We stopped by California pizza, kitchen early, and the restaurant was nearly empty - only one other table was occupied. Even with so many open seats, we were replaced at a booth that was damaged and uncomfortable to sit in. Honestly, with how quiet it was, the booth should have been repaired or at least taken out of use until it was fixed. The atmosphere overall was clean, bright, and comfortable, making it a nice spot to enjoy a meal. Service was excellent - our server was attentive, friendly, and made the experience easy and enjoyable. The food was definitely the highlight. The pizza was delicious - flavorful, fresh, and perfectly baked - and the pasta was tasty and satisfying. We tried the corn Elote appetizer, which was OK but nothing to brag about. CPK is one of the favorites, especially the chicken tequila fettuccine, IYKYK. I love that they have ramped up their menu with lots of different options and flavors while keep everyone's favorites. We each got a wine flight and were genuinely surprised at how good it was. Although they weren't seating outside as it was a cooler day we still asked to be outside, which was nice they allowed us to as other people were, however the tables and chairs were a little dusty and dirty. This franchise has been in business for a number of years , and I have enjoyed my meals from CPK since the early 90's. If you are new to this area, or never go out to eat, here is what you can expect..... Their pizza menu is extensive with a number of classic pizzas like pepperoni and some different takes on pizza like their Thai chicken pizza. Truth be told, CPK makes a good pizza . Is it authentic or ground breaking ? No, but they stay in their lane and execute the pizza menu well. The offer a variety of pasta dishes too - from standard fare to tasty options like their kung pao spaghetti. I like this place, as it gives me retro vibes from a good time in my life. I really do miss the 90's. Tonight I went with the chicken dumplings and the Thai crunch salad. I was very satisfied with the speed of service and quality of the food. My total bill came out to 39.00 for an appetizer, small salad, and a bottled beer. Seems a bit pricey , but those are the times we are in I guess. Bottom line, I love CPK and I have fond memories of my meals here. I am happy to see them offer a few new menu items to go along with their usual offerings. I don't come to CPK to enjoy the best meal that there is to choose from. I come to this specific CPK location to put my shopping bags down and enjoy some quality food while keeping one eye on the game that is on TV. We ordered a pizza to go on a couple different dates and both times were consistent. The staff is very nice and efficient. The pizza had a good amount of toppings and I liked the crust which was crunchy on the edge and slightly chewy in the middle which is how we like our pizzas. The pepperoni has a little bit of a bite which was nice. We had ordered their signature pepperoni and sausage pizza. For a different pizza and very good service head to California Pizza. Food: we got the most fav tostada pizza (it was delicious), margarita Pizza (3/5), and tequila chicken pasta? Yum! For appetizers we got the corn, so good! Then we also got veg lettuce wraps (which I could skip next time) We got wine flight, it was good but I wish it had names written on them. As in displaying which wine belonged in which place. The thai crunch salad is one of my favorite salads ever!!! and a nice side is the kids gluten free pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage. Perfect girl meal!! especially if you can't eat a lot. I used to LOVE CPK and the different pizza options they had. Since then they have removed a number of items from their menu and overall the quality/flavor has changed drastically. I used to eat at CPK all of the time, but the last year or so something has changed. Came to this location on a Friday and was seated right away. Our server was very friendly, but many times it felt as if we were forgotten about as we ended up waiting to order, get refills and pay. I got the Veggie Pizza - Zero flavor other than the red sauce, about half of the pizza toppings were burnt. I appreciate that there was plenty of broccoli, but other than that the other vegetables were missing. My friend got the BBQ that they always love and they felt that it was very plain and no flavor. Unfortunately, even with no other customers in the restaurant, it still took about 45 minutes for the food to come out. They didn't offer us any bread until we asked. The portion size has been reduced to almost like a kid size portion even for full price lunch orders. We got a take out yesterday. The staff Bella who gives out take out orders was friendly and helpful. We had to wait 15 minutes for bread since they actually don't have any bread and needed to bake some?! I wonder if they still serve bread to dine in customers or cut them altogether. In my past experience with take out orders, I didn't need to ask and bread was included automatically. It's been a few years since my last visit to this location. I was lured back by their recent marketing offer for buy one get one free pizza, salad, or pasta. I was surprised to arrive to a rather busy late lunch nearly mid-afternoon hour on a Saturday. I was still able to be seated promptly and also was amazed that despite the low amount of staff, our waitress was able to take our drink and food order quite quickly. Our food also arrived rather fast, which is different from my most recent memory a few years ago where it did take quite some time. We ordered one Club Pizza on thin crust and a garlic fettuccine pasta with added chicken. The pasta was quite standard, and still flavorful. The pizza was not as good as I remembered it from past when they appear to need more cheese to help the loose salad and other toppings stick to the actual crust. Despite ordering it on thin crust, it still appeared to be rather crust heavy disproportionate to the amount of toppings. Our waitress was not able to come and check up on us as I would have expected until nearly our meal was completed. She apparently also was bartending for the entire restaurant. In any case, the meal was average, and I don't know if I would have come back had it not been for the marketing offer that was sent to me. This location seriously needs corporate attention. Our experience at the Pleasanton California Pizza Kitchen was one of the poorest we have had at any CPK in the Bay Area, largely due to service breakdowns, food quality issues, and a lack of management involvement. We waited nearly 30 minutes for bread after asking multiple times, and our salad and main dishes did not arrive until almost 50 minutes after being seated, even though the salad should have been served first. Basic meal pacing was completely missed. Because this is an open kitchen, customers can clearly see what is happening during food preparation. While it may be acceptable in some kitchens to handle bread by hand, it was concerning to see complimentary bread being cut with bare hands immediately after the same staff member had been cleaning tables, without washing hands in between. This was uncomfortable to witness given the visibility of the kitchen. We were using the CPK app, which clearly showed a free starter for new rewards members and the ongoing $5 pizza promotion. Despite this, the waitress said their system could not apply the offers. When we tried to get help from the manager, he appeared too busy and unwilling to assist. The free starter was eventually offered, but the interaction felt reluctant, as if we were asking for a favor rather than redeeming promotions clearly shown in the phone app. When the food finally arrived, quality was inconsistent. The lettuce wraps had a decent amount of filling but only three flat / torn lettuce leaves, making them difficult to eat properly. The Kung Pao spaghetti was overly salty, and our request for salad dressing on the side was missed. We understand staff can get overwhelmed and our waitress was clearly busy, but the bigger issue was management. We made multiple attempts to get the manager's attention through eye contact, and he avoided engaging with us instead of checking in or offering support. By the end of the meal, the experience had completely ruined what should have been a relaxed weekend outing, and we also did not receive the pizza promotion that is heavily marketed through CPK emails and the app. This visit fell far below CPK brand standards, and it reflects poorly on the brand overall. read more

I haven't been to CPK in a while but have always loved their Kung Pao Spaghetti and Thai Salad, so I thought I'd visit since we were at the mall. I ordered the Kung Pao Spaghetti and the Mac n cheese from the kid's menu. We were seated right away since they just opened so it wasn't busy on a Wednesday afternoon. The spaghetti was how I remembered, tasted good but the price was pretty high for the portion size. The kids menu at other places usually includes a side, but not here. Our Sunday ritual is coming here for lunch ans despite its the holiday shopping season, we made sure to slide thru. Came after little after they open and greeted the hostess ans specifically asked for Anthony. Luckily he was working so we sat in his section. Anthony is the waiter who CPK should feature in their new employee training. He clearly demonstrates the core behavior of customer service. He is friendly, attentive and clearly enjoys what he does. Ordered the norm of Carne Asada Pizza, Chicken Tequila fettuccine and the kids got their usual pasta off the kids menu. He knows us well that we like the bread with butter and sugar and without telling him he brings it out. Food is on point and service superb. I did noticed as he was clearing our plates, a large party of 25 with no reservation shows up and staff had to scramble to put tables together. Anthony knowing its his section didnt panic and went to go take care of business. I tried to flag down Kyle the manager who was busy to compliment Anthony but wasn't able to. We went in on a slow Wednesday afternoon. We placed our order, the waitress did not repeat our order back to us; causing confusion which resulted in the wrong drink getting served. When my drink was served, I notified our waitress immediately that this wasn't the drink I wanted; and she claimed that I said otherwise. And the drink I originally wanted was out of stock. My experience from 2017 didn't change from my recent experience. We entered the restaurant, and there was a line of people waiting to be seated, with no host in the front. I waited about 5 minutes just for someone to come to the front and start sitting people down. The crazy thing is, this was the case the whole time we dined. No one was keeping an eye out on the front of the house, and people walking in would wait 5-10 minutes at a time to get any assistance. Before I even got to the food, the service was not good. Our server seemed like she didn't want to be there, and all the other servers looked miserable. I saw one server smile, if that. The good thing is that football was on, and that kept us entertained. On to what we ordered: I got a sparkling mango sangria, which was pretty good and not overly sweet. The white corn guac and chips were decent. The shrimp scampi zucchini was also good. What is going on with this chicken sandwich?! This is the second time I've received something that looks like ham or turkey in it--without any mention of it in the ingredients. I called the restaurant three times to get clarity, and the experience was awful: one person hung up on me, another left me on hold forever, and the third was rude and dismissive, insisting I was wrong--then hung up. The service staff took a long time to get our order. We ordered couple of pizzas and salad. We never received our complimentary bread. The kitchen had a full staff working but the food took a long time to come out. I ordered the half carne asada pizza and Sicilian and the bbq chicken salad. This California Pizza Kitchen is inside Stoneridge Shopping Center. This mall may get somewhat busy on the weekends. Parking may be hit or miss at some entrances, especially the ones by the restaurants, but there is usually parking scattered around. They are located on the lower level, near Macy's Women and the best entrance is by Parking Lot D, near Cheesecake Factory. The Bolognese Spaghetti and salmon are favorites of ours. The spaghetti is always great, while the salmon is hit or miss. Some days, the salmon tastes more fishy and / or burnt than other times. Overall, it has been decent, but service has been eh on the last couple of visits - we have several different people serving us on each visit, so when we ask for something like extra plates or napkins - sometimes we never receive it. read more

Their pizzas are great, the bread and olive oil are weirdly my favorite, the red velvet cake is 10/10. This restaurant location has both indoor and outdoor dining to choose from and there was no wait when we arrived! We ordered the weekday Lunch Duo Deal. We chose the 7" Mushroom Pepperoni Sausage Pizza w/ the Original BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad and also the California Turkey Club Half Sandwich w/ Sedona Tortilla Soup for our lunch duos. I love how this deal allowed us to customize and build our own meal and everything tasted good too! Our meal also came with complimentary bread too, so that was nice. The lunch duo deal is also very filling too! I'd recommend this place! Came in for dinner on a weeknight right at 6pm so we just missed the happy hour that ends at 6pm. There were about 5 other parties scattered around the dining area, and were seated right away. Our drink order was taken right away. Once we ordered, a small plate of bread and olive oil with herbs (no balsamic vinegar) was brought to our table. After a few minutes we were told there was no bolognese sauce, it would've been nice to hear that from the beginning. We ordered: margherita pizza; mushroom pepperoni and sausage pizza on cauliflower crust; linguine Alfredo with shrimp (extra cost to add a protein); and zucchini noodle shrimp scampi. I thought it would be all zucchini noodle but it was just a small amount of zucchini - probably 1/4, while the rest was 3/4 regular fettuccine, and the dish was sitting in a little pool of liquid (probably due to moisture from the zucchini). They grated fresh Parmesan cheese when we asked for cheese. IMO, the food was decent, no wow factors, but quick and decent. read more

I was very disappointed with this visit. We got there right when they opened at 11am and they were having some private kids party that was wrapping up. They had very little staff and were not ready for the restaurant to open. We got seated after a few minutes but sat there for quite a long time before our orders were taken. Then it took way too long to get our pizzas in a nearly empty restaurant. I had the CALIFORNIA CLUB pizza: Nueske's applewood smoked bacon, grilled chicken, and Mozzarella, hearth-baked and served with slices of avocado, fresh tomato, basil, and Arugula tossed in mayo. Normally I like this but it was so dry. There was not sauce on it at all. And it was tough. My friends also thought their pizzas could have been better. One ordered the Margarita and it basically came cold. The other friend ordered the Hawaiian pizza and she also thought her pizza was dry, not enough sauce and not enough pineapple. Not sure if they were understaffed or the quality is slipping but this was not the best experience. When we left, there were people waiting and half the restaurant had empty tables. We were seated right away by the young hostess as it was not really too busy. After getting our order. The service was slow. We asked for a side of ranch, I had to walk up to the bar. We wanted our check even that too long. Multiple servers helped, not just one. Some of the items on the menu that I miss must be seasonal only. Ordered a Strawberry Rose Sangria and Strawberry Mango Cooler. The cooler tasted bad and didn't even taste any fruit flavor in it but carbonation. My husband didn't want to wait to get another drink but was ok since there was water. Plus he is used to club soda drinks. Yuck. My sangria was good. I would get that again. My husband and I shared the works pizza and Shrimp Zucchini Pasta. Both were very good and we finished it but it took awhile to be served. They only had two cooks in the back. The pasta was pretty expensive for the size but then I guess it was the cost of the shrimp. It should have been a bigger portion. However, as soon as the food was served we got swarmed by bees from the nearby vegetation instantly that made eating simply not possible.
