See previous review.. for whatever reason all photos failed to upload. The food here is good and service is good. It did take a bit to get my food.

Okay but WHY did we forget to take a before pic because this food didn't stand a chance We got the chicken & waffles and wow... the chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and seasoned so good. The waffles were soft with just the right amount of sweetness -- especially with that syrup drizzle Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. You can tell they don't cut corners. Definitely one of those meals where you're like "wait... this is actually REALLY good." Service was great too, super easy and chill experience. 10/10 -- just trust me and order it (and don't forget your before pic like we did lol)

Stopped by on the way back from LA heading to Sac. Felt like having some soul food. Was very surprised that Tulare had soul food. Who appeared to be the owner was very pleasant. We ordered the breaded ribs, the swai and the mac & cheese. Great prices. Food was tasty. The owner also gave us an extra side of greens. Yummy. The outdoor seating provided cool r&b sounds, but we sat in the car to ate because of a couple of pesky flies.

Kind of expensive for Soul Good served up flavorful dishes unique to the area. I placed my order online and I had a difficult time finding the restaurant front. There was a single sign near an alleyway indicating the location. Unfortunately there wasn't any coleslaw so I had to change to another side when I arrived. Notably there wasn't a lunch special anymore. I ordered the entree plate which included a main and 2 sides. *Fried Swai: wasn't crispy but wasn't heavy nor oily either. There was still a distinct smell to the fish but the salty coating masked some of the fishiness. This was served with hot sauce and remoulade. The hot sauce was very acidic and there wasn't as much heat as desired. The remoulade could have used some of the acidity and I was craving a stronger pickle essence to take away from the saltiness. *Yams: favorite item. There was pleasant browning and sweetness on the yams. These were incredibly rich and tender. This honestly served as a dessert. *Turkey Chili: the sauce was meaty and savory but I wished it had seeped into the turkey. The turkey was still on the chunkier side so the seasoning didn't penetrate the center, leaving some gaminess. Good potential but could have been executed better. Not the cheapest of dining options but I did enjoy the stronger flavors. Most items were flavorful as is so although the sauces weren't the best, I didn't need them. Otherwise, the execution needs some work but there's tons of potential.

Cat fish and greens with a homemade sweet tea..

We were craving soul food; so we were pretty excited when we found this place on Yelp. We drove there ; about five minutes away; kinda hard to find, hidden in an alley with narrow and scarce parking spots. The owner and the staff member greeted us and talked to us about the menu. Made it hard to choose what to order. We went with the two meat and two side option . The meats we chose were the fried fish and the fried ribs ; and greens and Mac and cheese as the sides. I never had fried ribs ; and honestly was craving bbq ribs that fall off the bone smothered in some kick ass bbq sauce. Someone told us the sweet potatoes were good so we added this side for about $6.50. We also added two sweat teas ; which were a dollar each . Took about twenty or so minutes; waited outside on the patio at first( but decided to wait in the car; way too many bugs flying around. Bug spray or those insect repellent lamps, might be a good idea. Felt like I was getting bit up by mosquitoes and nats. When the food was ready we took it home and was excited to dig in. Let's start off with the fish; it was fried and tender; and warm still; tasted pretty good. Then it was the fried rib; ummm let's just say I probably wouldn't order these again. The five cheese Mac and cheese didn't taste like anything I ever had. First it was spiral pasta; being African American elbow pasta is what we're known to use; so this was unusual surprise. Definitely didn't taste five cheeses;one for sure maybe two at the most. The greens were alright; still trying to figure out what kind of diced meat that was. The sweet potatoes; tasted straight from a glory can; just doctored up a bit. Unfortunately was very dissatisfied with this meal completely. The sweet tea was the worst tea I ever had; I was thinking this tea was going to be overly sweet; sweet enough to make my body go into a diabetic coma; however there was absolutely no sugar whatsoever in this tea. It was awful. I had to go home and add sugar just to make it drinkable. Not sure if they tasted it before they served it ; but was missing the key ingredient which was SUGAR. Would I be back? Absolutely not.

It was busy during the lunch hour on a Sunday, so we got our name down on the clipboard waitlist. It was about a 20-30 min wait for a party of 6, with 6-7 smaller parties ahead of us. The food was good, and portions are very generous! I enjoyed the chicken fried steak over hash browns with eggs. Expect to take leftovers back if you're a small eater. Service was friendly and welcoming. What can improve: interior temp/AC - felt a bit hot/stuffy and couldn't tell if the AC was on inside, though it was better than the 100 degrees outside. They use four eggs in their omelets, and the price is extremely reasonable considering how much food you receive. The cheesy potatoes were also very pleasant and paired well with the omelet. When I visited around 10 a.m., the restaurant was absolutely packed with customers. The wait staff was friendly and doing their best to keep up, but at times it seemed like everyone was doing a little bit of everything. I think the restaurant could benefit from a little more organization during busy hours. There were a couple of things that could have been better. The guacamole tasted like it was a few days old, which was noticeable right away. What was interesting, though, was that the sliced avocado inside the omelet tasted fairly fresh, so I'm not sure why the guacamole wasn't the same. The fruit was delicious overall, although the cantaloupe was slightly underripe. It still had a firm bite and wasn't as sweet as I had hoped. Overall, Mama K's offers generous portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service. Despite a few minor issues, I enjoyed my meal and would recommend giving it a try, especially if you're a fan of green chiles and hearty breakfasts

We got coffee, strawberry lemonade, and fountain drink. When the drinks arrived they took the food order. It was an open face turkey sandwich, a Bacon Cheddar Burger, and avocado toast. My mother in law opted for dessert only so she had a banana cream pie. The food came out in a very decent time. We were chatting so we felt that it came pretty quick. The Burger was crispy and juicy. With the fries it was very filling. The turkey sandwich was so good. My husband loves it. He order the same thing every time we come. He mentions the turkey tastes freshly made. The avocado toast was very yummy. I added the sauce they have. They have different spicy leves so they called it baby bear for the mild momma bear for the middle spicy and the papa bear for the very spicy one. I love that one. It has some seasoning that makes it even better. The coffee it's always freshly brewed. My daughter loves the strawberry Lemonade they add some fresh strawberries. The ambiance it's very familiar. There were a birthday celebration and.they were singing happy birthday to them. I got excited and clap with them. So nice and inviting.

I write reviews to amplify a business that's noteworthy or to try to add meaningful insight into what my experience was like at a restaurant if it's worth sharing. That said, I saw my picture from my meal here and remembered enjoying the meal enough to want to share that. I took the advice of many other reviews and got the mac and cheese burger thing, can't remember the name sorry. It came with tomato soup and fries? Or somehow that's what I ordered. Honestly I could do without the mac and cheese or would rather just have it on the side. It doesn't add to the burger at all, but wasn't bad by itself. The tomato soup was good and I liked having it as a dip for the sandwich. The fries were good and I would have liked a bit more of them, but I can't really complain as I was pretty satisfied in the end. The cashier seemed confused about something and I was confused by our interaction, but in the end I paid for and received food. The interior was not particularly welcoming and I waited longer for my food than I expected to given that I was the only person in there at the time. I'd order ahead next time for sure. It wasn't a bad experience. I think if things felt a little more organized I could give another star. Prices seem on the high end as well.
