Such a cute, low key little spot.... My friend took me here for lunch and it didn't disappoint me. One bad thing is this place is not that close for us otherwise we would come here more often. Came by for my first time after seeing great reviews on social media. San Jose has a solid sandwich game and Sourdough Eatery definitely has a top spot on the list! Stopped by around 1pm on a Friday and the line was pretty short. Once you get into the building, you order on the left and after you get your sandwich, you pay on the right. Cute and quirky spot, with tons of art to look at. I ordered the peppered Turkey sandwich. Watched as the man prepared my sandwich and could see steam coming off the bread -- wow! The party in front of me asked to add spicy mustard, so I did the same. Wish I had asked for tomato and red onion, but will do so next time! I did ask for the pickle on the side and I'm happy I did. It was cut fresh for me. In addition, I ordered the potato salad, and was given an extra one for free! So kind. It had a perfect sweet to tangy ratio, yummy! This is a hole in a wall sandwich spot. I have worked in the area for a few years now and haven't tried it till this week. It's street parking. The menu is simple, barely any customizations. You head in, place order your order and the gentleman behind the counter makes the sandwich in less than 30 seconds. The sourdough bread is freshly made and the store smells so good. The bread is still warm, with a soft interior and crunch exterior. It's a huge sandwich and for $13.99, it's a great deal. I got the #10 ham and turkey. Other sandwiches like Ike's and Best Sandwich Spot is $15 and up. They also offer potato salad, carrot cake, are a variety of bottled beverages and chips for purchase. It is cash only but an ATM is available inside. It's a small interior and can get busy during the lunch hour. But the outdoor dining area is even better. CASH ONLY. Sandwiches are my jam! So, when a sandwich spot makes it on my radar, I have to check it out. I came by and passed by the sandwich spot because it's tucked away behind a large tree. I had to go around like 2 circles to find parking as they don't have a private parking lot. Once I found a parking spot I walked up and walked in. The interior is unique. The tables and sitting area are cool. I found the area where the sandwiches are made, and I tried to find the menu. An older woman with blonde hair directed me to where to find the menu and order. I ordered a turkey & pastrami sandwich and asked what toppings they add. The man making the sandwiches noted that they only add mayo, lettuce, and Swiss cheese. I grabbed my sandwich and 2 bags of chips and a Crush soda from the fridge. I went up to pay and realized the older woman with the blonde hair is the owner. She was friendly and kind and just wanted to make sure I was comfortable. She recommended I check out the patio outside and I'm so glad she did. It's so beautiful back there. You wouldn't think this little building would offer such a cool patio. It's so spacious and there's so much natural light. I found a comfy spot and began to chow down on the sandwich. At first bite the sourdough bread doesn't have much taste. It is not crunchy and doesn't taste fresh. The turkey was your average turkey, and the pastrami offered more flavor. The Swiss cheese is very bold and wasn't tamed with the mayo or lettuce, so it was a very creamy sandwich. I also had finished most of the meat and toppings and had so much bread leftover. I was very disappointed by how little meat and toppings this sandwich had. The sandwich was not flavorful for me. I left full of the 2 bags of chips. Customer service from the owner was excellent. She cares for her customer and wants them to be happy. There was only one man making the sandwiches when I came and there wasn't much of a line, so I didn't have to wait long. He just asks you what you want gives you your sandwich and you pay it up at the register. They have a good chip and drink selection. The interior and exterior of this place are definitely worth a visit. Theres no parking lot so you must park where you find parking which can add on to the time it takes you to get your food.
