Prior to this visit, I had never been to Sourdough & Co. I typically visit Jersey Mikes across the street, but today i felt like mixing it up and I'm glad I did. When I first walked in, the menu felt a bit intimidating. There is a wide variety of sandwich, soups, and even flatbreads to choose from. However, I was immediately greeted with a smile and hello from the staff right as I walked in. There was one worker in particular, I believe his name was Calvin was SUPER helpful and informative. He gave me the run down on his favorite items and gave me a recommendation truly tailored to my preferences. I had the crispy crunchy chicken sandwich and it was a 10/10. The chicken isn't what I normally go for when i'm at a sandwich shop by Calvin vouched for it and it was delicious! I could tell the ingredients were fresh and Calvin was even kind enough to share with me how their lettuce hasn't been impacted by the recent parasite outbreak! All in all this was a very lovely visit and I will definitely be back! Pro tip: Next time you're in the store, ask for Calvin to make your sandwich! read more

They got the sizes of our sandwiches mixed up. The vegetarian sandwich came with giant chunks of cucumber, ONE slice of cheese (I even paid extra for more cheese because they have been skimping lately). Not only was there no cheese, it was missing pesto, mustard, salt&pepper, avocado, and carrots. It was a very sad veggie sandwich lol. It was like a big pile of mayonnaise with lettuce, soggy tomatoes, and cucumber. Oh, and they forgot the pickles. But they added bell peppers! One of the only ingredients I had removed. My hubbys turkey sandwhich was small, (wrong size )even though he ordered the 8 inch, and had barely any turkey. :( This place was so great when they first opened, and just seems to be going downhill with each order :( read more

Ordered an 8 inch brisket sandwich $15+ and a bowl of claim chowder $9, they were good but are you kidding me? These days breakfast is $28+. With regards to owner's comment: thank you for your opinion, I know prices are common these days (still $9 for a tiny "bowl" of clam chowder is excessive), and I have reviewed a $300 meal 2 days ago with a $140 tomahawk steak and $60 rib eye so I think I clearly know what "best" ingredients is. Next time I hear these excuses I would deduct one more star. "Oh No, the Secret is Out! Consistent Service, Excellent Food." I've come to really enjoy eating at various locations of this chain. I've eaten at the San Ramon location, as well as the East Dublin location. Each time, the experience is good. Today was no exception. This location is modest, with a long skinny layout. It's a bit of a tight fit with a tables lined along the long wall. I like the old fashioned wood panels on the wall. Someone spent a lot of time designing the decor of these cafes. They look good! I ordered the half Cobb salad, which also comes with a small side of hot sourdough bread. Even the half size is big enough for most people. My order was delivered in just a few minutes. As usual, the food was consistently prepared and tastefully presented. I think the prices are reasonable. While I was eating, the considerate cafe manager asked me if the store temperature was okay for me. That's what I call great service! (I found out later the nice young lady is not actually the manager, but I bet she will be pretty soon!) As I was eating, an onslaught of locals descended upon this location. I guess the secret is out. The staff promptly took their orders and they were soon served their orders. Congratulations on setting up such pleasant cafes. Although the customer service was nice, they messed up both of my sandwiches. I clearly ordered a kids bacon sandwich with all the veggies and an italian sandwich with swiss cheese instead of mozzarella. The lady taking my order looked at the other lady making the sandwiches and confirmed that they had my order written down well. I've been curious about trying this place for a while. I am not a huge fan of fan of sourdough because I instantly think of Boudin and their sourdough rolls are a bit rough to eat. However, this place kept getting my attention so I decided to try their turkey and cheddar cheese sandwich with the works. To my surprise the bread is DELICIOUS! I agree with Jon G's review but with a few more twists and reduction of additional stars. There is no way I got what is pictured in the photos on the website. Those sandwiches look fantastic. As Jon experienced, the filling for both primary meat and condiments of lettuce, etc. was thin as shown in my photos. Flavor of the chicken salad is very good but the brisket was more like a cheese sandwich instead of a beef brisket sandwich. On the menu, it states: We offer our soup in a cup or bowl with a side of bread or served in our famous bread bowl. I ordered two soups. The creamy tomato is the same kind as you find at Safeway. The clam chowder was very good. I did not order the soup in a bread bowl and here is the issue. I asked for the side of bread or at least some Oyster crackers to put in the soup when I was told "bread only comes with the bread bowl." I said "Doesn't it say on the menu I would get bread?" and I was answered with "we don't offer that." Wanted to get a hot sandwich . Simran was clueless on how to get the POS to work . Then she took forever to get the sandwich ready, when the sandwich came it was cold . When I asked for a refund the whole team was clueless about the refund. Atleast the man at the counter was apologetic - the girls didn't know how to get anything to work . Small and tight space inside, but lots of good options. Was hard to decide what to choose! My cousin and I got the Smoked Brisket and Caprese sandwich and split so we could try both. Both were delicious, but our definite favorite was the Smoked Brisket tons of well put together flavors! The Creamy potato soup was rich and delicious! Its a little different from other sandwich spots, you order your sandwich at the register step aside or sit down while they put together your sandwich and bring it to you. I got the clam chowder bread bowl for lunch today and it was so good! The bread was perfectly crispy on the outside but chewy in the inside. The clam chowder had a super thick texture and and was very creamy. I wish the clam chowder had more clams in it but it was really tasty and easily comparable to Boudin's clam chowder. Cons: - The sandwich was very poorly wrapped. - I asked for extra house sauce and I barely even tasted it (bummer). - Not a fan of getting pickles in a brown wax leaky bag, it was very weird. Maybe come up with another way to give pickles? - Sandwich was definitely not 8 inches, it was much smaller (5/6 inches maybe). - In comparison to getting the exact sandwich from the Tracy location, this sandwich was light LIGHT on the meat. Had to come welcome newly established Sourdough & Co. to Pleasanton (as of three weeks ago!) The bread, very nice. Not too hard, not too soft. Got the BRISKET SANDWICH. Pretty tasty, my only bother is that they use homemade green chili coleslaw. Love that they have items homemade, but wish they would offer a none spicy option for us whimps. Did lettuce instead. It was very saucy, but flavor was just ok. The MAC & CHEESE, was also meh. I wished it were creamier. Got bacon on top that tasted too salty and chewy for my liking. The COOKIES, were the true stars. Holy moly they're all amazing. Crunchy outside, soft inside. Homemade, and delicious! Last but not least, the STAFF and management were all very friendly and informative on the process. Okay usually I love Sourdough & Co but tonight you guys let me down. I placed a decent sized order with 4 meals and a side of Mac and cheese. You guys completely forgot the macaroni and cheese. The mac & cheese is tasty yet expensive so I was extremely disappointed when it wasn't in my take out bag. Also they almost forgot my drinks that came with the meals. Then when I got home I noticed that pickle juice was leaking ALL over my bag. I love the fact that pickles are an option but please put them in a separate bag or something because the paper pouch clearly isn't enough to contain the juices. Overall the food we received was good. The cholula chicken was delicious along with the clam chowder and side sourdough slices. I also ordered a caprese sandwich, BLT sandwich, and a french dip. The service I received in the store was pleasant. I ordered this for a Tuesday evening for a 6:30 pm pick up and it wasn't busy. The restaurant was very clean inside. I decided to order the clam chowder bread bowl. I ordered it to-go, and the bread was still soft and not soggy by the time I got home. It was slightly burnt at the edges, but not enough to change the taste. The service was also fairly quick even if we came during lunchtime. It was very spacious inside and there was a lot of seating available. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough soup for the bread bowl. I finished most of the soup and still had a lot of bread, so I wish there was a little more soup. Other than that, it was great and I would definitely like to come back to try their sandwiches! read more

I have celiacs so I have to get the gf wrap. It's the same wrap I get at another sandwich spot. Maybe with the famous sourdough it would have been a better sandwich but mine was just ok. Not a fan of the ordering system. I don't really want to order by weight. I want the best full or half sandwich you've created through trial and error of flavor combinations. If an establishment makes a skimpy full sandwich I'll probably go elsewhere. But I don't like the choosing of ounces of meat. It was fine but I don't think I'll be back. read more

I usually go to the one in San Ramon. What a difference compared to Pleasanton. I had the worst experience in Pleasanton. I sat waiting for my sandwich for 30 minutes to find out they forgot my order. I asked for a refund as I had to get back to work and nobody there knew how to do a refund. So my lunch break consisted of no food and a problem getting a refund. Don't waste your time and money. Go to San Ramon where they even offer cookies. I hope the owner sees this review. read more

We love Sourdough & Co but sadly the Pleasanton location is terrible. They constantly get our orders wrong, it's disappointing. We also paid for a specific item and they gave us the wrong one which actually cost less, which means we overpaid. We've given this location a lot of chances trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. But after today, we're done with this location.
