Hello my PG friend! My wife and I just finished dinner from Souls Food Restaurant, and let me tell you -- they did not miss. She had the smothered pork chops with mac n cheese, and candied yams. The service was fantastic and the food was true southern diaspora..The turkey wings and rice were just like Grandma made. The meatloaf had my husband licking his lips with pleasure and the greens had the right hint of seasoning to complement the Mac and cheese. We will be returning soon hope to see you there. read more

The wait was worth it. The food was cooked fresh as ordered. This place has wonderful cooks and hostess are very friendly. Now let's get down to the food. The collard greens were on point, very flavorful with a hint of vinegar. The macaroni and cheese were very cheese so your fork could wrap like string. Loved it. Their smothering was awesome. I am tired of this place always canceling orders. The inconsistent service from this place drives me crazy....I am never ordering from this place again I order my meals for a family of 4 they cancel it an hour later. This place surprised me from the moment I walked thru the door. It's a little more upscale then your average soul food restaurant; however the prices are comparable to most. The owner, Cynthia was hands on; greeting, taking orders, conversating , etc. I enjoyed the conversation & atmosphere so much, I could've chilled there for a cpl hrs chatting it up. Now for the food...... the chops were cooked to perfection (crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside). If you consider yourself a "yam" connoisseur like I do, you will not be disappointed with theirs! The greens were perfect - not too mushy or salty. Customer service is trash. The woman Cynthia is a rude individual, energy was dark, not inviting at all. We will never go there again. Aside from it being in the heart of the hood, this place is a death trap. Way too much confrontation for crappy southern "soul food". I'd rather have Popeyes. This place was really good in the past but lately I'm not sure what's has happened. Today we decided to call in our order ahead, and the guy who answered the phone was immediately curt and rude. My wife simply asked what meat choices they have and he snapped back that their menu is the same every day! He then told her "look on the website if you don't know what's on the menu." Whoever this guy is, he has pissy service skills, definitely not a good representative for this business. We're never ordering from here again. read more

Being from the northern area we were really craving some homestyle southern soul food. This is THE place for it!! The fried chicken is to die for, so crispy and juicy it's out of this world! I saw this place recommended as a good soul food spot so I tried it. It was early in the day and I was the only patron at the time. First off, this place was warm inside. If the air was on I couldn't tell. The owners didn't seem to enthusiastic about me coming into their business but I pressed on. The food was just ok. The greens where crunchy. The mac and cheese was generic. Their corn muffins where either from the day before and/or microwaved. It was hot but definitely not fresh. If you want tea your only option is sweet peach tea and that's ok IF that's what you like. I don't. I won't say don't go try for yourself but as for me I won't be back. read more

An attractive, very clean and welcoming restaurant. It is THE place I direct people to when they want soul food in Daytona Beach. My favorites are the meatloaf (moist and tender), the flavorful spicy cabbage and their rice and beans, but it's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. Cynthia is a master of all trades - ask her about the decor that she made personally - and according to a friend who travels the world for unique food, has the best crab cakes you will find anywhere outside of Baltimore. I was visiting the Daytona Beach area on vacation. I was looking for a restaurant with a wholesome food menu. Soul Foods was a wonderful find, the food was extraordinary delicious. I had jumbo shrimp cabbage and macaroni and cheese. The service was excellent, the restaurant clean and beautiful. This place was good from what i remember. I had wings once then oxtails the other time but i would like to recommend having fried chicken WINGS with breading instead of them being naked and fried. I had the yams and mac one time and fries the other time and everything was pretty good. My problem is i guess this place didn't agree with my stomach or me, not even an hour after each time i went was i running to the bathroom with an upset stomach! I cant go back here unfortunately and there arent many soul food places in daytona beach. I'd also like to add that my stomach is not weak and never has been so i have no clue what couldve made this happen. read more

I loveeee this place! The food is always good and the peach tea is great! The family that owns the place is always there and they are so sweet and kind! I like everything honestly. My favorite is the pork chops, salmon , garlic Parmesan wings, mac and cheese is a MUST and all the greens! I'm here almost every week. Very clean restaurant as well.
