I am use to eating. There was not a fish sauce flavor whatsoever and very bland. Their Pork Eggrolls tasted like they bought it at the Asian market and fried it because it was so SOGGY. When veggies and meat start sticking to the sides is when I know it's store bought. The Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) dish was mediocre as I added some soy sauce to get it salty but not something I'd order again. My husband got the sizzling hot plate beef dish and it was gunked in more veggies then protein to make it look huge when we probably only got less than 4oz of protein. I did leave 2 stars because the service was great and the waitstaff are super sweet. read more

let me start by saying the basil fried rice was spectacular. it was the perfect about of spicy without being overwhelming. all the right flavored and textures. the fried dumplings were definitely on the crispier end so make sure that's what you want if you order them (very tasty tho). the dining area was very relaxed and they weren't too busy so we had most the place to ourselves for dinner. the prices are unbeatable (under $20 for entrees) and the food came out with little wait. very much recommend this place for thai food! read more

Food is good but service needs work. FOOD: The yellow curry was great. The cheese stick appetizer was unique and not too bad; worth trying at least once. The Tom Kha Chicken was excellent!! The Panang curry was also excellent except for the green beans. I have never seen green beans in a Thai curry before. I don't mind green beans but I'd rather not have them in a curry in the future. I feel it a Strange choice and for that reason I'd almost not order the Panang again. SERVICE: The girl working was friendly but we never got checked up on once during the whole meal. I had to get up and grab extra napkins myself. I later asked for to go boxes on my way to the restroom and she told me she'd get them. Some time passed and my wife later asked as well. Finally, the manager asked the girl for us as well. So 3 asks before we finally got our to go boxes. To add insult to injury, we then sat there for quite a while waiting for the check until I finally got up, made eye contact with her, and she asked if we were ready for the check. I really WANT to like this place. I keep giving it chances. But every meal I've had here has been disappointing. The food is bland. Salty and bland. Even the dishes that are marked as being spicy are not spicy. The serving staff are friendly. That's the only reason I'm giving it two stars instead of one. One looks at the uninspired, neon beer-sign decor (left over from a previous Mexican (?) restaurant), and one can't help but feel that's a reflection at their attitude towards food. read more

Finally have sit down service back so go and enjoy this little gem of a Thai place in person. This time however for us we got it to go. First let me tell you the online ordering is one of the easiest and most efficient of just about any restaurant. The food is always packaged properly and never have we had a spill. The staff is super friendly when you arrive to pick it up and since covid they just have a table that says online pickup. Now the food, so flavorful and many spice level options to be had! I'm a spicy person and well let's say pepper burns her mouth just looking at it. So mild for her it is. I've now tried the green and the red curry love them both but lean to the red simply for the sweet/spicy combination. And I always get the tigers cry (spice 4). Her go to is the Pad Thai. I love they use lots of garlic and even add fried garlic to several dishes and appetizers. Be careful though some pieces can hurt when you bite into them. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu here so just start giving it all a try. read more

I've lived near the square in Georgetown for over three years now and this is my first time dining here. The restaurant doesn't look like much when you walk in, but we were greeted by amazing smells which assuage any doubt. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was amazing. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The serving sizes are big; most people will get two servings out of one entrée. They do a lot of takeout orders, which is another testament to the quality of the food. Prices are reasonable. I will definitely be dining here again. read more
