Soup n burger is AMAZING!!!! One of the best burgers in town. They even complemented us with a Muscato bottle on Mother's Day!

This is probably my favorite breakfast and lunch place. I can't complain about anything. Service is good. Place is cozy. Prices are when you compare with other places on Emmons Avenue better than all of them. Even same items cheaper. Specially their breakfast yummy. two thumbs down for this joint. Came here on a Friday night. My party was seated before we got there. They had already ordered drinks when we got there. Waitress came over and took our drink orders. After looking at the menus to decide what we wanted we closed our menus, you know, the universal sign for okay we are ready to order. For some reason the waitress thought this meant we weren't ordering food so she comes to the table to pick them up and starts to walk away. I stop her and say we want to order. I give her my order and then my husband does and then she just walks away without taking the rest of the tables order, what's that about!? After 10 minutes we find her again and tell her the rest of our table wants to order too, she comes takes the order and leaves. We never saw that waitress again. Our food arrives fairly quickly. Waitress never came back to clear plates or to refill our water cups. I had to approach the bartender and let him know we wanted our bill. Someone else brought us our receipt and then our waitress magically reappeared to process payment. They charge 18% gratuity on all meals which is BS because the service is trash. There is a lot of good and some bad, but I think this place can easily take itself to 4-5 stars with some effort. Will they? Not sure, considering they are in the money with the location and they will still be able to get some of the less discerning local crowd because of that. I went here for brunch. So the pros: - location: right on the canal, on the first floor of a large residential building, and a solid eat option for many - diverse menu that will have something for most people - there is ice cream and a bakery right on premises - wait staff is very friendly The cons: - it's overpriced - portions are on the smaller side, you might stay hungry - service is slow, despite the numerous friendly staff. The stars I gave were for the service which was excellent. The food and atmosphere left a lot to be desired. If you are planning to eat outside, then you may enjoy your experience more than we did. My husband recommended this place after eating outside on his own. Sometimes, the food tastes better when you eat outside on a sunny day. This day was chilly so we had to be inside. The tables are close together, and there ar be plenty of misbehaving children who are screaming. The sound controls is bad so it feels like you are eating in a high school cafeteria. The wings were from a baby chicken. The quesadilla was no good at all. When asked if its possible to remove an ingredient, we informed that we cannot because they are premade. The salads were pretty bad. When a salad lists apples and oranges you don't expect to receive unpeeled round pieces of orange and large pieces of apples. You eat with your eyes and the cooks need to be reminded of the. All in all, it appears that the dishes are premade in the morning and reheated as ordered. I mean where have you hear in a restaurant that you can't customize a quesadilla? Once again the service is excellent, and managers are very friendly. Not only do they add 20% service tip into your check but after I paid for a $45 bill with a $100, they never came back to return my change until I screamed so loud that I threw up my burger. Easily the best delivered breakfast I have had to date. 3 egg cheese omelet, a cheese salad (lots of cheese!), two cups of tea, and a bag of rolls with four jams to pair. Delivered on time with friendly service. Omelet felt like I was eating something out of my mom's kitchen. The cheese salad was a really good mix of veggies, cheese, and meat. Very fresh tasting overall. The tea worked quite well for me as well. When we inquired further, our waiter told us they Only have one bartender. If you want to increase your revenue get more bartenders. How can you serve brunch without cocktails. It was Christmas day and my wife and infant child were out doing grocery shopping when I started to feel hungry. We were in the Sheepshead Bay area so we decided to stop by whatever was open on Emmons Ave. We noticed this place so we decided to give it a go. We were seated quicky but it took about 15 minutes or more for someone from the wait staff, basically high school seniors or college freshmen too busy playing with their smart phones, to acknowledge us finally take our order. My wife ordered the Arugula Salad and I ordered a double cheese burger (medium-rare). After about another 10 minutes went by, the food finally arrived. Salad was OK according to my wife, but my burger was a bit overdone on the grill and came out close to medium-well. Fine, I let that go realizing that this place isn't some 5 star steakhouse but nevertheless, the guy working the grill really needs to learn the difference between medium-rare, and well done. Food was OK overall but the service sucked bigtime as the wait staff were either scrambling around seating people or completely ignoring those waiting to order or receive their bills. After I received the bill, I was shocked to learn that they tack on an "18% gratuity" charge. I was completely livid as I don't think they deserve an 18% gratuity for such crappy and inattentive service as well as sub par food preparation. I complained to the manager and he claimed it was a "service charge". Service Charge? What are you a night club or cabaret? I am a generous tipper, and I should be given the option to choose how much of a tip I leave, but I do not appreciate having it rammed down my throat by such arrogant restaurant management. I understand it was Christmas Day and a busy day for them, but if their wait staff are more concerned with playing with their phones instead of doing their jobs, then it's time to fire everyone and hire a new staff or simply close your restaurant for the day until you get your operation in order. I ran a restaurant business and if my staff were as bad as the one's here, I'd shut down the kitchen and send everyone home! I will never be coming back to this place ever again. Advice to the manager...get your sh*t together, train your staff to be more attentive, and drop the arrogant 18% gratuity! I have driven by a few times and always wanted to try this place. I was pleasantly surprised that they have a Turkish breakfast plate!! It was delicious and looked amazing as well. They also add the preserves and Jellys which most other places don't and they were delicious! The service was wonderful. The host and servers were all pleasant and very nice, makes a huge difference! Came in here at around 4:30 with 2 other people. Got seated quickly. The look and ambiance of this place is why they are getting 2 stars. It's modern looking and has a nice vibe. The vibe completely changed when our server got to our table. She did not smile once and seemed like she did not want to be there at all. She did get our order correct but once the food was brought out we did not see her again. She didn't ask how the food was or if we needed refills. We had to flag her down to get the bill and then we didn't see her again at all after that. The food itself is less than average and completely Over priced. We all ordered shakes and they come in glasses the size of small mugs for almost $5.75. The burgers were on par with fast food style burgers and the fries were flavorless. Some servers are great there others not so much we had a lady serving us at a time where it wasn't that busy she took our order and brought us out an item that we didn't order saying that's what we ordered it, when she messed up our order which is fairly understandable mistakes tend to happen but instead of getting what we ordered she standing there cluelessly arguing saying we ordered that. She only came over to the table once for the order and for her mistake. This place is honestly nothing special. It's unfortunate that such a great location was taken up by something so "creative" as soup n' burger. Their menu is literally soups, burgers, And a few more American style cuisines. The food is not bad, I mean common it's fast food at the end of the day and their prices are fair which is definitely a plus! However, their service is not something I was pleased with. From the moment we sat down the staff seemed so desperate that they immediately asked us if we were ready after not even looking at the menu and this happened to us three times as three different waiters came up to us. The biggest turn off from this place was the way the staff argued with their customers. In a restaurant you are in the buisness of making sure your customer is always right and happy. When we revived our food we were given something we didn't order simply because the waiter misunderstood what we asked for, when we told them that we did not order this they tried proving us wrong right away and with an attitude as if we troubled them...HUGE TURN OFF! I'm sorry if I didn't order something then that's exactly the case, I had three other people at my table who heard me say something else. Very good food, and service is good...most of the time. I've noticed that when I order on seamless, it takes them longer to deliver. They give me an estimated wait time of 50-60 minutes when it really takes at least 80 to deliver. Maybe that's an issue with seamless? Don't know but times need to be reflected more accurately. They always give little incentives like adorable small jars, refrigerator magnet calendars and other items. Love this place! read more

I'd heard good things about this place, but I should've really considered the source. My boyfriend and I went there a few days ago. For a place that's names for burgers, I expected more options like toppings, sauces, variety and a better burger. The service was just ok as well. The tables next to us got bread and we did not. Went out with my wife and our youngest daughter (about 9 months old). My wife wanted a place that serves crepes and judging by the name of this joint, we almost walked by, but I'm glad we gave it a chance. We got the strawberry, Nutella, banana crepe. I also got a coffee and my wife got a latte. The coffee came with warm milk on the side, which was pretty classy as my coffee didn't get cold that way. The crepe was exquisite. The outside of the crepe was golden and slightly crispy and the center was warm and had fresh fruit and Nutella. We got the dish a la mode (with vanilla ice cream on the side). The ice cream was fresh and soft and didn't have little bits of ice (which would have been evidence of old ice cream that has undergone many freeze-thaw cycles). We didn't get any entrees but we looked at the main dishes coming out and they looked pretty darn good. We'll definitely be back to try the burgers. Also, the ambience of this place is perfect--it's not loud and our baby could sleep comfortably. This place is very kid friendly. Good job, Soup-N-Burger! read more
